  1. Hi, I have not posted in along time.I had R bypass April 2013. I have lost 120. My Doctor would like me to lose about 50 more pounds . I don't think I want to lose,. but 20 maybe 30 pounds. I am slipping back into some old eating habits. During the day I do well I find I can't eat too much, but about 4pm I become famished. I seem to graze. I will eat a little and after a little activity I am hungry all over again I don't know how to stop this. Has anyone had this problem, before surgery I don't think I knew what it felt to be hungry . I am not sure if this is binge eating . Someone share with me . I sure don't want to start gaining weight.
  2. Hi everyone, Well it has been almost a year. The first 3 month I really questioned If this was the right thing to do. Now I can say it was the right thing to do. I have lost about 98 lbs and I feel much better although I am at a stand still again I want to get below 200 lbs. My Dr wants me to lose about 50 lbs ,but I am not sure I want to lose that much. I know I am snacking too much and drinking with my meals. I have been thinking about going back on shakes also to get the weight to start dropping again and get below 200 before my next Dr. visit this month. Would like to hear how all our April people are doing

I am in the Baytown, Anahuac, Mont Belvieu area. There must be some interested Pals that would like to start a group our way. I would not mind being a leader if I had some help as you can tell by my post I am not very tech-savy. If anyone is interest in this area let me know.

    Untied health care ?

Is there anyone that can share their knowledge with me. My husband has a lot of medical problems, but his insurance (Aetna) will not pay for Bypass surgery. We are on a fixed income and to borrow that much for surgery is not something we can do. He has medical problem Kidney failure , Diabetes etc. and I feel it would be unsafe to go Mexico(My daughter had her surgery there) If he had problems Not sure he could get the help he needed. Does a sleeve work as well on the diabetic? Any help will be appreciate.
  7. Hi Everyone, Glad to hear that our group is doing well. I had one set back Gallbladder went out, so back to surgery for a removal. I had more recovery time so I haven't done the exercise I should have. I have managed to lose about 72 pounds. I am still not getting my protein like I should, but I am off my B/P medicine, reflux medicine and having to buy more clothes. I do not have as much joint pain. I should have my labs back next week. I feel I have a ways to go. I set my goal at 170, but now I am not sure I want to get that low. I find I don't always do what I should be doing, it is difficult to go out to eat,but I am glad I made the decision to have this surgery. It has been hard at times, but I feel my life is going in the right direction. I have a class reunion this weekend and feel better about myself. Everyone keep up the good work.
  8. Hi everyone, I am better with my pain. I am really upset with my Dr Office. I kept calling about my ultrasound results done August 15. I could never get an answer. Today I finally got an answer I am going to have my gallbladder removed. This came as a shock, but still don't know all the detail because the PA is to call me. I know I sound like I am a Pain, but I promise I am not. I do not bother the office. I am also losing weight again.
  9. Hi Green*eye*girl, could you give me more information regarding the pain, type etc. you are having. My pain was a crushing pain I couldn't take a deep breath, also it radiated to my back on both sides it was just in my mid-drift area. My Doctor thinks it is my gallbladder ,but still haven't gotten a report (Makes me mad.) Also what is PPI medication? If this pain is something that happens I want to know .
  10. Hi everyone, glad to see everyone is doing so well. I have been on a plateau for the last 3 weeks so I haven't lost as much. I had to move my 3month appointment up because I have been having abdominal pain. He feels it may be my gallbladder .I am waiting to get the results of test now. It must not be too bad or surely I would have been called. We will see. I have been back sliding. I am again finding excuses. I am so afraid I will fail again . My husband has had two surgeries since my bypass .I am not exercising like I should. We are eating out a lot and I do not do that well. Please be there for me. Keep after me so I can stay focused on my goals.

    Feeling dizzy?!

Hi,I have had problems with dizziness off and on for many years, but since my surgery in April it is every day. I finally went to an ENT she is doing an evaluation on me ,but said it could be sudden drop in B/P,(I am off my b/p medicine),dehydration ,or even the sudden wt. loss ( my loss is in my face, neck and breast)after reading the post this problem doesn't seem uncommon.
  13. Hi everyone, Just found us again. I have been doing well. Still not losing. It is about 45lb since surgery. I have to see my Doctor July 11. I am not sure what he will say. Today I had a scare. I ate a egg and a 1/2 slice of toast for Breakfast about an hour later I drank some low cal orange drink over ice (I still want ice) All of a sudden I started having extreme pain across my mid drift an pain in my left back. I am still not sure what was going on,if it would have been on my left I would have thought gall bladder. I thought I was having a heart attack. I am still not 100%. If it gets bad again I will go to the er. Has anyone had symptoms like this?
  14. Hi, mtibodo2 I had my surgery at Memorial Hermann, Houston, April 16,2014. I think, know matter how well you prepare yourself for your surgery you are never 100% sure how your body is going to react. You need to look at the long range out come just in my six weeks I am off 2 medications, have no reflux ,no B/P problems , join pain improved , bladder problem improved and have lost 40lb. Surgery is never fun , but I am sure you will do great. You may hit some bumps along the way, but we are here to help you. GOOD LUCK

    New Food For Post Ops...

Hi everyone, Went to see Dr. yesterday he was very pleased with weight loss ,how I was tolerating my diet . I am really starting to feel better because I am taking in food that has more texture. I am looking at things more positive now. I have one question that I forgot to ask him .I might have mentioned it before . I still am experiencing super dry mouth .I am drinking Water with ice all day long .I even drink during the night. If I work or do anything my mouth and throat becomes so dry I start gaging if I don't have water. I don't think I am dehydrated. I don't know what to do about this .My Dentist told me dry mouth can damage your teeth .He gave me Bioten tooth paste and told me to brush 3 times daily. He want to see if that will help me. He said dry mouth was normally caused by medication , but I am off most of my medication. If any of you have had this problem let me know .It really helps to know what others are having to deal with in their daily lives
  18. Hi. Well not sure what is happening now. I am 7 weeks post op. I am still trying to read my full and hunger signs. The last few days every time I eat I get the heaves. I am also at a weight stand still. I haven't lost anything in almost a week. I am at about 35 lbs. Has this happened to anyone? What did you do?
  19. Hi I feel the same way!!!! Tuesday I see my Doctor I hope he can give me some pointers.
  20. I know it is going to take time, but when will I get my energy back?. Those of you that have returned to work how do you manage? I still have times I am dizzy, nauseated. I do a little and can't seem to do what I need to at home. I am not even sure if I know when I am full. All I really want is ice water A few day ago I thought things were better, but I am not sure now. Would you share with me how you are feeling.
  21. I find it very interesting how everyone reacts differently to diet ,but also the same. We all deal with diet a little different drinking fluids getting protein and taking steps to our new life. My diet has started to change again. What I am eating is starting to taste like food. I have had 2 meals today that were good. It makes me feel more positive. I have lost about 33lbs since April 16. I am off my BP medicine, no more reflux, back pain has improved. I need to get my strength back. Will start pool exercise next week. I would like to hear how each of you are doing at this point. The good and the bad.

    Revision?

I had a revision April 16,2014. My first surgery I don't know if it had a name it was done appx 30 years ago. My Doctor and his team had me in surgery 6to7 hours due to all the adhesions. The surgery went well. I was very sore for awhile. My main problem I am having is getting my Protein ,But I don't think that is any problems with the revision.
  23. Hi everyone, I have a problem. I don't know if it is between my ears or if anything can be done. I am 4 weeks out. I have formed such an aversion against sweet tasting things that even the thought make me have the dry heaves. I can't get my proteins in with protein drink. I now all I want is ice water. I still have poor energy level. I am trying to learn to read my body, but not sure when I am hungry. My husband says eat it anyway. I can't when I heave I don't stop and it feels like it comes from the bottom (of who knows where) I have lost about 30 lbs. Just let me know if anyone has had a similar problem. I know this could no be good.
  24. Hi CalmSpirit, Thanks I would like anything you would like to share. I could give you my email unless you want to post it here.
  25. HI, Teacherlady, I could count back and about the same time I was bottoming out emotionally. Not sure why. I have had a lot of ups and downs. I went a whole day in bed not wanting to talk to anyone. Hang in there I think as we heal and can resume a normal life. That things will be better
