  1. Just to follow up. I am just over one year post op, and still packing my Protein and Vitamins. As kdnhk said, it is real easy to slip back into bad habits when away from home. I have no problem explaining why I dont do meals like the rest of them do, and just snack on a Protein Bar or beef Jerky while everyone leaves for lunch. I usually try to get my 'walk' in while everyone else goes to eat. Showing folks my before and after pictures helps to explain alot
  2. I too travel for work. (from Louisiana to the Middle East) Hopped a plane to the Middle East 18 days after my surgery. No issues for me, other than convincing the stewardess's that I needed more Water. I did get up and walk around more during the flight. And I made sure to carry my Protein and Vitamin supplements with me in my check in bags.

    What do you ride?

I was riding less than a week after my surgery. I also went back to work 18 days after my surgery. Not that I am a superman or anything, I just didnt have any issues or pain. My doctor was fine with it and gave her approval.

  6. I have to agree about the warmth. I didnt realize how much insulation I was carrying around with me. I swear my hands have been cold since I woke up after the surgery.

    Travel in Developing Countries

I was in the same type situation, working in the middle east. Not being a fan of the arabic or indian dishes, I too had to come up with an alternative. I found that seafood, (which I love) is normally an option on the menu in one form or another. I also pack a large check in bag with Protein powder, Protein Bars by the box, beef Jerky, Vitamins, dry Beans and a small crock pot, a egg genie for making quick boiled eggs. So far, no issues on my end. Hope some of these ideas help.
  8. I walked a mile the morning I was released from the hospital, and felt great. The times and distance has gotten longer as the days pass. Now I do a minimum of 5 miles a day just to maintain, plus it makes me feel better. Listen to your body, it will let you know when its had enough.
  9. Carnivor Protien Shots! Beef Based Protein, 50 grams of protein in a 4 ounce shot. Sold at GNC, give them a try. You can also get New whey Protein 'shots' at Walmart, 42 grams of protein in a 3.8 ounce shot.

    2.5 Months Out & FAIL

This has been a pretty interesting post to follow so far. And I can totally understand the OP's situation. I live in Louisiana, we go to bed thinking about what we are going to eat and Celebrate tomorrow. Hell, everyday is a celebration of food and drink in our state. There's a festival almost every weekend somewhere in the state, and you can bet some of the finest cooking and booze will be available. Anyway, back to my boudin and burbon. (just kidding, I'm having a nasty Protein shake) "Laissez les bons temps rouler"

    Surgeons and hospitals in Louisiana

Dr Redmann did my surgery in the Southern Surgical Hospital in Slidel. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I was treated excellent, the nursing staff was second to none! I actually wrote a letter to the hospital and let them know how well the nuring staff treated me, and that both nurse's deserved a raise. I wouldn't think twice about recommending them to anyone.
  14. Sure its possible, if you follow the plan. I have lost over 110 lbs in the first 7 months. Techinally, I am below the 100 pound loss goal that was discussed at the surgeons office. But I changed that goal, and want to drop 10 more, and the doctor was fine with that.

    Panic Mode

When ever the nerves set in, go back to the plan, and follow the Doctor's orders. I was lucky, I was at work in the Middle East just prior to my surgery, and arrived home 3 days before. Since I really cant stand the food over here, following the liquid diet wasnt much of a test. 8 months post op, and over a 110 lbs later, I will say it was one of the best decisions I ever made.

    Surgery Date!

Wow, a 3 day hospital stay???? I was in the hospital less than 24 hours. I feel like I got cheated lol. Glad everything went ok. I'm almost at the 8 month post op date, and can say this was one of the best decisions I ever made.
  18. Yep, everything you said could of been my story. Something I haven't seen discussed on here is the continuing of the gas bombs. I am 7 months post op and can fart like a freight train. On the good side, very rarly do they have any smell. But the sound & duration could wake the dead. Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but I could take the gold in the wind biscut olympics.

    On the road again...

I travel for work myself. Protein bars are a life saver, along with Jack Links Beef Jerky. Also, most airports i go through have a smoothie king inside the terminal. So I order up one and carry it on the plane with me.
