  1. I'm getting banded on November 29th in Toronto by Dr. Yau and now reality is sinking it. I'm so excited and nervous. I don't know what to do! Is anyone else getting banded in November?:omg:
  2. I've been reading this forum for a while, and it really pumped me up, everyone seems to be losing so much! But I've been really struggling. I was banded on Nov. 29th, and I've only lost a little over 8 pounds. I just got my first fill this week and they filled it as much as they could, but I still don't feel too much of a restriction. Is this normal? Does weight loss usually speed up once you get your fill? I just wish the scale was going down faster! Has anyone else had a similar experience? It's not like I haven't been exercising either. Hmmm...
  3. I did have a pre-op diet, but it wasn't very restricted. I'm not sure what my weight was before that though, I only know it from right after the surgery to now.
  4. Hello, I've been continuing my quest looking for a doctor on the east coast. Has anyone ever been to Dr. Geiss and if so, how was it? Any comments are very much appreciated! Thanks!

Got 5 cc's today at TLBC

Hey,this is a little off topic but... I noticed a lot of you (if not all!) went to Dr. Yau for your lap band. I'm actually considering him right now, and was wondering what you thought of the whole experience! I'm from the US, so I would be probably flying/driving there. Which leads me to my next question...it sounded like a lot of you aren't fans of driving to Toronto, is there bad traffic or something? I've never been so I wouldn't know! Thanks!
  6. Hello, I'm new to this community, and I was hoping someone could help me out. I've been researching this surgery for a while, and have been having a hard time on the internet finding what I need. I'm at a lower BMI than what's required for most surgeries (I have a BMI of 36, I'm 5'6" at 225 pounds). Does anyone know of doctors around New England (willing to go to New York as well) that would be willing to perform the surgery? If it matters at all I plan to do this self-pay. And also, having the surgery sooner than later would be a plus, since I've recently obtained severe acid reflux. And opinions/suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks so much! :help:
  7. Hey Nan, I've been searching, and having a hard time finding places still. I did look at europe, but I was having a hard time finding someone that would do it if you were from out of the country. I'm looking at Dr. Yau in Canada, and it seems like I will qualify! Fingers crossed! I'll update once I know for sure.
  8. What was your BMI? I feel like that I did look into him, but for some reason it would not have worked out. I'm actually looking at Dr. Yau in Toronto, Canada, which seems like it's going to be a possibility.
  9. I live on the east coast, and I'm trying to self-pay to get lap-band surgery. Going out of the country is an option, but I'm really nervous about it! What have other low BMI people experienced, where did you go to get it done, and if it was out of state, was it easy to find a place to get your fills done. Thanks, and nice to meet everyone!
  10. Again, because of the lower BMI they wouldn't take me. And I'm originally from Maine, but go to school in Boston, so anywhere along New England would be ideal.
  11. Sue, I looked at their site and even called, but they're not willing to take someone self-pay, not sure why really. Thanks though.
  12. Unfortunately (and fortunately) I don't have any other issues except severe acid reflux, which just started since I gained more weight recently, but they don't care about that...hmph.
