    Oldie but newbie

Thanks James!! So far so good!
  4. Hi! I'm an oldie because I had lapband in 2008. I lost all my weight in 9 months and kept it off easily for 5&1/2 years. I even had gotten a tummy tuck, breast lift with aug, thigh lift and advanced lipo and then BAM my worst fear.. It failed me, it had grown in to my stomache and it had to be removed. So they took all the fluid out and I began the battle to get it out and transferred to bypass. My doctor said almost all the Lapbands are failing after 5 years ( very disappointing!) I had paid in cash for my lapband so trying to get my insurance to pay was a battle, won which I lost. Either way I had to gain 45 pounds to be eligible to get the bypass.. I have a wonderful doctor who gave me a HUGE discount and did the surgery in one swoop. I really wish I had gotten the bypass in 2008! My insurance would have paid for that but not lapband and at the time my hubby was to afraid of the risks of bypass and chose to pay.. Well here I am, I had the surgery on May 21, 2014. Surgery went awesome and I feel awesome. I was discharged 24 hours after surgery! I could have stayed an extra day which I paid for but I felt awesome and wanted to be in my own bed. Every day I have felt better than the day before and as of this morning I am down 16 pounds!!!! I am thrilled with the choice I made and I am excited this hopefully will be my LAST surgery! I'm 44, married for 23 years two daughters 21&22 both graduated college with bachelors and our youngest daughter is 38 weeks pregnant with our first granddaughter! Yipee!!! So that's me in a nut shell! ❤️

No idea why I have to wait.. I only have to take two chewable multivatin by bariactric advantage and one chewable caramel vitamin d .. Also by bariactric advantage. I tried them preop and they are yummy will be like dessert lol I was also thinking they weight would come off slower this time. I like that it's flying off though lol

I hear ya on the hair loss!! I hate my doc is making me wait to start my vitamins until week 3. I had thinning from lapband but had cancer and had to have a complete hysterectomy in October which threw me into surgical menopause.. Ugh worst thing f*ing EVER! Haha I lost quite a bit of hair from that..I can't take hormones due to blood clotting disorder and the cancer so it's been rough but I'm finally feeling better physically and emotionally, found some "natural" remedies that have made a huge difference.. Today I had a huge surprise! I got on the scale and I am down 16 poounds!!! Yipee! Hope you have a great day!!
  9. I'm so sorry you are having troubles!! That is terrible! I haven't had any nausea since day of surgery had a patch but took it off Friday (lapband removal and bypass was wed 5/21) I couldn't imagine feeling sick. My heart breaks for you both! I only spent 24 hours in the hospital. I actually have been up every day even went shopping yesterday and to a picnic. I'm not hungry at all but have head hunger like I think I want to eat lol I've been cooking hubby food and it smells good but I really don't want it. I've kept my protein up (drinking nectar cAppucinno) and lots of crystal light and sugar free pops. I only had to do 2 days of clear liquids pre op and today is a week since I started it.. And I am down 16 pounds. That has helped motivate me to ignore my head hunger lol. I pray you all are feeling great ASAP!!! I had a terrible time after my lapband in 2008 so I remember how tough it can be. I did a colon cleanse day before surgery and wow I think that helps a lot I also take a cap of miralax a day and have had no issues with BM. Hope you all feel great today and are excited about this new adventure you are on!! ❤️

Wow we have a lot in common I also had breast lift with augmentation, thigh lift, tummy tuck and advanced lipo. Loved the results , still do lol. My hubby always says he will get way more mileage out of me than any vehicle and doesn't regret one penny we spent!!! Lol. How are you feeling with drinking?? I haven't had any pain from drinking I just keep sipping and wondering how much I can sip but I definitely do not want to throw up.. Hoping after that damn lapband I never throw up again lol sounds like we are pretty close to how much we want to lose!

I wish I could avoid the scale but I can't lol I've been OCD about it since I got the lapband in 2008. I had lost all my weight and kept it off for over 5 years. Then bam major issues with my band had to get an unfill.. Gah! Gained 50. Thank God I got the revision to bypass before I gained all that weight back! I had a tummy tuck in 2009 and was terrified I was going to ruin it! So I only have like 40 pounds left to lose. Although I wouldn't mind losing 50 hahaha..

Oh I'm sorry!! I can say I'm usually a major wuss but luckily this time I haven't had lots of pain. I'm down 14 since Monday (I had to do 2 days of clear liquids for my preop diet) going to gnc today to look for a "good tasting" protein shake for my stage 2 which starts Wednesday. I'm looking forward to some non sweet soup too lol. I hope you feel a lot better today min!

    Surgery scheduled but nervous

I agree don't be scared! I had my band removed and revision to bypass on May 21. I went home the following day and feel awesome! No pain just a little sore.. So glad I did it!!!! Good luck!
  16. A quick tip for those who haven't had surgery yet. Day before surgery I took 3/4 bottle of miralax. Cleaned me right out.. Not having constipation or worrying about a bm is definitely easier. I remember last surgery I was in agony from constipation. ????

    Daily news may 2014

I'm in CT I don't start puréed until 2 weeks from now. I'm still feeling awesome. I really have been lucky.. Since I had a tummy tuck my skin was to right for glue or internal stitches so is have outside stitches.. Can hardly wait to use my mederma on them. That stuff was a lifesaver last time could barely see my scars.

    Anyone scheduled for May 2014?

Had my revision from lapband to rny yesterday and I am already home and feeling great! Surprised at how little pain I have! I did a bowel prep day before and wonder if that may have helped because this was the easiest surgery I have had to date. Hope everyone is well!
