Please Help Me Find A Doctor!
Dragonwillow replied to nc_longhorn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went through Dr. Bauman in Concord and have been very pleased with his office. They do have a nutritional program that they require for a year post op....but I think it has helped me and for the most part has been worth it. -
Ace is still cute, but I was rather disappointed in his song tonight. Chris, I thought was good ..and he got my vote tonight. Of the guys....chris, ace and the grey haired guy are my favorites....everyone else though they can sing, is just fluff. Bucky did better tonight...but why oh why does he and pickler have to act like NC has NO varity in food? Geez we aren't the back country. I actually thought the kid that did the kenny rogers did well tonight...though not winning well, just not voting off well. I don't much like shay...and I'm not sure why. I don't like the one crooner that went right after bucky either.

It's been really busy around here...girl scout cookie time...thank goodness is is coming to an end. Dance classes and so on and so on. I haven't even had time to update my website . Right now I'm suppouse to be cleaning....(lol doing a great JOB don't ya know it!) My Dad and brother are coming for dinner and I still don't know what I'm a cooking. Urgh...guess I'd better get started on something.

Congrats on the scale moving again. I get easily discouraged too if I don't see the scale moving, maybe I should have hubby hide ours? LOL Congrats, hope you can make our next meeting.

I eat mostly tilipia....though I like tuna and salmon as well. I just dont' cook them as well. It'll get better I'm sure. I've been cooking up a bit and then packing it int he little 4 oz rubbermaid containers to have it ready to go. I've found with talking to different trainers....they all tell you differently. LOL I really want to get the study course to study for certification myself, but it just isn't possible right now. I've defiently gotten some muscle weight on me. I can see muscles, which is cool, just wish I didn't see the fat hanging from them LOL...working on it. I had a great NSV today...ran into someone at the grocery store and she said "wow, hardly didn't recognize you, you are loosing so much weight!" Of course I actually had makeup on and was dressed in something other than sweats LOL. For training right now, I'm doing 30-70 minutes of cardio a day...and 30-60 minutes of weights. Today was a light day and I only did 30 minutes cardio and NO weights. (they tried to call me into work this morning, and I was afraid to go in to workout in fear they would rope me into working or I'd feel quilty for NOT working.) Pathetic I know. I have a 14 year old I worry about getting the wrong idea about me getting the surgery. I DID do it to loose weight, and I hoped it would PREVENT future medical problems. I was a lucky fat gal, no medical problems based on my weight. My doc was even surprised. I attribute most of that to working out though. I've been working out pretty reguarlly for over 2 years now....even if I haven't lost weight with it...I've gained health benifits and energy. Witht he 14 year old I try to emphasis what I eat that is HEALTHY and that if I hadn't spent SOOO many years eating the wrong things, and had of started exercising earlier, I wouldn't have NEEDED the surgery. Right now she is very self concious of the "extra" weight she carries. I on the other hand would look at her "extra" as perfectly acceptable to ME lol. I have got her trying some of my new vegitarian cuisine. Hubby is worried I'm going to become a vegitarian and he'll never have steak again. At this very moment I think I could give up red meat forever....I'm that scared of trying it.

Resistance bands can do wonders...the thing is you have to use them, and you have to know HOW to use them. Watching the little commercial for it on their page I saw many moves that are done in the body scuplt class at the gym I work at. From reading on the site it looks like you can change the resistance form starting at 5lbs to up to around 120 lbs by using multiple bands on the same pull. Thats pretty good, you can buy more bands as you progress.

I don't have one...but as for annoucing to the whole world. I tell EVERYONE. LOL I keep saying I"m going to stop, but I don't. I feel like a walking lapband advertisment sometimes. Everyone knows but my mother in law that is LOL.

Just picking...there are things with your surgery that I'm defiently not jealous over...so I think it all evens out. It all comes down to as Kim said, we are all fighting the same battle, and we all need each others support to get there. I think i need to start my own thread, I think my fill kicked in with a vengence today...I had trouble eatting fish of all things. Thank goodness I drive a rolling trash can and had a cup handy is all I can say.

Spicey tuna rolls...my favorite. Though the last time we went out to a good resturant was just before my fill. I had fried tofu (not sushi but goes well with it YUM! and a sashimi combo plate. Recently I have had an allergic reaction twice to sushi we got at the grocery...so I've decided not to go that route anymore. Everyone in our house likes the maki rolls, even the 6 year old. I think since banding I prefer the Sashimi.

I don't know...this is a tough one. I know that once I finally came to the decision that lap banding was what I wanted, I wanted it right then. Every time there was a delay I got all upset. I fortuantly had insurance paying. One thing to consider....are you going to want plastic surgery done later? Maybe if you wait the year, you could "save" the 10 k spent for surgery and maybe finance plastic surgery? I know I want to have a tummy tuck later...i will defiently need it. I might even need an arm/thigh and booby lift (if there is any left to lift that is)...though I want the tummy the MOST. All of that is going to cost more than 10k, and I know it will be YEARS before I can have it all done. If I had of had to pay 10k for the lapband and then that I think it would have been almost impossible.

I know a lady that gained to qualify for the rny ...so its not unheard of. I would recomend slouching, and lots of salty foods before weight in....but not truely gaining actual fat. Another option would be to lift weights and gain muscle while NOT doing cardio to try and preserve your weight.

My problem I can only tell myself I don't care how fast it comes off when I see the scale moving. Otherwise I'm stressing and stressing and my family gets it LOL.
-
Nah you are stuck with us...even though we will be jealous when you lose faster than us. I'm glad you are up and feeling better.

Almost any of the dates are fine for me...though march 25th lunch would be hard...breakfast fine. I actually like the idea of breakfast...and Ihop let me order from the kids menu when I was there recently which was GREAT. And I didn't eat it all...yah me. LOL I don't know if I've ever been to bob evans...but either is fine.

typical menu for a bander?

Today I had large sugar free skim latte 1/2 of the insides of a omelet biscuit (so 1/2 of the egg mixture...I'm not sure it was real egg though, was pretty bad) a chocolate chip cookie, a few hard pretzels at work along with a 1/2 slice of sunflower bread with nutella on it. (our kids are studying germany at the moment and today was food day  ) It's so easy to eat crap in a childcare enviroment! 3oz of cheese 2 slices of veggie bacon (not so great..need a different brand) about 4 oz of stir fried tofu. about 1/2 of a 4 oz cup of tilipia fish I didn't figure up the calories or protien on this today...but I think I got close to the right amount of protien considering the tofu had about 10-15 grams of protien and the fish had protien and the cheese and bacon. Oh and I only did 45 minutes of cardio because I went shopping with a friend instead of working out longer . :rolleyes -
Until you get in to get an adjustment, because it sounds like you are too tight. Try drinking some protien shakes and maybe eat some tofu? Tofu I can eat almost anytime, and I'm pretty restricted in the mornings. I dry it out a little between some paper towels cut it in cubes and stir fry it with so low sodium terryaki sauce. My husband the biggest meat eater on the earth loves it. It has become his daily afternoon snack. Hope you can get in for an unfill soon. I've gotten lazy myself lately because I have restriction now for the first time...I'm eating mushies during the day. My goal this next week is to try to make my daytime meals as solid as my evening meal. I'm almost as far out as you are, and I just started loosing again after a month of NO loss. I know how frustrating it is, hang in there, and think of what you have accomplished so far.

If you or your kids have a playstation or xbox try dance dance revolution. it's alot of fun and you don't even feel like you are working out. My daughter plays it more than me and she has lost about 15lbs playing it recently and she hasn't changed her eating habits. I play it mostly on the weekends. I tend to be a social/exerciser and need to go to the gym to get my social time in as well. It helps that I work there. The game has a "workout" mode and it keeps track of calories burned...and in the workout mode you don't even have to be good, you just have to keep moving. As far as exercise videos...I really like Zumba (its a latin dance one) and the ones I used to love when I first started working out was Richard simmons. They were fun, and it was nice to see other people of various sizes doing the exercises and not just the fitness crew like in MOST videos.

I've been crazy busy the last few days and haven't gotten anything done. My fill...hmm it works if I eat ONLY solid food, and until about 4pm...then I can eat anything. Problem, I'm scared of solid food now. LOL So I'm eating yogurt and protien shakes and other mushies in the morning. Kinda kinda defeats the purpose of the fill I guess. I did decide I'm not going back to 800 calories. I think that is just too low for me. I've lost 2lbs and I'm on my period...so hoping that will drop lower when that is over. I can't eat all of a mcdonalds yogurt now at one sitting...so thats restriction?

Congrats! I'm glad to hear you are home, we were all a bit worried, but understand that things were crazy for your family at the moment. Hope to see you at the next meeting...give you a month or two and you will have passed us all in weight loss we will be so jealous! LOL
-
I'm fine with changing it..since I totally missed the conversation where we decided on the 1st anyway LOL. Guess I have to stop running my mouth long enough to realize dates are being set. I'm fine with any date in april I think.

Congrats Kim, I'm sure you will love working there, and you can keep us all honest LOL.

AUGH!!! I need to track SOMETHING!!
Dragonwillow replied to JanetC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was asking the trainers at the gym today if they knew where I could get the breath test done. I think 800 calories is too low, I was actually starting to worry that 1000-1200 might be...because when I was sucessful loosing weight on other programs I had to eat at the top of the recomended range. Oh and I lost a pound after the feast of yesterday...go figure. -
AUGH!!! I need to track SOMETHING!!
Dragonwillow replied to JanetC's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a person of extremes. I will go through periods where I will measure everything, journal all my food, log all my exercise and water. But as soon as the scale stops moving I get fed up and stop it all, or let all the pieces of the puzzle scatter. Like at the nutritionist I was telling her what I've been eating in general, letter her know that I do have my bad days, but for the most part this is it. around 1000-1200 calories a day. I thought I was doing good, since most days I get in about an hour of cardio. But then the scale didn't really move much this month. She told me I should find it hard to get in that many calories...(what? I could eat much more...want me to prove it?) and that I should be eating around 800. Of course on the way home I called hubby all upset...with the dramatic "i'll die!". He laughed, not realizing I was being perfectly serious. So I came home and ate....I ate chicken salad....then waited a bit...had a few crackers with cheese.....and then a few more. I had peanut butter crackers.....And then after I picked up the kids I treated myself to a yogurt and fruit parfiat from Mcdonalds. Could this all of been worse...of course, but the point is that I gave up and gave in. I still don't think I can go down to 800 calories and let my family live, so not sure what I'm going to do there...guess I just keep plugging along with my 2 lbs a month........it'll only take another 3 years to loose the weight at that rate. -
Too bad about the naked man, I was really hoping you would get to see someone hot this time...maybe even famous. Glad to hear you are doing good though.
