One week from the next chapter of my life
jodyjetson replied to Mrs King's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ms King I think the best thing to do is not to worry - it's all going to be fine. Follow the instructions that you are given. It's simple at the beginning - just focusing on getting water and protein in your body. I bought myself some "small" containers, bowls and cutlery and that has been helpful. I mixed lime juice and froze my water bottle to enjoy drinking water. Take time, don't be in a rush and enjoy the process. Remember it's not like another diet. U won't fail. I'm down 23 pounds, tons of inches and feel great after being sleeved May 1. I haven't had any complications except some constipation about 10 days ago. I'm all good now. Best thing I have ever done! I feel free already. Good luck with your surgery , and keep us posted -
How are all the BC sleevers doing?
jodyjetson replied to wackiemama's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Micky Keep me posted when you get your surgery . Are you getting it done in a Richmond? Ask any questions you need to. I guess I'm becoming an expert. -
Hi! Before I got sleeved May 1, 2014 I thought the idea of using babyspoons was crazy but I honestly think it's been so helpful for me. It insures that I take small bites reminds me to eat slowly. I noticed that when I have eaten out at a resturant I am overwhelmed when they bring me my big bowl of Soup so I often ask for a smaller bowl and spoon to make me feel more comfortable. I like to finish what is in front of me so I portion out what I want to eat and have the rest packaged up for later. I continue to not be hungry - thought I get cranky and then I know I should eat. Really I love being sleeved, down 21 pounds so far and feeling great! I love reading people's posted and get inspired everyday.

baby spoons and small bowls
jodyjetson replied to jodyjetson's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for posting the Crate and Barrel small utensil idea. I immediately went out and bought some and also purchased some very cute colourful bowls as well. Perfect! -
Hi I was sleeved 01/05/15 and basically have had very little pain or discomfort. Feeling good for the most part. But lately I have been feeling cold and having a hard time warming up. Is anyone else experiencing this?
-
I had the same problem. I tried a stool softener, prune juice, and finally got some suppositories. Since then I put some Holy Crap mix in my oatmeal -chia seeds, buckwheat, hemp seeds. Works like a charm

Anyone have the sleeve surgery around may 7 2014?
jodyjetson replied to lizzyloo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I want to connect with you all too because it sounds like we are all going through the same thing! I have even gained wait since my surgery. ( I actually think my scale doesn't work because seriously how could I have gained two pounds? I am hovering around 20 pounds at this point. I'm not worried about it because I think to myself would I change anything ? Do I feel deprived? The answer is no to both. I am happy with how I feel and how my body has been changing. I can't believe that I can eat so little and be satisfied and not crave for anything. Yeah May sleevers, let's keep supporting each other. I can't wait to see where we are a year from now! -
12 days out of Surgery... can't lost after day 5
jodyjetson replied to nyesq's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm 18 days out of surgery and I have been up and down. Really don't get "stuck" on the numbers. How do you feel? You're body is going through a massive change - you will loose weight just stick to the program. Walk and drink as much water as you can. You will be successful! Trust yourself not the scale. I see the results in my clothes and people's comments. Keep a positive attitude. -
Just curious how you get the body ticker image when you post something?
-
Thanks for the help! I've created it..how fun even though I'm at a bit of a standstill. Just over two weeks since I left the hospital. I'm enjoying getting full so quickly and not having any attraction to food. So freeing. I know my weight will reflect it soon enough.

May 1 surgery looking for a buddy to share journey with
jodyjetson posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi I'm Jody from Canada, looking for a weight loss buddy to connect with daily (or so) and to share our ups and downs. So far my surgery has been pretty easy - no nausea, throwing up etc. I haven't felt hungry since before surgery. I've lost 14 pounds so far (up one today because I got my period I think). I love to cook. I love to eat healthy. I'm very realistic about my weight loss and body at the end (that I'm not 20 and will not have the perfect body). I know it will not be a easy journey but I really am feeling up for the process. Any anyone want to encourage each other and share our struggles especially as we go from the different stages of food. Thanks -
Me too! I feel like I'm human again

Just Wondering..
jodyjetson replied to dharmawheel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you are trusting your thoughts and listening to your body! Good for you. I was on clear liquids for. 2 days and then on full liquid for two weeks ( just getting to the end of it on Sat because I was sleeved on May 1). Even though it's a bit boring I have had no problems (except for being severely constipated today). Everyone is different. I think the slower the better to introduce food. Good luck! -
WARNING: TMI.... This constipation aint no joke!
jodyjetson replied to sleeved215's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks for posting this...I have never had any problems prior but I am only poohing out little hard balls. I was wondering what I was going to do and now I know. I love this site! -
I am lying in bed laughing because I know I have bad breath and an awful taste in my mouth lots, as well as my teeth feel grimy. Brushing my teeth doesn't seem to help. I'm glad you mentioned the heightened sense of smell. I thought it was just me. Funny! I guess it's just part of the process!

May 2014 RNY/Bypass Post Op Support Group
jodyjetson replied to Purple Iris's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm on day 11 - I have mostly got my energy back but riding around 75%. No pain since the hospital some discomfort but often fatigued. Water has been way easier to tolerate for me- I froze my water bottle and added lime juice. Sour but satisfying. Today I actually got 16 oz in. I'm getting a little bored if the limited diet too so I scrambled an egg for dinner. It sat ok in my stomach. I took off my bandages tonight and I have the tiniest scars. Two are still healing - the rest are tiny. Sat I switch over to purée foods. Yeah -
Honestly I struggled with the decision too. If you are anything like me, you have probably had a life time of food indulgences. Really I am only 10 days out of surgery now and it is so nice not to feel hungry and to be content in the decision I made. People are eating all sorts of things around me and there just isn't the same connection with hunger or cravings. I have already started to feel free...trust yourself, trust your medical professionals, get a circle of support and get on with having fun and living. Just think a year from now you will not be thinking about what is the next diet you should go on because you will be where you want to be....good luck

Bad breath? How about having sex again?
jodyjetson posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Have to say it's been pretty easy so far. I'm on full liquids and I agree with someone else's post I love the choc Costco premier shakes. I have 1/4 cup up to 4 times a day. I'm loving trader joes low fat tomatoe soup and apple sauce. I'm having a hard time not gulping down water. I feel like I'm eating all the time. I've lost 10 pounds already. I'm wondering if anyone else has bad breath? Also how about having sex again? How long should you wait? -
TWO DAYS POST OP AND ALL IS WELL!
jodyjetson replied to CrisH64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go. You are doing all the right things - moving around, trying to get liquid in your body. Try and stay off the juice even if it's 100%. Remember to rest and get your protein in and you'll see the weight come off. Enjoy the journey -

Thanks Stevie, I will try brushing my teeth and tongue more. I do drink the Costco shakes so I thought that's funny. It maybe the culprit. -
14 Days to go before I get sleeved, what should I know?
jodyjetson replied to JacobsMommy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 8 days out of surgery and I expected to feel emotional at some point but I haven't at all. Bring your own pillow to the hospital, I found that really comforting. Just get your head ready for not knowing what to expect and realizing there could be many what if's. Basically it was been an extremely easy road for me and I realize that this is not everyone's experience. My only thing is bad breath. I think a small price to pay for never feeling hungry or craving anything. So far I'm 15.2 down (since May 1). Good luck, relax and honestly you will think it's the best decision you will ever make. -
It's the little things...
jodyjetson replied to mandajean1182's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not ever feeling hungry and basically forcing myself to eat. I love not craving for things! And people are eating all around me and I have no attachment to it. I haven't even battled any head hungry. I'm at day 8 and have lost 15.2. -
1/5/14 when I had my surgery. I had the tube ball thing. The took it out when I left the hospital. Odd feeling when it came out. My incision have been fine not tender or sore . In fact this morning I woke up and I was sleeping on my stomach . I love being sleeved! Oh I have 5 small incisions

Feeling overwelmed
jodyjetson replied to Lacowgirl72's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great success! 30 pounds in 2 weeks amazing. I think if you have time repackage and pre label your food so when your at work all day you can just pull out the next portion to eat. I can relate that I'm a week post opt today and down 13.8 pounds. For the first time yesterday I left the house over meal time so I just pre packed what I was going to eat at certain times. It worked like a charm! Buy some nice small containers so it's visually attractive. Keep up the good work
