who here has been banded for at least 2 years and has had NO complications?
allielee replied to Lapbandster's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
updated: my band eroded and had to be revised on May 21, 2014 to bypass. -
Today I started the 5 day pouch test.. I will be a year out from revision from band to bypass on May 21. I have found myself snacking on almond m&m's and have developed an addiction to them. I am at my goal weight but I don't want to fall in to this bad habit so this morning I set my mind to do liquids for the next 2 days and then mushy etc. I'm really hoping this helps me get back on the healthy eating track. Sugar does nothing to me unfortunately. I wish it did. I can't eat fatty or fried foods which has been great. I'll check back in with if it helps. Has anyone else found they couldn't stay away from something bad for you after bypass food wise? Did you find anything that helped?

that's how I started at the 6 months point a couple pieces here and there and then it became more and more.. So far so good on my pouch test. I have lost 3 pounds (which I'm not trying to do) and my sugar craving is pretty much gone. Happily!!!! So I'm on day 2 of liquids I may keep on liquids for a third day to be sure I'm off the sugar.. Fingers crossed.

Gastric Bypass during Menopause
allielee replied to KatByteK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgical menopause a year before my bypass and honestly there is nothing different. I don't take hormones due to cancer. -
Allielee. Do u make your own rotisserie chicken? If so, I would love your recipe heck no lol I buy them from BJ's for $4.99 I can't even buy a raw chicken for that amount.. Definitely worth buying them premade.. Especially when I get them on sale for $3.99 at our commissary.

Anyone buy Premier Protein at Sam's Club?
allielee replied to MrsRoboto's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
12 pack at bjs is $18.99 every day. When they go on sale for $15.99 I buy a bunch. -
Honestly my favorite lunch is rotisserie chicken leg and 4 Brussels sprouts lol. I also like ham and cheese Rollups with spinach.

How are people paying for plastics?
allielee replied to hkdontplay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, thigh lift and advanced Lipo. I used savings.. I am getting a face lift and full face laser resurfacing in sept. Will also be using savings.. My hubby and I looked at it like the cost of car. It was necessary and he will get a lot more mileage out of me lol. I personally wouldn't go out of country and I researched my surgeon (he is one of the top plastics docs in CT) super happy with my results so far and I could care less if I have to drive an old truck instead of a new fancy car. -
Make sure you test your reaction at home.. I used to drink and could handle a lot of alcohol.. After bypass I tried wine, White Russians and vodka with crystal light.. It all went right to my head and made me feel awful. Some times I had no problem and could sip but other times I felt terrible.. I have decided to not drink since it was no longer enjoyable..

Beginning the Process of getting a revision and scared of being a failure again!
allielee replied to stleochic's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Notinks, Just read your post and I have had my lap band for 7 years and was wondering if the length of time you have had your band increase the complication rate of the conversion to Gastric bypass?? I am wondering about weakened esophagus tissue where the band was...... Did your doctor mention anything about this pre-op for you? Did you have your lap band removed separately from your gastric bypass? If so, how long between the two surgeries? Thanks so much. Wish my surgery was behind me, but know all will be worth it! I had mine for 7 years before it eroded.. Had was revised in one surgery.. Easiest surgery I ever had honestly.. No complications.. -

How can you 'eat' food so soon after RNY?
allielee replied to meyouus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it's very hard for people to rid themselves of mind hunger. I know it was for me. I really struggled with only drinking. Luckily I did awesome and worked through it but I can see how easily it would be if you didn't have support. -
Post operation....what's everyone drinking?
allielee replied to raquel_c's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink water with a tiny squeeze of mio. I drink 96 ounces of water every day. I found that having a routine of always having my tall 24 ounce cup next to me I can get 4 down. Also at least one premier protein chocolate every day lol. -
Good luck! Remember to walk immediately as much as you can.. Walk walk walk. The gas pain is the worst if you don't.

September 3, 2015 is my final surgery! I am so excited. In 2008 I was banded lost all my weight had a breast lift, gummy bear implants, thigh lift and tummy tuck.. In May 2014 I was revised from band to bypass because my band had eroded. So my final surgery will be my face lift and full face laser resurfacing. I'm thrilled. I have used the same surgeon for all my plastics and I love him!!! Dr passaratti in Darien, ct. The only surgery that didn't give me awesome results was my thigh lift but I don't want the scar down my leg for the median thigh lift. Im happy with them just not thrilled lol. I have been a self pay for all my surgeries so the new me has cost $87,500 but I am worth every damn penny! I have never been happier!

I am strong, beautiful, intelligent, kind, loving and loved. After a terrible childhood I almost didn't survive, I am happy and madly in love with my husband of 24 years. We raised two awe inspiring women. They both graduated college and now we have an amazing granddaughter. I thank God for my life every single day. I live every day like it is my last and love my family that way. I have no regrets and I have the life I never even could have dreamt of. Surprisingly I didn't allow my parents to destroy me. I chose to be the very best person I could be! Love this thread.

BMI 35 or lower. Would you sleeve or bypass?
allielee replied to OldMomOf3's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I was a revision from band to bypass. I never even considered the sleeve. I only wanted one last surgery.. After seeing the sleeve to bypass revision board I knew I would only do the bypass.. And I love it -
