    Slippage

Where i am at now: I am unfilled, he drew off 1cc of saline and left 1.5cc in. I am on liquids again. 3 weeks, we have another appointment to see how I am doing. (any food sticking, bringing it back up etc.) We may proceed to an upper GI to see how bad the slippage is. I have regained 15 lbs. of the 30 I lost before the surgery. The band was placed Oct. 15, 07.

    Slippage

No fills under fluoro. Yes fills are removed before refilling. No leakage. Am a water aerobic teacher, teach in the water, 4x a week and do strength training with equipment 2X a week. No restriction. Why measure food?

    Slippage

Ok Hi there.. Do I have a slippage? Wondering.. Banded in Boston on Oct. 15,07. 4cc band. No nausea, vomiting or any problems. Filled 5 times up to 2.5cc's. No restriction yet. No weight loss aside from what I lost prior to surgery. Got down to 299. Now am at 307. Hungry, able to eat a full meal and unhappy. :welldoneclap: M.D. proposing endoscopy to check band. :Banane53: any thoughts? suggestions?

Hi Jo thanks for the reply.. re: the strength training. I do 1/2 hour on the recumbent bike and go a total of 3 mi. Its aerobic.. and then the rest on the machines. Totals an hour. Yes I know, the Water is great for aerobics but I have been participating and teaching for over 10 years now without significant weight loss..unless I am on a restrictive diet..and I will gain that back in a flash once not dieting..

Hi Janet and all. I have had no restriction and have had 3 fills in a 4cc band..and its frustrating..I've gained 13 lbs back already (!) since Oct. when I was banded. My last fill was last Thursday with still no restriction. My surgeon said to make an appt. for 3 weeks rather than the 5-6 as usual..I did make a new appt. yesterday. It's not exercise with me..I work out at the gym 2x a week and I teach water aerobics 3x a week..it's most surely the hunger and the eating..and my metabolism I guess.:confused2: jude

Let me answer your questions: I was in the hospital overnight. My surgeon does an x-ray before you leave to make sure the band and the port are in place. Then you go home.:clap2: I had general anesthesia. The surgery usually takes a hour or so, then recovery room, then your room. I remember nothing after the sedation in the pre-op area. Next thing I knew was I was on the way to my room. I used no pain meds. Didnt need them. My co-morbidity is I have sleep apnea and I weighed 337 when I began the process. I do not have diabetes. I do have high BP + Hi cholesterol managed right now by meds. I am a Water aerobics instructor and lead a class... an hour of it 3x a week (i need to swim laps also but haven't gotten into it yet) I did go on a liquid diet..slimfast.. first and lost 37 lbs. It is IMPORTANT to reduce the size of your liver by losing wgt. before the surgery. The edge of the liver is right where they will be working on the banding process. I have had one fill. It has not impeded my intake here at the holidays..I am afraid I have gained back some of what I lost. My next fill will probably be restrictive. I hope. My appetite is the same as ever right now. I had no after affects of the surgery and was out of work for 1 day. I had no gas and very little discomfort. My guess is it will be the same for you because you work out in the pool. You will not be out for more that a couple of days if that. Because of the healing of the surgery sites my MD recommended 4 weeks out of the water. That was hard but I did it. I am retired but still work 20 hours a week at my old job. I am a social worker and work in a hospital here in Boston. Be happy to answer anything else. jude

Sorry I have been missing.. My surgery is Monday the 15th. Have to call today, Fri, to see what time to show up. Am excited and nervous as can be expected. Have been working like crazy to get stuff off my desk before I go out for 2 weeks..still am going to attempt to travel to WY to see my son for a couple of days. One of the hard things for me is that I can't be in the pool for water aerobics until the lap sites heal..I teach water aerobics from in the water at a city pool here in Boston..I miss it already. :cry So wish me luck:whoo: and best to all of you! jdot

Hi, I'm Jude and I am pre-band status altho I got my surgery date last week of Oct. 15th. My surgeon is Dr. Edward Mun at Faulkner Hospital in JP. I have been on a mostly liquid slim-fast diet for over 5 weeks now and have lost 13 lbs. Dr. Mun is very insistant on a non-fatty liver before the procedure. My BMI is 60 (or was) my weight was 334. All my presurgery work up has been done. I am hoping to travel to WY about 12 days after surgery...any opinions about that from you all? j:o
