  1. I had a c-section, and seeing my big ole roll of fat stretched out and hung up on the cover between my head and my nether regions pretty much wiped all modesty. Not to mention leading up to the procedure where you lay down and spread 'em - my modesty is just kinda shot to hell. I used to be nervous, but if the doctor is professional you really don't feel the nervousness at the time of surgery. I know I was knocked out cold and I was dressed, and then I brought to and I was dressed. Whatever cocktail they gave me - I didn't care. I was in lah-lah land and I was getting banded. Being naked is only secondary to the euphoria of getting my band. You'll be fine. Take a deep breath and just think: You are not the first naked fat person this doctor has seen. If you are - get another doctor.

    Givin' up the ice cream

I always wonder if cancer was always around but undetected, or if it has been recent with all the "waves" of technology. I dunno. I hate it. 80% of the deaths in my family since I was a kid was due to cancer. I remember my dad had lung cancer (brought on by his smoking - RSG, way to go w/no ciggies!) But, it just spread so quickly. My aunt right now is fighting it and has been for 10 years. She's so strong. Ugg! Cancer sucks. (Do they have a bumper sticker that says that?) On a positive note...no ice cream. Though, I did joke that we needed to buy some so that we *had* to eat it when the electricity goes out. Even DH didn't buy that one.

That does help! I'm not too worried. I have some good books to settle down with and it will be like a mini-vacation. *knocks on wood*

Well, it's Thursday, and I'm at work - for the moment. We may be shutting down and leaving early. I haven't been through a hurricane before, and DH is taking it in stride. Ike looks to be headed our way, and DH says we'll ride it out. I dunno...we at least have a gas grill, and tons of flashlights/batteries. I'm more worried about our dogs. If the yard/neighborhood floods, they won't have anywhere to go the bathroom. How does that work?

    Pin up Shoto Shoot??

I came home and voted again. Next, I'll have DH vote from his work laptop, just as soon as he gets it up. Oh, my...that sounded so different from how I meant it.

    September exercise challenge?

I DID IT! Okay, tonight, I came home and went swimming at my mother's. I did laps until I was sweaty, and then we played around. It's weird sweating in the Water. Then, on the way home, I was thinking, "Ahhh...I'm tired...I don't want to run tonight...I'll run tomorrow..." But, then I came home and just changed into my workout clothes - without even thinking about it. And DH asked, "are you getting on the treadmill?" I said, "YEP! I guess I am." And, I beat my record. My fastest run time (don't laugh) before was 17.42 minutes for one mile. Tonight it was 16.39. I am on cloud nine!!! I can't believe it!!!! I beat my record, after not even wanting to do it!!!

    September exercise challenge?

Good to know...I guess. Actually, I have noticed that I've been sweating more since starting exercising. I guess there's something to that. Tonight: week #2 of c25k...I'm also going to try to push a little harder to do something else. I feel like collapsing after the running, but it feels so good! Maybe weights. I have 5lb weights that I bought, but don't use. I'll tell myself I will and report back in tomorrow.

    September exercise challenge?

Yeah...I take all the newbies on the tour here and everytime I go into the gym (open 24 hours) it's full of hard-core people. I ride the van pool, so I can go before/after work, and I hate not taking advantage of it. It's just not practical for me. Oh, well...I have a neighborhood and a treadmill - so no excuses!

    September exercise challenge?

Tuesday night: 5 minute warm up walk 20 minutes of week #2 again (I wussed out at the 3 minutes of running in week #3, so I am re-doing week #2.) 5 minute warm down (?) Then, 10 minutes of stretches. I get really hot and red-faced when I exercise, so it takes a long time to warm down. We have gym at work, but I can't use it because I'd be all icky at my desk for hours. A mini-goal is be able to exercise and not get all red and sweaty. Does that come with losing weight?
  15. Wow. I guess that whole saying, "Cushion for the pushing" made sense. I can't wait until I have: protuding bones, scabs, the chills, and bruises. Sounds awesome. (Actually...there is no sarcasm there. It's the little things that we can delight in when we're at/get to goal.) "Look Ma! Bones!"
  16. Awesome! Thank you! I wasn't going to click on the link to view the next entry, until I saw it was from Alex. I figured it would be insightful.

Good for you! The strength is there - we all see it! If you need to, take some time and read through your old posts. Maybe that would help you see how far you've come, and that the strength to do it came all from you.

  20. Same here...thought it was a glitch, but it kept up. I don't think I like that feature, if it's permanent.

    Givin' up the ice cream

Ezma - I'm so sorry! It seems that our LBT family is hitting some hard times lately. I am thinking of you, and hope you pull through! Tap - I've done really well! I sit there at night and I'm Jones'n for some ice cream, but since it's all gone and DH has been good about not getting more, I can't eat anything. RSG - Bad gym! It's not Bally's is it? I had the same thing happen to me, sorta, where they hit me with a "haveto pay this much" before I could join again. I didn't, and the one I went to ended up closing down. Justice. No smoking! My boss brought in Cookies that her aunt had made. They were rhubarb cookies. I wanted to try them, but ended up spitting it out. The woman is a chain smoker and the cookies tasted like a cigarette. I used to smoke, but that was NASTY. So, it really turned me off from smoking. And, boss and her aunt never noticed because they're used to it. St.Louis - Welcome! Ben and Jerry's is to blame for, probably my left thigh fat...possibly a right thigh...and 1/2 a buttock... :cool2: Sorry for the visual, but I'm weird. I like to look at what I'm eating and think, how much of this have I eaten in my lifetime? Where did it go?
