    Givin' up the ice cream

:tongue2: Better today because it's Friday. I'm silly today, but feel like snacking. I am trying to not eat so much right now because the boss is taking the group out to lunch at Pappasitos (Yummy Mexican). Not sure what I'll order, though, since I'm at a good spot w/my fill....Tortilla Soup? I did the lowcarb ice cream when I was on atkins...I think the fat content is higher/or as high as real icecream, though. Just low sugar. Is it the same? I'd like to do the low-carb thing. It really works for my body type. I used to make mousse w/whipping cream and splenda and cocoa mix. I'd freeze it and eat that as ice cream. Mmmm....but it was very high fat. But yummy. I am addicted to bread, too! One of my fav Snacks used to be soft white bread w/butter and maple syrup. LOL - I love that! Make the brain see the accountability! We wrote it! We said it! The brain can't trick us now!

    Science 101

Doh...mine's in my head - guess my pants won't fit smaller afterall. Okay...I'm definitely silly today. Back to OP - It is annoying to hear that a pound of something doesn't equal a pound of something else. Sometimes I wonder if people can hear themselves speak? Or if they can, are they playing some sick practical joke on the people listening and nodding? "Oohh....did you hear what he said? A pound of fat is lighter than a pound of muscle. Wow. FASCINATING." Really? Who buys that crap? I've explainded that theory to my daughter, and I try to say a spoonful of fat vs. a spoonful of muscle. That way it is still a visual, but doesn't defy science 101. :tongue2:

Obesity Help Lawsuit filed by Gary Viscio

plain - is that a class-action suit? I'd like to throw my name in the hat, if so. My story, by Gloucester: Recently my DD and I planned a nice trip to the beach. We thought it would be a lovely summer day. Little did we know that the Water was CONTAMINATED. The salt in the water stung my eyes, and caused my precious daughter's eyes to tear for several minutes. Where is the humanity in that? There was NO warning at the beach that the water would be salty, and I think that whomever is responsible should PAY. I was looking out for sharks. I had my dog on the leash. I had no open containers, and I did not litter. I read the riptide warnings. Nowhere was it mentioned that the water had SALT. Who knew?

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I run the gammut (sp?) on panties. I have my old "granny" underwear, that I wear when I'm doing yard work, or now running on the treadmill. They come up over my sweats...makes me feel smaller! Then I have the lacy kind that DH loves. :tongue2: I went through a thong phase, but they're too big now, too, so I'm wearing them less and less. Now I'm really liking the no panty-line kind. They're not too sexy, though! Tried the boy-shorts, but they ride up and get bulky. Leslie, do you wear them under clothes, or just to bed?

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Hey there...just checking in. How's everyone doing???

    Givin' up the ice cream

I'm not a VV, but can I join, too? I have the ice cream....I've gotten the light kind, so at least I'm eating 1/2 the fat! But, I still want to cut down to nothing. As soon as I'll get strong, DH will buy some. Grrr. So, I need to boycott ice cream in a big way.

    Science 101

What if I lose a pound of fat, but gain a ton of gold coins? Then, can I say whatever the hell I want to say...because, well - I have a ton of gold. Kinda like Oprah.

    Why Does It Not Work

Congrats on getting banded! For me it's been life changing and I love my band. #10 - Make sure your doctor is a good surgeon AND has a good bedside manner. Ask yourself if you're comfy calling him/his nurse once a month or more. I am on a first name basis w/my nurse because I need a lot of hand holding. Will you be embarassed if you gain and need a fill? A lot of people gain because they need a fill but don't want to go to the doctor. GO. Be friends...be pals. The relationship w/the doctor doesn't stop right after surgery. A lot of people get banded far away and don't get that chance to be friendly w/the surgical staff. If that's the case, then find a good fill center close to you, or make plans to get to one often enough to keep up with fills (if you need them.) #9 - Read everything the doctor gives you. Listen to what he says, and ask any questions you may have, even if they sound dumb to you. If you've followed number 10, it won't matter. :crying: #8 - Don’t eat pizza after surgery. Realize that the steps you take right after surgery are to help you heal from surgery. Even though you will be hungry and you will be able to eat a lot. Drink the fluids, and follow your doc’s/nutritionist’s pre-op instructions to the letter. #7 – Don’t be too loose that you can eat a lot. #6 – Don’t be too tight that you’re sliming up your own spit. #5 - If you’re throwing up, you’re eating too much. #4 - Eat your protein first, and stop when you’re full, even if you haven’t finished that 4th ounce. #3 – Once you get “comfy” with the band, DON’T EAT SLIDER FOODS. That’s been my mistake and I’ve been bouncing for 3 months. (Slider foods are the soft things like ice cream and cookies. They will go down easy. You still have to eat healthy.) #2 – Eat less (with the help of the band) and exercise more. #1 –Make sure you are mentally prepared to eat like a normal person. Food is not for comfort – it is for sustenance. J It really is that simple, but it’s taken me forever to get to #1…and I keep shying away from it, then coming back to it! It will happen, and you’ll get there. Good luck! J Oh, and the mostest #1 rule is stick with lapbandtalk.com – It’s been a saving grace for me, since I’m the only one in my circle who’s been banded.

    Questions on exercise:

I do tend to lace tightly. I'm running tonight, so I'll try loosening up a bit. Also, I think I need to land right. I read in the other thread that you're having toe nail issues...is that right? I tend to run like I'm on an elliptical glider, partly because I'm scared of my treadmill. :crying:

    September exercise challenge?

I'd be up for a challenge. I'm doing the c25k August version. It's my first real exercise that I've done. I realize I need to move my butt to be healthy, and I'm finding I really enjoy it. Lacking motivation, though, has always been my obstacle. So, having the accountability here on LBT has helped a lot.

    Good Lentil recipes?

Thanks for that! I bought lentils, thinking I'd do something with them, but never did. This is an easy recipe that I can follow.

    Toilet Paper and Restrooms

I like Charmin...the blue package, though I'm not sure what the difference is between the blue one and red. I just noticed at home that DH bought the last package and it's the 1/2 way cheap 1/2 way soft kind. It's doable, but nothing like my Charmin. And I got 12 more rolls to go through before I can get the good stuff.

This thread is going to be sooo inappropriate!

    That reminds me of this. (I'm Fluffy FrickenButt) ****** Here is a little dose of humor... Follow the instructions to find your new name. The following is excerpted from a children's book, Captain Underpants And the Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey, in which the evil Professor forces everyone to assume new names... So:- 1. Use the third letter of your first name to determine your New first name: a = snickle b = doombah c = goober d = cheesey e = crusty f = greasy g = dumbo h = farcus i = dorky j = doofus k = funky l = boobie m = sleezy n = sloopy o = fluffy p = stinky q = slimy r = dorfus s = snooty t = tootsie u = dipsy v = sneezy w = liver x = skippy y = dinky z = zippy 2. Use the second letter of your last name to determine the first half of your new last name: a = dippin b = feather c = batty d = burger e = chicken f = barffy g = lizard h = waffle i = farkle j = monkey k = flippin l = fricken m = bubble n = rhino o = potty p = hamster q = buckle r = gizzard s = lickin t = snickle u = chuckle v = pickle w = hubble x = dingle y = gorilla z = girdle 3. Use the third letter of your last name to determine the second half of your new last name: a = butt b = boob c = face d = nose e = hump f = breath g = pants h = shorts i = lips j = honker k = head l = tush m = chunks n = dunkin o = brains p = biscuits q = toes r = doodle s = fanny t = sniffer u = sprinkles v = frack w = squirt x = humperdinck y = hiney z = juice

    Questions on exercise:

Running socks??? Oi! I'm outta my league here. Actually, I have good shoes, but didn't know it. I had bought them on sale, during tax-free weekend because they're cute and it's a good deal. Well, when I was looking more closely at them, turns out they're specially designed for running, with cushy parts and everything. But, socks...okay. Is there a different way to gait? Or is it just what it is and you overcome? Is it a serious thing if not taken care of? Sorry, I know I'm being kinda wussy about this, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to hurt myself later on.

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

I decided to move on to week #2. It was easy the first 10 minutes (easy being, I didn't feel like dying) but then afterwards I had to push myself. But, I pushed and I felt great! I really love this accountability.

Hey...Do you work where I work? I've actually brought in my own, or carried baby-wipes. I think I got a papercut once from it. Ouch.

    Ahem...very personal :)

Glamour mag just had an article on how to find it. Or, how to have your SO find it. Have him/her put their fingers inside, and then to a "come hither" motion with their fingers. Supposedly, it's between the opening and the cervix. For me, it felt like I had to pee, until I helped the feeling along...then it was great!
