"Holy Cow" I thought it was just me. It happens also when I first wake up, or after my first sips of liquid for the day and also through out the day when I drink or eat. if anyone can find answers to this that would be great. It can be embarrassing at times, especially when there is no way to control it. I had RNY and at 7weeks post.

Nani, yes the pain on the left side is more than any other area and it will last for about 3 weeks ( at least mine did,I hope yours is not too long) what helped me is the pain med at night and sleeping on a recliner and place a pillow on your left side. When you wake up get up slowly and place your hand on your left side for a little support. I also slept with a heating pad on it the second week ( check with you dr first) and that seemed to help. I am 5 weeks post RNY and the pain is almost all gone it's just still sore when I get up in the morning. Lastly as painful as it sounds try and walk even if in your home but walk to your comfort level, walking helps the muscle heal. Good luck sweetie and hope it gets better soon.

What about "thin crust?" does that go down easier for gastric patients ? Before my surgery that's what I liked vs the thick because it's crispy but was wondering if I'll ever be able to eat thin crust again???

Surgeon recommended roux n y, I was thinking sleeve
lisavz replied to suekistar's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had RNY bypass on 04/17 because I was diabetic and on diabetic Rx 3x's a day, my PCP was ready to put me on insulin. The day after my surgery I was taken off of my diabetic Rx, the next 3 weeks I still check my sugar levels with my meter and all my numbers have been under 100. Well on week 4 they have gone up in the range of 120-135?????????? go figure. I looked it up on the internet and searched why they would go up if I only had 1 meal for the day and it consisted of 2oz of broiled fish and 1 cheese stick for the day. Keep in mind I am in week 4 for my foods. What i found out is the body goes into starvation mode if you go long periods of time w/out any food and your brain tells the Liver (?) to dump glucose into your system for energy. Now keep in mind I am no nurse or Dr. but I am thinking "what?????" I am told if not hungry don't eat,and so I don't. I see my PCP the last week of this month and yes I have a lot of questions on this. Has any one else ever experienced this before? My NUT advised me not to drink protein shakes they would rather me eat protein vs drink it but I KNOW I am not getting enough protein for cals for the day. My NUT told me my body has enough protein to last me 3 months after the surgery. So I am confused. -

Sound of "spring coils" in your chest/throat area?
lisavz posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op RNY and was noticing when I drink or eat or sometimes with out any drink or eat it may be just sipping Water there are sounds of like coil springs that are going off in my upper chest and throat area?? I asked my NUT about it and she said I may be eating or sipping too fast, but this morning it happened again w/out any eating, or sipping. It doesn't hurt but I don't know what it is and other people who are close by can also hear it and I just say "I'm sorry, I don't know why I do that..." Any one else out there experience the same thing? -
I had my RNY surgery on 4/17/2014 weighing at 191lb on a 5 foot frame. I opted for the surgery to reverse my type 2 diabetes, and my sugar is now under 100 and sometimes below 70 ( yikes). I have been on soft protein only and have been sick with "frothing" twice today I wish I can turn back time and maybe not gave had this surgery, I don't like being sick after you eat ( it hasn't been all the time just twice) . Has any one ever wish they didn't have the surgery???? I know I can't change this but am regretting today I went forth with it. I hope this will get better and I won't feel this way any more. Confused, upset, and a bit depressed.

What 2 expect on 2 week visit
lisavz replied to windfaerie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my 2weeks which was just on 4/29/2014 I saw the PA and they looked at the incisions and took off the tape, talked to a nurse also and then saw the NUT. While I was waiting for the surgery my ins required a 6 month weigh in monthly and during the 6 months I always saw the NUT, the week of my surgery I had the last appt with the surgeon, and the surgeon came to my hospital visits also. I would ask to at least see a PA so that you know everything is going good. -

Best of luck to us both, I am 3 weeks out also and today I woke up and said to myself " it's a one day at a time recovery" and I will quit comparing myself to my friends who are 1-2 yrs post op and remind myself they to started off slow like me. I need to be more patient with myself. And great for your weight loss your doing great. We can't rush the new learning process. -
