Hi, I am new to the forum but so glad to have found it. I have spent days reading threads and wanted to check in. I am scheduled for surgery on may 8th and I am doing my preop diet now. I am starving pretty much and hungry all the time, like stomach growling about an hour after each shake. I am doing self pay for the vgs in Cincinnati with Dr. Trace Curry. I pretty much worry I am about to spend my entire savings and do this drastic thing and then not lose more than like 30 pounds. Also, being so hungry on this preop diet worries me I will be hungry after surgery and I know if I spend the rest of my life hungry there is no way it will work. Most of the people on here have had success but there are some that don't lose weight or are hungry all the time. What is it that makes the difference?

I had my sleeve this morning and am back home now. I have pain pretty bad in the upper top of my stomach and can't sleep. The Vicodin is pretty weak. But I am surprised how good I feel other than that. I was so relieved it went well. I got five incisions and those aren't really hurting yet. I am having such a hard time keeping my three year of off me. I have only had about 14 ounces of fluid but am trying. Sf Popsicles are the best

Almost sleeved in Cincy! May 8th is a day away! Getting very nervous, scared to fail, hungry you name it -
Congrats on making it thru surgery! Gosh, thank you so much for posting. I have my surgery on the 8th (Thursday) and am really scared. I am so relieved to hear you aren't hungry. I know what you mean about the liquid diet because I am starving. So why six incisions instead of four?

So am I! Dr. Trace Curry is my surgeon too! Were we in the same nutrition class, on April 24th? I am so trying not to cheat, some of these meals are just gross, and cheating is very tempting, I'm trying hard. I agree that last week was the worst, but now I sometimes don't even want to eat (go figure). My stomach feels like it's eating itself! LOL! Maybe I'll see you on the 8th, I'm scheduled for 12:15 since I'm in Columbus. What about you?Hey! How cool is that? Yes, the food they gave us is weird. Like the eggs and the chili, yuck. I like all the broths so mostly I just sip on those like coffee all day. It is hard not to cheat. I want a beer!! Lol! My surgery letter says it is at 830 and to be there by 7 am. I have never had surgery in my life so I am getting very nervous, I hope I do see you there! Maybe I will be waking up then -

I am set to be sleeved on may 8th in Cincinnati at Journey Light with Dr. Trace Curry. I am on pre op and trying to not cheat, lol. It is better this week cuz last week I was starving! -
Oh I will, and you are doing all the right things. It really helped me to heat up a coffee cup of chicken broth when I was hungry. Something about the hot liquid took the hunger and I made it real hot so I could just sip it and that made it last longer and occupied the food monster in my head. This phase, and it sounds like you are going through it too, brings on more than calorie reduction. Most of us have food issue and overheating problems and so we are forcing our body to give that up. Your tears were because you are grieving. Just like if someone close to you left you, what you are feeling is not having that food that we rely on to make us feel whole (full).

I know it is hard, I am in the second week of my pre op diet also and get sleeved next week. After day three the pre op diet gets easier. Your bs stabilizes and many carb cravings subside as you detox that stuff. I was starving the first three days and not just head hunger. But today I had two shakes and a chicken broth and that is it. Just got busy and forgot to eat. So I really think it had to do with a week of hell whir you detox and then we get a glimpse at normal eating. Hang in there! When is your surgery?
