I've had that happen before and then two or so weeks later it hit .. then I was overfilled lol. The band is fickle...
-
This happened to me when I was overfilled, time before last. I had horrible night reflux and would wake up choking, gasping for air. A small unfill fixed me right up, along with a prescription for reflux, which I now take daily. Haven't had it happen since. Definitely go talk to your doctor though. Hope you feel heaps better soon

Glad to hear everything's going so well, Jacqui! All that walking will definitely help with the gas pains you should start feeling soon. Just make sure to get some rest in as well and take care of yourself

That's very sweet, Crystal My hubby has toyed with the idea of getting the band. He probably wouldn't qualify though - at 6'0" and 260lbs, his bmi is 35. He's healthy as a horse and has no co-morbidities. His doctor is amazed at how healthy he is lol. He's also a bread addict, with fresh baked bread bringing him much joy, so he'd be miserable with the band. I think its very cool though, that some couples get to go through this all together. If for no other reason than because they have someone they love that understands what they're going through.

Sometimes you can avoid this by slowing down even more when eating. It also depends on what foods you're having.... The band is fickle. You'll get the hang of it and you'll learn when to stop, but its hit and miss until that happens. Good luck.

Poll: Howzit working for you?
Parvathi replied to GeezerSue's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've gone from 41 (morbidly obese) to 27.9 (overweight). Can't wait to get to normal. -
hahahaha! Don't worry, I won't tell anyone its you Mine can evidentally be heard 10,000 miles away, as my mum asked me when we were speaking on the phone last week, "What in the world is that noise?? Are you BURPING?!?"

I got a fill 2 weeks ago. Didn't notice too much of a difference until this past Thursday - wasn't able to eat much that day, but the band is fickle, so tossed it up to that. On Friday morning, the dh and I flew up to Sydney for work. I was rushing around all morning getting ready and didn't have time to eat. That's fine, I don't generally eat much in the morning anyway. So we get to Sydney and we're standing in the taxi rank waiting, when I start feeling a bit nauseous. I had taken my birth control and sometimes it has that effect. I turned to my hubby and said, I think I need to go to the restroom. That's the last thing I remember. Next thing I know I'm laying on the ground (in my new suit lol), with a dozen people surrounding me asking if I'm okay. After a bit of orange juice I was able to function again, but I felt off all weekend. The restriction gradually increased over the weekend to where now, I'm only able to get down small sips of Water and sometimes not even that. I've got an appointment to have an unfill today. Even with a weekend of not eating hardly anything, I didn't lose any weight since I left last Friday (dammit lol). I've got an appointment with my GP tomorrow to test my blood sugar and such, as I've got a feeling that's what it is. But would this be caused by the band and the changes in my eating habits?

I'm so hearing ya on the noises thing. I gurgle constantly and boy is it embarassing lol. That said, I don't let it stop me from eating in public, as I've had one bad PB in public and that taught me. I'm very picky when we go out as to what I'll even attempt to eat now. I've also recently learned to just say screw it and if someone gives me a weird look when I gurgle or comments on how little I eat, I just hit em with the "I've had weightloss surgery and <fill in the blank>" I've been surprised on how interested they've all been - not one bad comment so far.

I love San Fran! So many things to see and do. How long will you be there? I've flown alot recently and haven't noticed any restriction changes or tightening, but they've all been shorter flights (3 hrs and under). That might change on my flight to the states...
-
*blushing* lol thanks Kel! Still 10kgs (or more, depending on how happy I am when I get there) to go for my goal, but I gotta tell, it is feeling good! You're getting there too!! Only 13 to go - we'll probably hit it on the same day lol. Ready for that end of journey party? I'll head up to Sydney (was there just over the weekend)...

I'm so sorry to hear this, Penni. Sending hugs, prayers and happy thoughts your way. Wish there was something we could do ...

That's no good at all :/ Get out the disinfectant lol.... Hope you and Eliza (i love that name) are feeling better soon

If you're at a good restriction level and can still eat most things only in smaller quantities, I would say stay where you are. If you're a bit tight and eating some of the foods in Mexico will be difficult for you (as I'm sure some stuff you would normally settle for in the states won't be readily available), I'd say get a small unfill, like 0.1 or 0.2cc. Speak with your doctor on the way through and see what he recommends. I am leaving to go overseas next Tuesday. I was really tight over the weekend and unable to comfortably swallow water, so I got an unfill of 0.2ml yesterday. Honestly, 0.1ml removed would have been sufficient for me to be comfortable, but my doctor and I agreed that because I don't have a doctor overseas, I don't want to get over there and be too tight, as it would make for a miserable holiday. It really is a personal decision though, so trust your judgment, as only you know how you'll react if you put back on a few pounds while gone. Have a great holiday Estella! And congrats on shedding that 10 lbs

LOL .. nope not preggers and thankfully, the suit was fine. Will have to be dry cleaned due to a cut on my knee, but that'll be okay heh. I had 0.2ml of fill removed yesterday, so on that side of things, I'm feeling much better. My doctor and I agreed that while that would leave me with the ability to eat more than I'd like (before that 0.2ml was added previously, I felt almost wide open), its better than being overseas and too restricted. After hearing some horror stories of doctors, I'd much rather leave all my band-care to the one I trust if possible. If I put on a kilo or five while on holidays, so be it. When I get back I'll have a fill and try to get it back off (of course, I'd whinge like mad about it though LOL). I saw my GP this morning. She reckons it was a combination of low blood pressure and low blood sugar that brought on the fainting. My blood pressure has always been on the low side, but it was lower than usual today - 90/50 sitting, 82/44 standing. She says this is due to the weight loss but if I start feeling dizzy when standing and such, we probably need to evaluate it again. She's also doing blood test for blood glucose, cholesterol, Iron levels, liver function (she said this one is actually really important after banding or bypass) and umm, something else that I can't remember lol. I should have the results of this series tomorrow around lunchtime. She wasn't too worried about it all but told me of course, to keep something to snack on in my bag at all times, just in case. On a side note (and I meant to include this yesterday), my wonderful hubby was so sweet all weekend. We were in business meetings the whole time, but he kept checking on me, worrying himself silly every time I so much as got up to go to the restroom. He really is great. At the end of the trip, on Monday afternoon, we had a few free hours til our flight, so we walked around the city. Found ourselves at Tiffany's. Walked out with two lil blue boxes *g* (my first ones ever). I think mostly, it was because he felt bad for me not being able to eat at all the nice restaurants we went to lol.

Carmen, thanks so much for sharing! Its so good to hear how the band has changed people's lives, a year or more out. While coming to these realizations about your life can be hard, it sounds like it's also improved your life. Congratulations for both your physical and mental accomplishments! Wishing you much happiness in the future.

Welcome to the club, Shari Lou. You are by no means psycho - very much normal. That said, you're a much stronger person than I because I'm a scale addict (weigh once a day, in the morning, after going potty, without fail) and haven't been able to bring myself to hide the scale. It definitely dictates my day, but I've learned that it fluctuates and try not to let it get to me anymore. Good job on realizing that help/healing on the inside is needed. Its a big step and one that has definitely helped me in this journey.

That's wonderful, Debby!! My husband and my best friend were the same, in that they didn't notice til I got out the 'before' picture. I guess it's just the seeing each other every day thing - makes it hard to tell. Very happy for you

I've always been unregular and it sucks lol, but recently I started taking metamucil capsules. I can't do the drinks, they make me gag, but the capsules actually go down quite well, for me. That seems to have helped. While I try to get fiber through greenage, with the amount of restriction I currently have those small salads just don't cut it.

I've got to admit, that the past few weeks, life has given me plenty of reasons not to exercise. I've submitted to it and made excuses for not showing up at the gym. My hubby, who usually says nothing to me about this kind of stuff, has even mentioned in passing my slackness lol .. not out of meanness, but because he knows I feel better when I've been to the gym. When I started losing weight after being banded and joined the gym, I walked to a near by fitness clothing shop. They have some absolutely amazing workout clothes in styles I'd never seen, but nothing to fit me. It was discouraging to say the least (don't get me started on how stupid it is to not offer workout clothes for the ppl who need them most lol). So when my hubby mentioned we'd have to work late tonight, he said, "but you could go to the gym after work while I finish up if you want?" I thought .. suuuure lol. But at lunch I went to the shop that didn't have anything to fit me before. This time, I could fit into their gear and if I do say so myself, I look amazing in it LOL. So I bought a couple of pieces and can't wait now, for the day to end so I can pop into the gym Who would have thought new clothes would make me feel like getting sweaty hehe

YaYYY Anwyn!! Feels great, doesn't it? Ya'll are right about music though .. I couldn't possibly workout w/out my ipod cause the gym I go to plays really crap music LOL.
-
So sorry to hear of your problems, Cindy. You'll be in my thoughts as you go in for the next surgery. It sucks big time ..
-
That's the best news I've heard all week! Wonderful Jonathon. Congratulations
-
*blushing* thanks everyone!! I tell ya, I haven't felt that good at the gym in ages. Last night was one of my best workouts so far. May seem silly, but not wearing my sweatpants and oversized tshirts just did the trick for me. Jachut, thank you so much for the kind words. You're going to do great in this, because you're head is on straight and its obvious you've got a strong determination!
