My name is Nicole and I am 41 years old. I have always been overweight since I was a child. My parents both had diabetes and my mother had heart problems and died from kidney failure, all due to the diabetes at the age of 59. My father used pills to control his diabetes and died of a heart attack at 69.

My family history and the fact that I have been a diabetic (insulin) since 17 is what motivated me to have the Sleeve surgery. I am hoping after enough weight is lost that I will be able to drastically lower the amount of insulin that I take.

My surgery was on April 14, 2014 and so far I have lost about 8 lbs. i feel frustrated sometimes and think that it isn't going quick enough even though it's not even 2 weeks post-op.

I had pain after surgery but I had meds to control it. After the third day the pain was barely noticeable and I only experience slight pain now. I have not had to continue much pain meds after leaving the hospital. So far so good.
