I am giggly at it, too. It's my longest thread ever. I'm printing it and hanging it on the wall, with gold threaded matting surrounded by a dark-brushed bronze frame. It's very pretty.

Actually, if the ghetto weren't, in reality, a scary place then people wouldn't be offended by it. Eye of the beholder kinda thing. To us, most of us, to say we are American is a source of pride. Go to Europe, say you're American and it's the same as saying in Bev. Hills that you're from the "ghetto". People look at it differently from different perspectives. We are American...yet America is a place. But I am American. A Virginian/Texan. A Northern Virginian/Houstonian. I can localize it further and further, but the point is where we are from does define us, for better or worse. We can rise above (the ghetto) or fall from (the River Oaks) - and how we act will show others who we are and where we are from - or who we are acting like. You can "act" like you're from somewhere and it doesn't have to define you as a person. You can "behave" like you're ghetto-born, upper class-born - whatever. But, others will see you as they want to, and peg you into a certain group. Fat, black, white...we can't change human nature by changing words. Words are just words and they mean nothing. 100 years from now new words will be in the dictionary, and others will be gone. Personally words don't offend me as much as the emotion behind it. If someone is laughing and says I'm being ghetto, then I laugh too - life is too short. And, the emotion is irrevelant on a message board.

Oh, my! I'm not sure I can handle that. I'm lucky I work in a "man's world" since I've been told I'm a 14 year old boy in disguise.

Sorry for your loss! What a horrible thing. I've always said if DD were to go before me, I'd be a shell of nothingness. She's my life. Read the ghetto thread and thought it was funny... I laugh, though, at inappropriate things! I'm the giggler at church. Which is why I don't go to church.

I'm giggling. I'm snow white and I was raised in the ghetto. I've called my friends ghetto, they've called me ghetto - in fun. What's wrong that people get so worked up? It's a word and it can only effect you if you want it to. Breath in, count to 10 and let the small stuff go. Unless they come after someone with burning crosses, I think we can click "ignore" and go on. There was a thread on here about a year ago over the word "retard". Someone called someone else's actions "retarded" and a member got very offended because she has a family member who is mentally retarded. Personally, I love the term "tard" and use it often in my relationships. I also cuss like a sailor and the F word brings a smile to my face on my darkest days... That said, I do understand that there is a time and place for both vulgarity and possibly offensive terms. Which explains why I don't speak much in public. God forbid I offend some tard from the ghetto and get my ass kicked.

:smile2: Been hanging in there, going to the gym most days after work. This week, I'm repeating week 3 of the c25k. Got through it last week and don't feel ready to move on. The last 3 minute run kicks my butt. I know, I know...I'm like the jackass in the Budweiser commercials. You all = clydesdales. Me = the jackass. LOL

I agree. I know it's easier to say than to do. This weekend, my best friend found a note about promises to ourselves buried in her wallet. On it was a note that I had written about former BF saying that if he hadn't asked me to marry him by Oct. 2003, to dump him. Don't know what caused that, but I was almost 3 years late. I left him in March 2006, moved to TX June 2006 and my life has NEVER been better. Just saying, sometimes the grass IS greener on the other side.

The dog ran over to our dipsh!t neighbors' house. The kind that party all night sleep all day, don't pick up their trash, don't mow, don't fix the window that someone broke and instead put plastic over it...THAT kind of neighbor. I have fed that same stray several times in the past, which is why this time I was going to take her in. I called about her around a year ago, and didn't see her since. I thought they either took care of her, or the animal control picked her up. But, nope. There she was again. She was very sweet to me, DD and DH... My lab is scared of everything, so she just kept her distance, the chihuahua just yapped and yapped and ran around like a crazy child, but the boxer - she's friendly and curious, so I think that got her in trouble. I think that the lab is a sweetie by nature, but being "on the streets" probably has toughened her up a bit. I HATE people who don't take care of their dogs (or animals). DH literally had to stop me from going over to the neighbors yesterday, because I don't think. But, they're the kind of thugs that I may not have walked away from! :thumbup: But, I was going to take my chances, the f'ers. Actually, cats, too. I almost ran over a cat the other day because it ran across the street - because it's owners and their 3 year old daughter were calling it. I told DH, "how f'ed up would that have been if I'd squashed fluffy right in front of the kid?" Ick...people! Take care of your f'ing pets!!!!! /rant...sorry!

Sorry, Beth!!!!! (((hugs))) I had a doggie fight this weekend. There was a stray lab (and labs are my weakness) and I brought her into the back yard. She was all happy go lucky one second, then attacked my boxer the next. DD got the other dogs in, I kicked the other dog out and had to take care of the baby. Here's her scar - My poor baby! I should have listened to DH, who is constantly calling me CDL - Crazy Dog Lady.

I do find it very funny that the MJ lovers are more interested in coming in here to take us down a notch, blast shame all over us, lecture to kingdom come - rather than lavish the love over in other thread. (Or is my "new posts" feature not working well? I don't see it at the top...) Why the hell does it bother YOU that I don't like MJ? Why do YOU care what I say about him? How do YOU feel about Lil Kim? Snoop Dogg? Jon&Kate Plus 8, Paris Hilton...etc? Do you really have respect for all the people in media, and NEVER say anything bad about them? If that's the case, then why are you bashing US? The MJ haters? In your world, it's really okay to attack folks on a message board, but not complain about celebs? REALLY?

I had some drama at work, nothing like KC, though... I'm a first responder at work and across where I sit, they are building out 2 offices (on top of layoffs, isn't that sweet?) A guy was here cutting drywall and cut his finger! It was kinda boring, because all I did was direct him to the bathroom where a male responder took over. I got to clean up blood, though, and fill out reports. The guy was a contractor and very embarassed over it. He said, I have a napkin, I'll get it...and I'm like, yeah, no. We have a HUGE safety agenda and this is recordable.

I have been wogging off and on using the c25k model and I'm wondering if I have the right shoes? I have a high arch and under-pronate. According to the websites I've been looking at, under-pronating shoe support is for lower (regular) arches, and don't offer that much weight support. Will a motion prevention shoe that offers weight support do something funky to the arches?

Wicka-wicka-whhaaa... AGREED! Before we moved, and her weight was creeping up I kept asking the doctor - 90 pounds wet, seriously...and she just kept saying, "she needs to lose weight". Well, damn..I was 300 pounds - HOW do you just "lose weight?" Oh, just lose weight....OKAY. I'll get right on that. I asked for a nutrionist and they said that she didn't need one and just recommended a certain diet. That doesn't help HER understand what she needs to do. Argh..still mad. Seeing Texas Children's Nutrionist on Monday and another doctor about possible PCOS on Tuesday. I hate docs - well, the bad ones! Ya'll wake up WAAAY too early. DITTO. It's going to be a long Friday! My co-workers boss grabbed one stack and went through it like butter, and now I'm doing the stuff from her inbox. Are you KIDDING ME??? On the flip side, I am VERY excited about a project I've been assigned - making the Export Procedures Manual. I LOVE MANUALS.
