dang it! Shouldn't I have the hang of this by now?
Parvathi replied to icecreamjunkie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
While you probably should get a small unfill, I've also read that if you eat a good bit at night, it will keep you restricted throughout the morning/midday/and sometimes afternoon. I have found that this has happened to me, so I tried cutting back at night and not eating after 8pm at all. For a few days, I was quite hungry in the evenings, but after that, I was able to get something down for Breakfast and lunch, therefor felt less hungry at dinner. Of course I occasionally slip up on that plan lol, but its all a learning curve. Its worth a shot -
Welcome aboard, Big Paul Its good to see more testosterone popping out of the woodwork. Good luck on the 17th!

I did eat really healthy this weekend as we were away in Sydney on business, so that may have contributed, plus walking alot to and from meetings.

I plan on getting a reduction/lift early next year. My size 36G's just don't cut it anymore lol .. and boy do they hang low. The other day I was looking in the mirror and started singing to my hubby, "Do your boobs hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow?" hehe

Congratulations Maria!!! Out of all my scale victories, I think 99 felt the best hehe. Enjoy your pedicure - I'll get one today in your honour (any excuse aye *g*)

It will be soon hehe ... Congrats!!!

what have you done because you were embarrased of your weight?
Parvathi replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Great thread!! Ordered an extra drink to make it look like I wasn't the only one eating When asked by the lady fixing a sandwich if I wanted <insert condiment here> reply with, "Umm, yea, I think he likes that on it. Oh well, he'll eat it regardless". Put a jacket over my lap in the plane, to avoid people seeing that the seatbelt wouldn't fasten (was too stubborn to ask for an extender). Hiding wrappers Trying to eat quietly so no one would know I ate (as if they thought I was a martian or something lol) -

o0o that sounds like it'll land you with a fantastically interesting job! Congrats on winning the scholarship - that's huge!! It'd suck being away from home, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end. I lived in Seattle for a few years and absolutely adored it.

From my understanding, of the brochures they gave me, the tummy tuck can be seen as reconstructive if you've lost a large amount of weight. The breast reduction, while cosmetic, also has a medicare code because of back problems and such. I guess the PS's have the knowledge of how to get around some of the red tape? I'm with MBF...

So I went for my consult with the PS yesterday. I was looking to have a tummy tuck (for the excess skin now flapping on my stomach lol) and a breast reduction (36G and hasn't went down any in the cup size). I had a good long talk to the surgeon explaining what I wanted - a flat tummy and boobs that were "small enough to be perky and stand by themselves, but big enough to still get attention when I walk down the street" LOL. We decided on a large C cup. The surgeon also recommended maybe doing a bit of lipo on my hips - they've always been huge, so I'm all for it. I really liked the surgeon, as he made me feel extremely comfortable. I know a few people that have used him and were really pleased with his work. The downside though, is that he would want to do it in two seperate surgeries. He said that because they're both quite long, the risks are higher if combined, plus, with having kids, he says recovery would be alot worse doing them both at once. While that's not ideal, I guess I can live with it. He recommended spacing them out 3 months apart. I know a few people had asked about prices, so here's the quotes I got:- Abdominoplasty & Lipo on Hips (out of pocket, after Medicare and Insurance kick in) - $7211.40 Breast Reduction (out of pocket, after Medicare and Insurance kick in) - $5871.80 This includes the surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees, hospital fees, garmets (the special bra and body suit you have to wear afterwards). While I know I could get it cheaper if I went overseas, I would feel much more comfortable doing it here, and being at home to recover. I was thinking about maybe going for the first one (tt) in February, but after talking to the hubby, he recommended that perhaps I should put it off til around May, just to reach the goal weight and have maintained it for a couple of months. This of course, dependent on me actually reaching goal weight lol. It still seems sooooooo far away :/ Anyway, just thought I'd share for anyone wanting the info on pricing and stuff in this area.

Way to go, Kel!!! It's an amazing feeling, isnt it? Not much further to go now! -
Oh YaYYYYYY! That's fantastic news, fee. Congrats

Hi akgraves - welcome to LBT Before being banded, I had two modes - starving or stuffed to the point of wanting to vomit. There was no in between and when eating, there was no off switch - I stopped when the food was gone. Add to this, I generally made unhealthy choices in my meals. The band has helped me to realize what feeling full means - not stuff. It has also helped me to make better food choices. It's not a miracle fix, by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a tool that if worked correctly, can help immensely. Good luck in your research.

WoW Betty - Congratulations!! Not only a fantastic scale victory, but sooooooooooo many NSV's as well! You've done a remarkable job - we're all very proud of you. Thanks for sharing your story

Hi ConnorsMom, Sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it. Being that tight is never any fun. I tend to stay on liquids a few days after a fill, just to allow things to settle down. I'm also quite stubborn about waiting a few days until I decide if I'm too tight or not though. If you're feeling uneasy, give your doctor a call and just explain to him. He can make a good recommendation as to what to do. Hope you're feeling better very soon.
-
Mine never did any of that. I guess each doctor has a different technique, though, which would definitely affect things. The only way I can find my port is if I lay on my back and start poking around. Its quite deep, which I suppose I'll be happy about after a tummy tuck LOL. Thanks for your post though SuperDaddy - it gave me a giggle
-
Megan, I just want to echo what everyone else has said - you truly are an inspiration. Your post was so eloquent. Thank you for sharing. I wish you much continued success along this journey.
-
My last fill took a week and a half to kick in, then OMG did it hit me hard lol. Ended up having it taken back out after a week on liquids/mushies. That's very cool that you can fit more than 4cc's in it
-
Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, Kel Definitely get back on the Vitamins. It can't hurt at all and might just give you the extra boost you need.
-
What a fabulous NSV!! Well done to your DH - that's spectacular Oh .. and all the questions Anwyn asked, because I've been wondering for a while too, but was scared to ask lol.

Proof that Carbonation Can Damage a Band
Parvathi replied to DeLarla's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not a huge soda drinker, never have been. But I do like the occasional half a can of coke in the evenings and I drink it without any guilt. When I do this, I drink the regular stuff, not diet. Hate diet coke and I figure if I'm going to allow myself something bad, I might as well enjoy it. My drink of choice when we go out has always been vodka, lime cordial and soda Water. Since being banded though, while a bit of carbonation doesn't bother me, its not something I can drink all night long, so I've switched the soda water to plain water. Tastes the same but goes down smoother. As Loopy said, the no carbonation rule isn't something I've heard here in Australia as it is in the States. Guess that's a good thing cause if my doctor told me its a no no, I'd listen to him lol.
