  1. Hi to everyone! I have been a member on here since 2007,because I have been trying to jump through insurance hoops for that long. Just when I thought I was going to get approved the company changed insurance companies. AHHH!! So, from then on self pay was the only option. I finally am able to anounce that I have been banded on 3/2/11. My surgeon is Dr. Kirshenbaum in Aurora Co.

    12 days since banding...

I was also banded on March 2nd. I am struggling with the whole what can I eat thing. liquids no longer satisfy me and I am going to try cottage cheese, pudding and cream Soups. I made the mistake yesterday of trying some scrambled eggs with about a 1/2 cup of hashbrowns, because my stomach was growling. BAD idea! I have been in agony with left sided shoulder pain ever since. So, I'm going to try going a little softer. I know what you mean about the food addiction. The head hunger is far worse than the physical hunger. My personal email is jbuntjer@hotmail.com. Feel free to email me it would be nice to have someone to share this with since we started our journey on the same day.
  3. I haven't been banded yet but I have been researching it for 2 years and am still fighting with my insurance company to get the surgery. I have encountered all kinds of people that have had the banding done...on the net, support groups, and people that I know have had it done (I work in the healthcare field). I find that right now my biggest pet peeve is people that I know from my town that have had the surgery and it was paid for by Mn medicaid or Ucare (basically by the MN taxpayers) and they are really non-compliant. Here I am...with 2 different insurance companies that deny my surgery and I am fighting like hell to get it. They get it done for free...and then don't comply with the program. One guy I know that had it done for free wants to have his band loosened so that he can still drink alot of beer.WTF.....He still weighs over 300lbs and has been banded for over a year, but he's at the bar every night. My tax dollars paid for his surgery. OMG...............
  4. The policy with AETNA at my husbands job specifically excludes weight loss procedures of any kind...Is there ANYTHING I can do?

    Aetna PPO

I have just had everything submitted to AETNA and am playing the waiting game. I have seen the dietician and the behavioral health. I have had a bmi of well over 40 for 5 years and have several comorbidities. I am just going to pray for the best. I have an appeal already to go if I get denied. It sounds like they are one of the more difficult companies to get approval from. pray for me:)
