How soon did you start exercising after surgery? Day 0ne, walking 5-15 minutes, more for relief. What kinds of activities? Walking, Walking, Walking. Trying to work in the bands. mmmm that will be my personal goal for Feb. Were you active prior to surgery? I started walking the day after my seminar. back in Sept. Jachut, I have a question for you. I will be purchasing a threadmill or elliptical machine. I have seen prices from as low as $300 to over $1000. My question is, do you get a better workout with the elliptical?(my first choice)

I tend to forget I'd surgery until I eat and yeah! full on 1/4 of what I used to consume. take it easy, follow your Drs. orders and you will have a full and happy recovery

Lots of restriction and pain, still hunger...
lachica39 replied to nicey in WA's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Nicey, first off, I'm also new at this and I havent needed a fill. But let me tell you, no one should have to suffer sliming or pb or being over the toilet. I see it so much on this forum like its a given. please think about having an unfill, maybe your body is in starvation mode and that could be the reason of slow weight loss. I myself snack throughout the day and my Dr. recommends it to prevent this promblems just my opinion -

Did anyone stuggle with decision of band vs. bypass?
lachica39 replied to janedavis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It cross my mind for years to have by-pass (didnt even do much research on it) that is until I saw a commercial about banding, I called that day to order the information packet. that was in August of 2007. I was so excited, it meant I didnt have to have my stomach cut in half (what happens to the remainging part?)and whatever else is switched around. I immediently started researching all the sites on banding. I read the pros and cons. (food getting stuck, slow weight loss, slipage) but I knew right there and then that this was what I have been waiting all these years for. when I did attend the seminar, the Doc there did not believe in banding, stating it was a waste of time, more bothersome than not, alot of people at that time decided to have bybass, I chose banding with the Docs. partner and am happy with my choice. Personnaly, I would not have surgery without first meeting my surgeon. I was having elective surgery, otherwise if it was an emergency situation I wouldnt care. I did meet him at my pre-op (my request) and felt better about my choice. I'm new to this and learning how to eat again. no fills yet. losing weight at a steady pace. only complaint, I'm gassy and have problems with constipation, knew this would happen with the high protien intake. good luck on your decision, only you can make the right choice -

question about the steri strips....
lachica39 replied to ch4251's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ch4251, leave them on. My Doc. told me I was healing well and could remove the strips after 10 days if they did not fall off on there own. well at the end of 12 days they all fell off on there own except the strip over the port, quess want I removed it and I ended up removing a little bit of scab on one end and the scar is wider at the end. -
Port Incision is not healing, anyone had this problem??

Do you feel the band?
lachica39 replied to ronwifey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can feel the band after eating, or I think its the band. its odd, I know its there. when I eat food takes time to get through and I havent had a fill yet. Does that make sense? -
Graceutah that doesnt sound like very good advice. your basically telling her to vomit. someone with issues good get end up with some sort of eating disorder. just an opinon.

Ladies. I need some help here. I am 1 month out and still get bloated after eating. I am concerned because I'm not eating. I can basically eat anything but not much of it. If I eat more than 1/4 cup I get bloated. I am trying to eat my 60 grams of protien so focus on foods high in protien. side effect of bloating (gas) I burp like trucker. my grandbabies love it, but I'm getting tired of it.

When did you really start losing weight
lachica39 replied to brickgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been very lucky. I am down to 250 (home scale) I am 1 month out with no fill. I eat one full meal (if you can call it that) I basically living on protien drinks, Soup, scrabbled eggs, cheese and deli meats, cream of wheat and oatmeal, tuna salad and Beans of course (homemade) trying to get in the required protien. if I eat more than 1/4 a cup of any given food, I get bloated and have to burp about 20 times to get some relief. My grandkids cant wait till I finish eating so I can let it rip and their yelling "wow, gramma thats a good one" I can live with this feeling for now, but I'm sure it will get old fast. I think I will try eating 6 very small meals per day and see if that helps with the bloating but who's complaining? -

Help! Dry Heaves!! Any advice?
lachica39 replied to wey2bz's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry to hear your having a bad time. the only thing I can advise is to follow your Dr.s plan. stick to the clear liquids. Although I did not go through anything like you decribe, when I did start my protien liquid phrase, I felt bloated and uncomfortable and chose to go back on clear liquids. give it a try.you will do great -
ok ladies, not menoposal but PMS is a b---h. my friend recommended evening primrose and I am a new person. I take one 1000mg capsule a day. been on them for about 6 months. My sister (57) now takes them and she feels 100% better. Dr. approved.

Right on sisters I have gone from a tight 26 to already loose 22, so freaking happy. I have continued to lose weight at a steady pace. (will not change ticker until my weigh in 1/30). I walk everyday 30-45 mins, now thats awsome

along with steady weight loss, I have gone from a tight size 26 lane bryant jeans to size 22 getting loose LB jeans right on!

the question should be what would we do without them?
