I missed the second half :/ myband, I only barely got a look at the theatre at the Avenue. They wheeled me in and I remember thinking, "OMG what am I doing?!?" and wanting to run out of there lol. All I remember was that it looked too white. In less than two minutes, I was out cold. The one thing I would be uncomfortable with, in regards to going overseas for surgery, is not meeting the surgeon beforehand. Before banding, I went to three different ones for consult, til I found the one I felt most comfortable with. If I went overseas, I wouldn't have that option.

Calling all Aussies Just saw that A Current Affair (gotta love Ray Martin lol) is having a story tomorrow night about going out of the country for discount plastic surgery, if anyone is interested in watching... A couple of us were talking about it a few weeks ago, so thought it might be relevant.

Thanks everyone, for your advice!! A miracle occurred yesterday, when her new laptop arrived a few days early LOL. Now I'm back at my own desk with no one to hear my damn esophagus *g*

I got home just in time and made my hubby suffer through it LOL. It ended up being a two part special, so yesterday was before surgery and today will be the after surgery bit. It was on a specific hospital in Thailand (Bangkok), but I can't remember the name. This is meant to be the place Aussies go for plastic surgery, with more than (I think he said) 8000 of us there last year for PS. I'm sure as soon as they've done the second part it'll be posted on http://www.ninemsn.com.au/aca. From what I saw though, it looked like the hospital conditions were on par w/ Aussie hospitals. I'll watch again tonight and see if I can find out anything more

Congrats, Jachut! December will be here before you know it. Which hospital will you be using?

Thanks Kel!! I've been really frustrated lately, as its slowed from about 1kg/wk to around 0.5kg/wk, if I'm lucky. Then it fluctuates back and forth. I've got to remember to remind myself that no matter how slow I go, without the band I was gaining, so this is better. The closer I get to goal though, the more I want to be there lol, so I often find me beating myself up over it. You're doing really well yourself! That plateau is definitely history Are you still doing Curves? I too, got a quote from GG for surgery in Malaysia, just to see what it would be. I mentioned it to my husband and he was intrigued with the whole 3 week holiday thing and 1/2 the money of a local surgeon, but not so intrigued that he told me to book it lol. It does kinda make PS sound very relaxing (atleast the recovery portion of it). I have my consult with the PS here in Melbourne on the 25th, so I'm looking forward to hearing what he has to say. A coworker of mine used him last year for a TT and then lost more weight, so went back under the knife yesterday to have more skin removed and rhinoplasty. Just give me a yell when you're ready to head to Malaysia - I'm always up for a holiday

I too, get this occasionally, Margo. I generally just say, "Yup, I can actually eat everything I did before the surgery, just in smaller amounts." I use this as an intro to teach them about the band and usually expand on the subject a bit. So many people do it out of misplaced concern or simply because they don't know any better (lots of them hear what bypass patients can't eat and assume that applies to band patients as well). Sorry you have to put up with it though - it is frustrating.

I don't really think this is a NSV, but its definitely a mental victory... I'm a scaloholic. I weigh several times a day, even though I realize I shouldn't. This weekend, my family and I went to the country to visit some friends. I knew this friend didn't have a set of scales, so I considered taking mine lol - I know, its tragic. But in the end, common sense prevailed (err, it could have been that I knew my hubby would think I've totally lost it) and I left the scales at home. I didn't even miss them! I've been home several hours and walked past the scales a handful of times, but not stepped foot on them. I'm going to try to regulate my weigh-ins to Monday mornings only. Not making any promises, but I think I can do this!

It's liquid, go for it LOL. The surgeon said in our Information Evening that even beer, in moderation, is fine. Not promoting going on a four day binger or anything, but the occasional drink shouldn't be any problem. I'm not a huge drinker, but when I go out for drinks, I want to do it right On those nights, I usually choose to drink, rather than eat, as I can't fit both in.

I was always a chubby kid. Not obese, but one of the largest girls in my class. In about year 5, I started to pile on more pounds. I had one stint of being a 'normal' sized person, in years 10 and 11, but that was due to bulimia. After I got over that, I piled on pounds again. When I gave birth to my daughter 7 years ago, I weighed 207 lbs. I lost about 25 afterwords and its been a gradual climb since then, leaving me at 262 pre surgery. Slowly going down though and I'm happier now than I've been in ages.

Welcome to LBT, Therese 50kgs in 9 months is absolutely fantastic!!! Congratulations on your accomplishments. I'm in Oz too - Melbourne, to be exact. I didn't get to make it to the conference this year, but its on my must do list for next year. You'll like it here. The people are some of the best in the world. I couldn't have made it this far without them.

Mine has been all over the place since surgery. Finally 3 weeks ago, I went to the doctor and got put back on birth control to regulate them. She said that because of the trauma of surgery, plus the weight loss, this was normal. It's a real pain in the patutey tho! heh

Just echoing what everyone else said. It's no big deal, pick yourself up and move on You'll be fine!

Okay, so for the past three weeks I wasn't able to make it to the gym, due to school holidays. This week, I jumped back on the wagon. On Monday I got another fill and started back to the gym. I've been every morning. I've been eating better, not snacking after dinner, etc. So I jump on the scale this morning .. and wouldn't ya know, I've gained a kilo (2.2 lbs). Not gonna let it get me down, much lol, just wanted to vent.

I'm sure you'll look fabulous! We wanna see pictures hehe

I tried to call my best friend and ask her this question, but she wasn't around. She's about 5ft 2in and wears a size 1, 2 at the most. She eats nonstop all day. None of that healthy stuff either - burgers, chips, chocolate, mayonaisse crackers for goodness sakes! LOL She reminds me alot of a Jack Russel terrier though, so I just assume that's how she stays so small, always bouncing around. Her mother was the same way til she hit about 35 then BOOM - gained about 75 lbs.

My top 5 bandster no no's are:- Drinking directly after eating - I'm only guilty of this after dinner though Because that water I had washed my dinner down lol, I go back into the kitchen for a snack sometimes :/ The occasional coke (not diet either!!) Eating after a PB (small one) has passed On occasion, I have a baked potato for lunch (where's the protein in that?? LOL)

I had the stitches that dissolve on their own. Probably just a surgeon preference?

Hi, I'm Jess and my band is Faith (because she's given me so much of it). Nice to meet you all

Great pictures, Kel! Looks like you had a ball. I told my hubby last night that I'm definitely going to make it next year and he said that's just fine If you weren't too hungover to remember lol, I would love to hear what the psychologist had to say regarding how to make a marriage work after weight loss. I haven't run into any issues yet, but lord knows I want to know how to fix them if I do heh. -
Congratulations, Kylie!! That's fantastic Give it another month or too and they'll be too big for you hehe.
-
o0o there's an idea!! I too, got a really stupid one when I was 16, on my boob (I haven't a clue why lol). I've got a few others that look great, but that one, has stretched and discoloured and looks horrible. I didn't know they could be removed surgically, but I'll ask the PS about it when I go for my consult. I've always been embarassed to wear lowcut tops because of it. Congrats, Laura!

I knew the port was stitched in place, but didn't realize the band itself was? Learn something new everyday heh.
