I've read that it's called Bandster Hell. I had my first fill on the 12th, and it's been a lot easier. I'm at a point where I don't really get hungry. I still WANT to eat, but that's my head talking. My typical day is a shake in the morning (Atkins or SlimFast Protein) and a yogurt/small snack mid morning, Soup, sandwich or potato at lunch (depending on where I am and what I'm doing), small snack mid-day and then nibbles of whatever the family is having for dinner. At the end of the day, I feel stuffed. But when I look back on what I ate, it's really hardly much of anything. I can't finish 1/2 of what I start. Before the fill - I could, and did some days, eat anything I wanted. It does get better!

I'm going to have to force myself to eat.
Gone4Now replied to anonemouse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This doesn't really answer the question, but this link was interesting: Just the FAQs: How Many Calories Should I Consume? Although, I did google your question, and the answer seems to be yes, not eating enough calories can slow weight loss. But I think it's more severe than just cutting back. According the nutrition guides given to me, in order for me to get my Protein and required Vitamins, I'd have to have enough calories not to be starving. The lowest I've had in a day is 800 calories (on bad days), and the most was 2000 (on really bad days!). Given my past eating habits, I'd have downed that many calories by Breakfast. But, it does seem tricky to try to find the balance, especially when you can't get anything down... -
Whsyadaddy - I want your job! You can curl, you can play w/radio controlled toys!!! I'm sooo jealous!

Hi there! I think she was semi-serious. I am hoping that as I lose weight she'll cut back. Although, as she sees me taking it easy, and not scarfing down my food like before, she's said things like, "I'll never get the lap-band! I could never do that to myself." Ugg. I love her so much, but I can't take much of that. What's worse? Being 300 lbs, or not eating what you want? I don't say that, but just shrug and tell her how much I'm loving it. I'm still crossing my fingers that as I keep losing, she'll become a part of it with me. I think I just have to be patient. We've been friends for a long time, so I think I can roll with the punches for a while. It's just tough when you need support from friends and can't get it. I want to shout and jump and scream out how happy I am, and I can't...I need to tame it down. That's the hard part!

I love Old Town Spring. I've only been there once, though, almost a year ago. Name the time and place, and I'll be there if my daughter's soccer game allows.

Which embarrasses you more?
Gone4Now replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm in the beginning, and have about 100 more pounds to lose. But, I've lost almost 30, and clothes I haven't been able to wear are fitting and I *think* I'm looking better. And no one has said anything, except my mother! And, everyone knows comments from your mom don't count! So, I'm not sure. On one hand, I want someone to say SOMETHING. But, then, if a big deal were made of it I think I'd feel ashamed that I still have so much more to go. So, in another words, my friends and loved ones can't win since I'm just a flakey B*****. -
I would say ask the doctor. I did go swimming around 3 days after surgery, but I called the doctor first. They asked about the condition of my incisions, and a few other questions. I think it depends on how you're doing. But, I love swimming and couldn't watch everyone else and not get in!
-
Hi, Hadee! I love your name! What part of Spring? I'm close to 45/1960.

I had the same problems! I keep some sugar-free candies next to me (tip from another bandster). But, really, when I see someone walking past w/a Reeses, I practically drool. I hate Halloween! My inner child has definitely left the building.

as far as I know, you just click chat at the top of the page. I think you can make new rooms, but I'm not sure how to do that...
-
I would love to meet and have some band talk! I try to discuss it w/my friends and family and they just look at me.

My 10-year old daughter does the same sort of stuff. A few times now, she's brought her leftovers in from the car (an accomplishment in itself) and then left it on the counter - right beside the refrigerator! C'mon! The BF does the same stuff. 1/2 full cups on the dresser, in the bathroom, clothes on the floor beside the hamper. Is effort just not in their vocabulary?

OMG!!! Totally Gross!!
Gone4Now replied to mescla808's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL I'm laughing my butt off, cause that is so true! I've had this happen a couple times, while at the table waiting for it to go down or come up. Sometimes it clears because it was just too big of a bite. My family looks at me with so much concern! And they ask questions - "Are you okay? Can I do anything? What's wrong? Was it the chicken, the peppers...etc" I know they're trying to help, but I CAN'T TALK RIGHT NOW! -
I thought I'd posted to this...but I guess it got lost. Sorry if you receive this twice. I was banded by Dr. Jason Balette, from the Surgical Group of the Woodlands. He's great! I really do love him and his office staff. Good people! I live in Spring, near 45 and 1960 and I work in the Jersey Village area (near 8 and 290). How are you doing since surgery? Have you been filled yet? I had my first on Friday, and boy! I feel it! Where is Dobbin? I moved from VA in June 2006, and am still unfamiliar with the areas around Houston.

My first official R&R...Bandsters who dont know a damn thing about banding
Gone4Now replied to wrk-n-prgrss's topic in Rants & Raves
I have to put in my $.02 because, 1) I'm a moderately educated newbie, and 2) I was "educated" by looking into the internet, and by speaking to people who have had different types of WLS. 1) I thought I was fairly understanding of problems and issues until I went through it. My doctor has been great and answers questions that I ask openly and willingly. However, I'm sure his only reference for what's "normal" is what his patients are telling him. Which, could mean they're telling him they PB every meal, etc. 2) Researching anything on the internet is tricky. You never know what to believe. I've been to the nutritionist and will go again until my head catches up to my band. But, everyone seems to be different. Latching on to the 1 out of 100 that replies that they are like you, should be a BIG RED FLAG that something is wrong. So, I completely agree with the 2nd motive in those posts. At the same time, I can see where it's comforting to find someone who's having those same issues. I don't think that should ever replace doctor's advice/instructions, but sometimes a person may just want sympathy, support, and solidarity right then and there. Also, it may take someone months before they realize they really are responsible. I know I heard and read everywhere that this is not a miracle, it's a tool. But, I really didn't believe it until I was in it. I still thought it was going to be easy. But, the challenges of weight loss are still there, only now I can't give in or I'll be sick. I don't like being sick, so I'm being very careful of what I eat (mostly...I have caved here and there and learned a hard lesson!) Unfortunately, the ones being discussed here are probably not reporting their mis-band-behavior to their doctors, so the reports going out about the band are skewed. I think as long as the successful ones are out there promoting it and maybe talking to their doctor about the things learned on these sites (good and bad), then maybe not too much harm will be done. And, more posts like this helps nix the ignorance. I know I've learned so much by reading the success stories here. Okay, so that's more like my $2.00 - Inflation's a bitch, ain't it? -
This topic is so interesting to me! I've been out and about and accidentally sipped through a straw since being banded. My daughter and BF will grab it out of my drink and say, "no!" I get miffed because so far, nothing has happened - I didn't even notice I was using a straw! And, I have a weird hang up about drinking from the glass...forks, spoons, etc - Fine. A glass??? Ick. So, I think I'll start slowly on the straw thing. I've been missing it.

Venting about changes in my lapband program
Gone4Now replied to Wheetsin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am so sorry. This makes me nervous about my future with my doctor. So far he's been so wonderful - I love him and rave about him and his office staff. He did my first fill, and he knew exactly where to go. I'd be nervous about someone else doing a fill...I do NOT want to be poked and prodded. Again, I'm sorry. I hope you find someone else that's better (for your health and sanity!) -
I'm going to have to force myself to eat.
Gone4Now replied to anonemouse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I get hungry, but when I try to eat I can only take a couple of bites. I get that "buffet feeling" from 1/4 cup of soup! Today I ate more - the whole bowl of Soup - and some chicken for dinner. I thought I was TERRIBLE today until I put my food journal into fitday.com. I was under 1000 calories!!! I've never (pre-banding) eaten less than that. I felt stuffed so I thought I was bad. I love it, I love it, I love it!!! I'm GIDDY! -
Do you think it's rude to correct another's grammar?
Gone4Now replied to marnie723's topic in Rants & Raves
Yes! I agree that it's rude. Especially if you're normally a very well spoken/written individual, and you just make a mistake because you're rushing. A few of my friends are always rushing and when they send emails there is ALWAYS a mistake. I can bet on it. But, I'd never say anything to them. 1) They are adults and not children, and 2) I know them to be very intelligent people. I have edited some of their emails before when they've asked me to, but NEVER if they don't ask for advice. That said, I do correct my daughter and her friends. She's 10 years old and needs the correction because she doesn't KNOW. -

it appears i've lost my motivation ...
Gone4Now replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think your quote says a lot: Exercise for the body you want, not for the body you have. If you're happy where you are, then can you maintain it with your current actions? If not, can you focus on changing one thing at a time? It sounds like you're being very hard on yourself for a bunch of different things. (Which we're all guilty of doing!) :Banane35: Try to relax and pick one thing to work on. Nix sweets for 2 weeks, work out the way you want every day for 2 weeks, etc. Just one thing. If you're spread thin, (no pun intended) then you won't have the energy to fix everything that you see is wrong. After you've gotten good at one thing, move on to the next "problem". You'll gain confidence in yourself and the motivation will come with each accomplishment. Baby steps... -
What is your favorite cliche expression that you wish you didn't use?
Gone4Now replied to Chelle B's topic in Rants & Raves
:Banane35: LOL I'm either a dork, or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. -
Woo Hoo!!! :Banane35: Way to go! As of right now I've lost 28 pounds in 63 days. Better than any diet I've ever been on! I love the band!
