Newbie from Southern GA
nana2eight replied to jaimed123's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I too am from South Georgia - Valdosta. I had my surgery in Albany by Dr Burnette. It was wonderful. Surgery was Sept 13, 2007 and I've lost 81 lbs so far. Good luck and let us know how your visit goes. Patsy -
I talked with Elizabeth on Tuesday when I had my fill and she said that she is trying to get a support group up for Albany. I had Dr Burnette and had first fill on 10/30/07.

I am also discouraged. I lost 20 lbs pre op. Gained 6 day of surgery. lost it the next day. The first week I lost 11 lbs. I started walking for 30 min a day on the treadmill and haven't lost anything since. I know - everyone keeps saying muscle weighs more than fat and all that - but still. I'm not even eating 1000 calories a day. It just seems like a 380 lb woman ought to lose some weight. It is a good thing I had the surgery or by this afternoon I would have been having me a double quarter pounder with cheese with a chocolate shake. At least now I will have to ride it out. I haven't been hungry yet since the surgery (Sept 13, 2007). I started mushies yesterday. That wasn't very encouraging to read that I could actually gain some between now and first fill (Oct 30). I guess I'm just having a pity party today. I'm still glad I have my band. The laws of physics say that I have to start loosing don't they?? Patsy from South Georgia

The high port is something the doctors in Albany, GA came up with. They said it makes it easier for a fill - don't have to have x-rays cause they can get right to it. I think all of them in Albany are doing it that way. I just read that I can have yogurt and puddings when I start full liquids tomorrow so that will be nice although I am not hungry - I just get tired of sipping all day long. Yogurt and pudding will at least come from a spoon. Patsy Dr Burnette in Albany, GA on 9/13/07

I was banded on 9/13. Everyone is different I guess but the worse part for me was the gas pains along my shoulder blade. Incisions haven't been bad at all. My port is above my left breast and has been a little tender but not bad. Dr has me on Clear liquids until tomorrow and then full liquids. Patsy 419.5/390/5/382.4/170 Highest/surgery day/current/goal

Dr Burnette did my surgery at Palmyra Hospital in Albany. Having lots of gas pains in left shoulder area but other that doing great. Not hungry at all and am obeying drs orders on drinking liquids. My port is above my left breast and the area is a little tender but not bad. I live in Valdosta, GA. Dr Burnette is scheduled to start doing lap bands in Valdosta next month but I didn't want to wait. Patsy
