Westchester/NYC New York Sleevers
phatmom7 replied to MB Ready to Change's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on April 28th at Westchester Medical Center. I had a pretty good time of it. My doctor did find a hernia but he repaired it and my recovery has been pretty classic. I was on pain meds until May 4 and now I need nothing for pain. I have begun to hate my protein shakes so I made some homemade soups and I blend until smooth and add unflavored unjury protein powder to. I made potato soup and broccoli soup. No sodium, no fat broth, seasonings and blend, delish!! Any questions, just ask. My next doctors appointment is May 13 and I am looking forward to the weigh in! -
Don't get discouraged. One day at a time. If the eggs didn't work for you try cottage cheese or a little chunkier soup. Give your stomach a rest for a bit. Your stomach is like that of a newborn baby. Treat it kindly and try variety. Maybe next time you try eggs, make them softer and eat a smaller amount. Trial and error. I tried cream of mushroom soup last night and if felt so good I am having it for lunch. I slept thru breakfast. Take a breathe and give yourself a pat on the back for going to the gym.

Tailors in the New York area tend to be expensive and sometimes it's cheaper to buy new clothes instead. Also try selling the larger clothes as you shrink. My local area has a garage sale page on Facebook. A lot of people sell clothes on that site.

When I was at my heaviest, I wore pants with elastic waists, tanks and sweaters or jackets for work. I go back next week and I am hoping they still fit only looser. Over the years I packed away my good work clothes in bins I the attic so I have clothes upstairs from size 10 to size 16. I have no idea if they are stylish at all but if not I am a good sale shopper. Have lots of coupons for Macys, JCP, Sears and Dress Barn. Hope to use them wisely.

I have a 32oz water bottle (I actually bought two). I fill it up in the morning and know that I have to finish it by lunch and then refill for the afternoon by bedtime. I am only 5 days post surgery so I haven't been able to drink the entire 64oz yet but that is my goal.

Congrats on the 13.6 loss! I can't wait to weigh in in Monday! Have a wonderful weekend!

Rose - I had the sleeve and do not have any staples to be removed. Did you have a different surgery?

How do you feel about eating out after weight loss surgery?

I would probably order a grilled fish like salmon and bring home any more than 3 oz. -

Try ducolax. That works overnight usually. -
My surgery was done at Westchester Medical Center in New York. Dr. Kaul was my surgeon and he has a wonderful team that have now become part of my family!

I am home and feeling pretty good. I feel empowered and excited that the painful, part is over. Now it's up to me to follow the program and get myself healthy. Everyone says not to weigh yourself when you get home from hospital so I am going to try to wait until Monday to weigh myself since my surgery was ona Monday. So far I am eating jello and drinking decaf unsweetened room temp tea. Tomorrow I look forward to my first 3 oz of chocolate protein shake for breakfast! Have a great night everyone!

I am two days post op. Going home tomorrow and looking forward to my new life. Pain management has been good so far. Just feel like I have done a million sit-ups. Fluid intake is slow but I did have a Jello for dinner- it only took me four hours to eat it! I have had a good experience so far and my doctor and his team is fantastic. I feel like we have new members of our family!

I fractured my back last year and have taken tramadol every day since. It isn't habit forming and doesn't make me loopy. It's my miracle drug! -
My surgery is tomorrow morning. Going to try to get some sleep! Excited and nervous!
