The tiredness is completely normal. Mine lasted well over 2 months. I am just over 3 months post op now and finally feel like my energy levels are back to normal. I had a really hard time with the tiredness especially while trying to keep up with my 8 and 6 year olds. There have been some pretty tough days along the way but they are few and far between now. So, try to remember that it does get easier... Best wishes!

What do you ladies recommend ?

All I wanted to do while I was in the hospital was sleep. Comfy clothes to go home in... And slippers. -
I just experienced my first stuck food. Holy painful! I had half of a slice if deli turkey. I though I chewed it up enough but apparently not... Tips to avoid this in the future?
-
You may be right. I had vomited too. I have no desire to repeat that experience again anytime soon.

I had my post op appt today with my surgeon. I am down 19 lbs from my last pre op visit. He is very pleased with my progress. I am currently in the waiting room waiting to see my dietician and may be able to move on to the next diet stage. :-)
-
I can totally see a difference! You are doing great! Keep up the good attitude. :-)
-
Nope. It is a shot.

I know each doctor is different and has different guidelines he/she has you follow. I was just curious how long yours has/had you stay on your liquids after surgery and also how long he/she keeps you on your protein shakes?
-
Mine keeps you on liquids until you return for your two week post op appt. The shakes for the first 4-6 months. (Just a note. Tomorrow is my two week from surgery. Follow up is on Wednesday. I will see then if he will advance me to the next stage of the diet.)

From what I was told, sometimes a nerve can be aggravated on the left side and it can be quite painful. My surgeon told me if that were to happen, they are able to do a nerve block and that will help.
-
I haven't. I never even heard of any of this until this post. It totally makes me excited. I have been terrible with my protein shakes the last few days. Every time I smell one I feel like I am going to throw up. :-(
-
I am going to have to try those syrups.... I am hating my protein shakes right now. Thanks for sharing!

After surgery did any of you have the feeling of needing to burp but not being able to? I have been taking chewable gas-x, but this feeling is so uncomfortable.

I totally can relate to the freaking out. I had my surgery a week ago tomorrow. That morning was really rough. I felt like an emotional wreak all morning. Just put your faith and trust into your surgeon. Everything is going to be fine. Remind yourself why you are doing this. When you feel ready to panic, take deep breaths and try to relax. The first 24-48 hours I found to be tough, but I have been off my pain meds since Friday and today walked 2 miles. And that is only 6 days post op... Stay positive! You can do this!!! :-)

Had my surgery on Monday (4/28). My first 24 hours were pretty sore and I experienced a lot of nausea. I got to come home last night. I am not sure if it is because I am home now, but wow I am feeling so much better. I am kind of afraid to drink too much, but am kind of just sipping away at my water. I figure tomorrow morning I will start logging everything and trying to slowly push my protein shakes. I am just so happy surgery is over and I can begin my new journey! :-)

My anxiety is going wild right now with only 24 hours left to go until surgery. Here is my question for those who have already had surgery... What is something you didn't know before surgery that you wish you would have known?
-
Have any of you had a fever after surgery? I just took my temp and it was 100.3. I know the doctor said to call if it is 101 or higher.
-
No other symptoms. I re-checked my temp a little while ago and it wand normal. Must have been a fluke thing.

I am so happy to see your post. It really does help to settle some nerves. :-) Focus on the positive right? -
Hello. I am new here. After a lot of rough waters I am finally having my surgery on Monday. (April 28th) I started my pre op liquid diet yesterday. I am getting really scared and nervous for the surgery now. I just wish I could fast forward to after recovery...
-
Good luck! My boss had the same thing. She is just over a year post op and doing great! :-)

Thank you. I just had such a rocky road getting to this point. Literally nothing in this process went smoothly. My insurance denied me at first saying that my co-morbidities weren't life threatening. My surgeon ended up having to call there and after a lot of work on his part, got it approved. I have been seeing a medical weightloss doctor for over three years and we just can't get the weight to come off and stay off. This is my next step. I have a small support system but also a few people that are judging me. I am just trying to surround myself with the positive at this point. To top everything off though... I have a sinus infection that I am hoping will be gone with my antibiotics by Monday so I don't have to reschedule my date....

Good luck! It sounds like you are ready to rock and roll! :-)
