I just received very bad news..... United Health Care TNCare has denied me to have the gastric sleeve due to my BMI being under 40 and my blood pressure is controlled with meds. Of course my BP is controlled with meds...what do they want me to do? stop taking my meds and have a heart attack???? This is awful. My surgeon now wants me to send a copy of my sleep study report that was done in 2014 and they will submit that with my paperwork and try again. I never knew it even mattered if your comorbidities were controlled by meds or not. Any suggestions or info is greatly appreciated at this point. I am sooooo upset. I have done everything that has been asked of me ...jumping through hoop after hoop and now this. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 203 lbs with a BMI of 37.1 if have high blood pressure, sleep apena, GERD.

I was denied today due to my BMI being 37.1 and my blood pressure is controlled with meds... what do they want me to do not take my meds and have a heart attack??? Of course my BP is controlled with meds that what the meds are for. I am sooooo upset I just want to give up. My surgeon is now resubmitting my paperwork with my sleep study. I also have sleep apnea and I have a cpap that I can't stand to use lol. Hopefully this time around I will get approved. If not I will just have to cry my eyes out and forget about it. -
Congrats!! I was just denied...BMI not 40 and blood pressure is controlled with meds. Now my doc is resubmitting my paperwork with my sleep study this time. Fingers crossed.

I just got a call and I was denied because my BMI isn't 40 and my blood pressure is controlled with meds. Now they have requested me to send them a copy of my sleep study done in 2014 and they are going to try to use that to get me approved. I have been crying so much since I got the bad new about 30 min ago. This makes me want to give up. I have jumped through every hoop to done everything that is asked of me and now I'm denied. I am already depressed...now this. I never knew it mattered if your blood pressure was controlled with meds or not. Of course the meds are going to control it...what do they want me to do go off my meds and have a heart attack??? This sounds crazy.

OMG...I just got a call from my doc and UHC has denied me because my BMI isn't 40 and my BP is controlled with medicine. Now I have to submit my sleep study report and my doc is going to try to get it approved with that info. I am sooooooo upset. I want to cry and give up. This is the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. -
First Meeting with Surgeon Tomorrow, confused and nervous
jonfsgirl replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also going thru the same thing my bmi is 38 with 3 comorbidities I went for my first consult visit in july 2014 started and stopped a 6 mth diet. Finally I restarted in June 2015 and just completed all required documentation. My surgeon wants me to come in jan 25th to update my chart since it's been so long since my first consult visit. I weighed exactly 200 lbs in 2014 and I'm at 199 lbs today so hopefully everything will work out and I will still be approved -
I'm from Lexington, TN and just completed 6 mth diet now waiting on approval once my doctor submits my paperwork. Dr. George Woodman is the surgeon. Has anyone been to him? Also, when I called to see if the Dr office received the paperwork I faxed them. I was told to allow 10 days for it to get in my chart and call back so I'm wondering how long it will be before they submit to my insurance if it is going to take 10 days just to file some papers in my chart at their office. I hope I'm choosing a good surgeon.

Tenncare United Healthcare Insurance
jonfsgirl posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Tenncare United Healthcare. I have just completed a 6 month physician monitored diet. I have already turned in all other requirements my surgeon. My surgeons office said to allow them 10 days to get my paperwork in my chart. I'm just wondering has anyone else with a bmi of 39 with high blood pressure, sleep apnea and GERD gotten approved with united health care tenncare insurance and how long did it take to hear from them once all paperwork was submitted? -

jonfsgirl replied to missmee's topic in Insurance & Financing
I am exactly 35.1 BMI with 2 comorbidities high BP and sleep apnea. I am scheduled to attend a seminar the 1st Monday in May. I was wondering the same thing about losing weight on the 6 month diet since I'm on the border line.
