Looking for July Sleevers!
LaFuega replied to fearnot's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go to my 2 week post-op on Thursday and can't wait to see my weight loss. I already have people mentioning it. Such a great feeling. One thing I wanted to mention to those that are still pre-op is Exparel... This is a injection that is given in your stomach for the pain and it lasts 72 hrs. My daughter and I both had this after our surgery and the most pain that we had was caused by the gas. -

I had my one week Dr Appt. and I have lost 8 lbs. so far. I am now on the pureed diet for 2 weeks and seem to have gotten over the gas. It is great to not ever be hungry. My only problem is making sure to get 2 of the protein shakes down every day. I used the protein powder in all the soups I have made so I get that additional protein. I am going to start biotin this work as I know that the quick weight loss causes your hair to fall out, so I want to get plenty of protein and add the biotin to help as much as possible. Be sure to measure yourself as you lose a lot of inches sometimes and not much weight. -
Worried because I haven't found a protein shake yet.

My Dr prefers that his patients use the Premier Protein drinks because they are soo high in protein - 30g. I like the chocolate flavor. As with any of these drinks... they just have to be cold! -
I am soo excited that I went through and had the surgery done on July 3rd. I went for my first post-op Dr. appointment yesterday and everything went great. I had lost 3.5 lbs in 6 days! The only issue that I have had is the gas. The first day home from the hospital my upper arms & thighs felt like I had been working out. Not to mention the pain in my left shoulder. This is ALL from gas. I must have went through 2 boxes of Gas X and lots of walking, but I finally got rid of it! I am starting my pureed diet today. I bought several cans of Soup, added 1/2 scoop of Protein powder and then run it through my Nutri-Bullet. I found these little 2 oz containers at the Dollar Tree and they work perfect and are just the right amount. I filled, labeled, and froze them. I am mixing some Cream of Wheat, fruit, and Protein Powder for breakfasts. It only took me couple of hours and I probably have enough for the entire 2 weeks. I am using the Premier chocolate shakes because they have 30g of Protein. My daughter had her surgery done on Feb 27th and has lost 52 lbs so far. This is great encouragement for me and we share ideas too.

I am 5 days post-op and drinking seems to be getting much easier and the only pain is in my left shoulder blade (gas). I have been walking, doing my best to sip and not gulp. My stomach still is swollen, but I'm sure that will take some time to go down. Overall, I am feeling fine and I am very excited about the future. I have my first doctor visit tomorrow too! -
It is really amazing how we relate certain activites with food. ie... popcorn with the movies, hot dogs with baseball, etc.... I know that my body has not been hungry since I was sleved on 7/3, but I have thought about food. Even this morning on coming back to work I wanted coffee out of habit.

I had read that the main reason that we get headaches while doing the liquid diet is caused by detox. After 7 days you should be over that. I only had to do the liquid diet for 2 days before my surgery on 7/3. Luckily, you are not hungry after the surgery. I am amazed at how many things I relate to food. I sit down to watch a movie and think about popcorn, or went to a basball game to watch a grandson and it's hot dog..... I'm not hungry, but I just need to break those habits of associated certain activities with food. -

@@Elayna01 You might look at other options for a Protein shake. I use Premier in chocolate flavor and I only need 2 each day as they are 30g each. -
