  1. So I decided I'm going to look into hiring a personal trainer. The cardio is awesome and I want to continue but this skin is becoming an issue and I really need to start incorporating weight/strength training. I used a site called Thumbtack to help put me in touch with personal trainers in my area who would be interested in working together. It's pretty awesome so far and I hope I find the right person!

Personal trainers are sooo expensive! Lol! Maybe just keep up the cardio and look into some additional types of exercise? Also - I think baths helped my skin a lot. Not necessarily by nourishing from the outside in, but by creating a buoyant experience that takes the stress of gravity off, allows for easy exfoliation etc. Maybe skip the PT and save that money (it will be A LOT) for the WLS plastics?

I highly recommend getting a trainer. I got a package deal for 8 weeks before surgery. I didn't do cardio because I couldn't lose weight or I wouldn't qualify. In 8 weeks I replaced 10 pounds of fat with 10 pounds of muscle and my body fat $ went down 4%. I needed someone to help me watch my form, teach me exercises to do based on my fitness level and just the accountability knowing I was going to see her again in a week. I just consider the money spent an investment in my health.

I love working with a trainer...it is the one time during the day that I don't have to think I just have to do. Be sure to interview any prospective folks...I've worked with two great people...but....hindsight tells me that the first trainer (who had a body building background) was not as attuned to my body as the second (an athlete/rehab background). Both made me sweat though :) You can also see how long you need the trainer, once you learn the techniques and circuits maybe you can go your own way or cut back on frequency. Good luck!
