  1. It made my marriage even stronger.. I think if you love each other.. Really love each other before surgery you will be fine.. If you married someone you "settled" for, losing weight can make you reevaluate. We have been married 23&1/2 amazing years. He loved me thick and he's loved me thin. Our marriage has always been awesome but my confidence in myself with losing weight has just added to the marriage.
  2. It was a good first meeting! Looking forward to the next one.
  3. Oh no momma , I hope you feel better ASAP! My oldest daughter has chronic pancreatitis and it can be debilitating.. I will pray for a quick recovery!!!!

    Ugh! Stalled!

Had lapband to rny on May 21,2014. Lost 20 and then bam I have been stalled!!! I go up and down 2 pounds for the past week. It's so frustrating, makes me think I am doing something wrong. I know it's a stall but I worry I won't lose anymore.. It's messing with my head major! I really expected to continue losing like I was. I know it's not reality though. When I was banded in 2008 I was 300 pounds lost 120 in 9 months. Had to gain some to get the revision to rny so day of surgery I was 245. Now I am 225 and stuck. I wish I had the power to not weigh daily but I am so OCD I need to know lol. Any veteran revisioners to through this at the beginning??

    PB2

I tried the PB2 and it's ok.. I would rather have real peanut butter. I think pb2 is ok in shakes but that's about it for me. I only have maybe a tablespoon of real peanut butter a week and it is worth it to me lol we all have different taste preferences. You can see this especially with protein shakes hahaha some people swear by shakes I think taste like crap lol

    Menopause & bypass

Well it was a fluke. It was the blood thinners I was on.. Wondering now if I can be on them for life lol hot flashes and night sweats are back with a vengeance. ????
  8. Yep even your bra lol they put the catheter in while you are out cold (thank god).
  9. Yes you have to be naked except for the gown going in to surgery. They usually put a catheter in. Some people have drains as well.. I had them take my catheter out 2 hours after surgery. I wanted to walk without it lol.
  10. Glad you caught it!! I am sure they would have caught it beforehand since they ask 5 million times what surgery are you having day of surgery.. What a disappointment that would have been to have to go home and reschedule! I would have been pissed.. I had the pharmacy mix up my perscription.. Didn't realize until I got home and opened the bottle.. It was blue pills and I though huh what antibiotic is blue looked at the bottle and damn.. It was for a 1. Man and 2. Viagra.. Thank god I didn't take it! Haha now that would have been interesting I'm sure.. No one is perfect and unfortunately mistakes happen.. My last surgery (not wls) they left gauze inside me..
  11. Lol!!! I have to shower at least once a day too, a lot of times twice. I take one as soon as I get up and if I workout or go in my hot tub I always take a second one.. And I am OCD about teeth. My dentist has actually reprimanded me for over brushing! I was like uhh what!!? Lol he said I was destroying my enamel from over brushing. I like clean teeth haha

    CAN'T DECIDE!

I also have a low bmi. I was at 35 day of surgery. I chose rny because 1. I had the lapband and it failed after 5 years 2. The sleeve is sometimes step one of bypass, I only wanted 1 more surgery. 3. My doc said weight loss results were greater in rny I had my band removed and rny same day on May 21,2014. Best choice I ever made!!!! Already down 20! I have 50-70 to lose. I asked my doc which one he would recommend to his family and he said without a doubt rny.. It's tried and true. That was reason enough for me.
  13. My doc said no problem to showering just don't let the water hit directly on the incisions and pat dry. My incisions have healed nicely and I am 2 weeks out. I showered every day since day of surgery too.
  14. I showered day after bypass surgery. Took my own cozy pjs, slippers, extension cord for my phone and charger. My own pillow (very important) my own quilt (they never give you enough blankets) ear plugs (hospitals are LOUD) luckily I had my own room but if you have a roommate that snores good luck! Toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, razor. Hair ties, cozy socks, earphones. I walked a lot after surgery and I can't function without a shower and brushed teeth. I used all of the above lol
  15. I'm going to try and attend.. I have a grandbaby due any day!
  16. I had rny and I wouldn't even consider the sleeve.. Rny has been a tried and true wls. I had the lapband and after 5 years it failed me.. I was done doing "new" wls. I wanted tried and true and I'm so glad I did!
  17. I am 15 days post op and down 20.2 yes I'm counting those .2 lol I have a low bmi 34.2 so I am expecting it to be slow from here on out.. Every person is different.. Sometimes the scale doesn't show but the inches show so make sure you measure too. Good luck!

I'm good! Back to normal pretty much..
  20. I had to also make this decision .. I had lapband and was successful with it until it failed. I had to choose between sleeve and bypass and I am self pay. So I asked my doc flat out. I said I never want to have another wls what should I do he said RNY!! Reason being is the sleeve sometimes is a step one of getting the rny. Check out the statistics especially in people with higher bmi. They are having to be revised from sleeve to bypass. For me it was easy. I was never going to do this again so I chose rny. Which has been the easiest surgery I have ever had and I had my band removed at the same time. I had issues with anemia and b12 with the band so I have been getting infusions since 2008 so the nutrient issue really wasn't a thought for me.. Hope that helps!!!
  21. Yoga girl , I'm having the same issue lol I asked my doc and he said just relax.. Your body is freaking out and holding on to everything.. Could be a day could be a week but one day you will wake up and bam be down a bunch. I lost 20 in 7 days and have been stalled for 4 very frustrating! I even threw my scale this morning. I hate that damn thing. If it goes down I feel awesome if it stays the same or goes up it puts me in a terrible mood. I wish I could stay away from the f*cker!
  22. I had lapband in 2008 and lost all my weight 125lbs in 9 months. Did so awesome with it I had all my plastics done.. Then a couple months ago bam I couldn't keep anything down.. Kept getting little unfills no relief and finally had to get the lapband removed and bypass on May 21,2014. My doc said most bands are failing after 5 years. He won't even put them in anymore, he said it's unethical knowing the failure rate. I was self pay for all the above so was very saddened I had to do a revision but saying that omg what a difference. I can drink fluids easily!! What a joy that is lol! I had to gain 50 to be eligible to have the bypass surgery.. What a mind f*ck that was. After being thin and being terrified of ruining my tummy tuck. All is well. I lost 20 in first week but have been stalled for 4 days. Saw the doc yesterday to have my stitches removed (skin to tight for glue from tummy tuck) he said I would lose much slower than others since most revision patients lose slower especially those who did well with previous lapband. I can hardly wait to get this weight off so I can fit back in my clothes lol trying to not be discouraged but man I was so pissed this morning to see the same damn number again! I picked it up and threw it lol it thankfully still works just a little cracked. Hahaha
  23. I had band removed and revised to bypass on May 21. I feel awesome! I could definitely go camping now. I found this easiest surgery I ever had.
