    what about straws?

I use a straw on occasion. I didnt the first 6 months but now I do. I would say maybe once a month I use a straw. I have this past week since my plastic surgery just easier than trying to sit up. I haven't had any problems with gas.

    Long time bandsters

hey there. I have had no problems in fact I am a huge pro Lapband advocate. I got to goal in less than a year and here I am way below my original goal 9 days plastic surgery post op. If I got to tight in my fills I sometimes would vomit but it wouldn't be bad since everything came up in like an egg ball.. it' mostly mucus. I don't know how to explain but it would just slide out. gross but trying to be honest. I believe in being overly aggressive with fill especially at first. just sit in waiting room and sip on a full glass of water before you leave appt. if you can drink it no problem if you can't get a little of the fill off. No wasting time  Good luck!

    Kate's "The Works" special

Hi Kate!! You are getting close now. I know you must be excited and nervous all in one! I am also laid off and my surgery came in at almost 19 grand. I am getting thighs in 3 months for an addition 6 grand. But you will be so glad you did it and spent the money on you. I can hardly wait to see your after pics!! Are you going to be staying with family after surgery? You will need 24 hour help for at least 4 days. At least that is what I found and I didn't have as much as you are. I think the arms are gonna be tough. You wont be able to use your stomach, chest or arms to move. You will need someone to pretty much scoop you up to go to the bathroom. I just want to be sure you are prepared with help. Keep us posted!!!
  4. Wow I feel so awesome today~ Last night I actually went out for like a 1/2 hour. It was great to get out. Today I am planning on showering then going shopping. I don't plan on being out for long but enough to start to feel normal lol. I need to find a bra. My hubby tried finding one yesterday while he was out black friday shopping. I guess a 36DD without underwire is hard to find. My doc says no underwire for at least 6 months. It's because of the scar below the breast. I still can't wear underwear until I get my drains out which is so frustrating. I want to take pics!!! Oh another hint for those getting ps. Pickup some sensitive baby wipes. You won't be able to shower daily and they are great to freshen up!
  5. I would buy the same size you are now.. with the compression garments my velour outfits are so loose. They used to fit snug. I definetly suggest zip up tops and drawstring pants. I do spend most of my time with just compression garments on since I keep going from sweating to death to freezing. But when I have visitors or go downstairs I wear my velour sets. I got them from NY and Co and love them. I also suggest the wedge pillow. It is nice because I use it laying down and sitting up. Bed bath and beyond is having 20 percent everything tomorrow early bird so you could get a great deal. mine was 29 regular price. Oh and I bought reusable Water bottles that have a straw and a flip up spout. They have been awesome to drink out of and not having to sit straight up. Also keep saltines on hand the oxycodones upset my tummy and the skin antibiotic tasted like feet so a little nibble on some saltines helped alot. Also you want some cough drops. If you get a tickle you want to avoid coughing at all costs it's horrific. Hope that helps.

    Daily News!

Happy Thanksgiving Junies! I am 1 week post op and feeling great. Every day is better. I hope you enjoy your day.
  8. Happy Thanksgiving!!! I actually am going to get to eat and enjoy some Thanksgiving food this year. I still have restriction but can eat which is nice. I am glad I got that 1cc out before surgery. I am still losing weight every day since surgery!! So must be my metabolism. MiMi~ I started preop in a comfortable 10. I have only wore comfy velour sets since surgery. There is no getting any real clothes over my swollen sore body lol. As to the compression garments he said 2 weeks of 24 hours a day then 3rd week go to 12 hours during day and no compression at night. My boobs are so hard and swollen still. I am starting to itch. My scars are all healing very nicely. I did post some more pics last night. I don't like the front views I feel it's to exposed. There is one from 4 days post op. I can't put underwear on since my tubes come out the mound of my vagina. once I can put something on I will take front pics. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Skinnyjeans turn for a flat tummy

hey there. I am so glad you are feeling good. As for your question my hubby has been asking since the day of surgery lol.. this is from my doctors office: It depends on what you are planning to do! More or less, follow the same restrictions as for exercising. You cannot strain your abdominal, thighs, and back muscles greatly for the first six to eight weeks. Having said this, it is very helpful for your body, soul and psyche to have intimate relationship early on. This will also be beneficial for your significant other. They are most likely as scared as you are; and are afraid to do anything that might hurt you. Don’t be afraid. Proceed as is comfortable for both of you. So I hope that helped lol.

    Post Plastic Surgery!

Well, I am home and finally on the good side of recovery. I ended up getting a uti that I swear just about killed me. I have all these compression garments on and could not pee and when I did it was a trickle and extremely painful. I started running a fever and hubby freaked. I am on meds and doing much better. I have to say the tummy and boobs feel great the most painful thing was the lipo of the thighs. I was really surprised this hurt the most. I thought that would be the least painful. I will be posting pics either tonight or tomorrow of my afters.. they might not be that pretty, I am really bruised and swollen but the swelling has come down quite a bit. My hubby loves the new me  I swear I can hear my implants sloshing around when I move. Weird. I am hoping I can get my drains out on Wednesday when I go to the doc. They are a pain in the butt. I took a shower yesterday and it was glorious. LOL. My hubby came in with me to wash and support me. I am slowly weening of the pain killers and will be glad when I am able to get around without being exhausted. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I'm pretty bummed I wont be out with all the other Black Friday shoppers :cool2:
  11. Well we made it home, round trip five and a half hours to go to the doc. I got the pain pump out and about half of the lipo stitches. I have to go back next thursday to get the drains and some more stitches removed. I am smaller and smaller every day so weird. I said that today to the doc that I feel like I am shrinking and he said you are. He said that every day I will be smaller as the fluid escapes through drains or just normal every day life. I finally had some relief with the bowels. It was ok until I started having a coughing fit holy moly that was terrible. I advise no coughing and no sneezing with garment down, up it's bad enough. My doc was thrilled with my incisions and said they are healing so nice and flat. My hubby is a wonderful nurse lol. The doc also was so excited when my garment came down he was telling danny look how nice and flat and see how she now has muscles on the sides, I can't see since my boobs are ginormous now but was excited to hear him say it looks like I will have a 6 pack when I am done .. who would have ever thought. lol. We talked about my thigh lift and he says I don't need one but will do one if I really want it. I think I do. I didn't do all this not to go the whole way lol. My teen daughters are making a vegetarian Thanksgiving for us so sweet. I have friends bringing turkey lol. I am bummed not to be out there shopping on black friday. :cool2: So all in all appt went great, I feel great, I didn't take any pain meds not even tylenol today and still feel great just tired. Going to go nap. But first I want to say how Thankful I am for all of you my lapband friends xoxoxo Have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
  12. hey there.. well my advice is a pretty easy one, every time I hit a plateau I excercized as much as I could. I did it every day until the scale started moving and tried to bump up my metabolism. Keep your body moving. Maybe also keep track of how many calories are you eating a day. Something is off. You must be eating enough to maintain but not lose. Sounds like possibly you could be eating to many calories. I since being banded eat between 400-900 calories per day. I have been a super fast loser, never hungry, I always eat protein protein protein. I stay away from rice and pasta since it swells in the pouch and can stretch it. I hope this helps boost you. I think you probably already knew all these things but sometimes seeing them in front of you is the kick you need. Good luck and keep posting how you are doing. there is a thread on here share what you ate today and it's great for ideas and to keep you accountable for what you ate. It's like money, you spend it and can't figure out where your money went. Calories are like that you could be eating thousands of calories and don't realize it. I hope I helped.

    being banned on 11/25

woo hoo today is the day.. good luck and happy banding!
  14. For me top three that helped me get to goal in under a year: 1. no rice or Pasta 2. never eat more than half a cup at a time. 3. eat what you love but Protein first I would also say keep hydrated. I wasn't a big excercizer but I did keep my body moving. I hate excercize but know that my wii fit really helped boost my weight loss in the first 6 months. Find excercizes you love, like swimming, or rock climbing or anything just keep your body moving.
  15. I told EVERYONE lol even strangers and I really never got a bad reply.. I was and am so excited about it. This saved my life who cares how it happened but it saved me. If someone ever was negative I wouldn't care but I needed to tell everyone to help keep me in line. I knew if I kept it a secret I wouldn't be held as accountable if I didn't lose. I had to work hard, I had to follow the band rules, if I didn't I wouldn't lose and everyone would know. Soooo it worked for me I hit goal before a year, I am now wayyy below my original goal have lost over half of my orgiginal body weight and just had plastic surgery as the cherry on top. Good luck and there really is no right answer. You have to do what is right for you

    halloween 2009 goal weight!

this was from before plastic surgery  I am only 5 days post off from plastic surgery.
  20. hi again.. I am also getting a thigh lift in 3 months. I am really worried about the pain but know once I do that I will feel like I'm complete lol. Please keep me updated on your thigh lift recovery!!!

  21. hey there.. I am doing much better thanks for asking. I have to say the lipo of the thighs was the worst, the tummy and boobs hurt but the thighs killed. Could be because I had the pain pump for tummy and boobs. I am doing better every day. How long did it take for you to be able to go out? Like shopping and stuff?

    ps update

Good Morning! I actually slept through the night for the first time since surgery. Due to the UTI I was getting up every 20 min to a half hour (my poor hubby). He said to me yesterday as we were watching Kung Fu Panda that there are no accidents, maybe I needed to get up alot to speed up my recovery. Ok so back to the Kung Fu Panda, I do not normally watch cartoons ok I admit I never watch cartoons but the Oxycodone causes me to have terrible nightmares if I watch anything but childrens shows. Ridiculous right? It's ok some of these cartoons are pretty cute. Some on the other hand are pretty not acceptable for children! Ok enough of my rant. I am feeling pretty sore today. I figure that is pretty normal. I am telling you the lipo of the thighs is the worse pain of all. Holy Moly. I was feeling so great all day yesterday, still haven't gone to the "bathroom" which is a worry since I am alone today and don't know if I can get this compression garment off by myself. There is a whole at the bottom but not enough to safely go anything more than pee. (sorry if to much info). So yesterday when my hubby got home I said I feel great I would love to take a shower so in I went. Well, it was to much. I got my hair washed and almost passed out. Thank God he was in there with me. I agree a chair in the shower is a good idea. I felt so terrible for like 1 hour after. Tomorrow is my first post op appt. I hate that it's an hour and a half away. I called my doc and I asked if i would be getting my drains out and he said no. I would get the pain pump out though. Well I hope everyone has a great day!!
