WLS Worries: Sagging Skin
par1959 replied to gabrielle2014's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Face it, this is a huge change. You will experience problems until you come to grips with not being able to eat like you use to. I feel live support groups are the best way to help deal with theses issues. I have found at 10 weeks post Op that I have gotten past the worst of the mental issues and am enjoying the complements I get on a daily basis. My ego is out of control. Lose skin is going to happen , but thats a bridge I will cross once I lose the weight. At this point in your journey, get through your surgery and drink lots and lots of water. In a couple of months you'll be wondering why you didnt do this sooner. -
Thumbs up, I am going on weeks 10 and down 80. cant wait to hit the C note on the scale. It will be time to dance. A one and a two....................

Try some fruit juice. Could be low blood sugar. If it is the juice will make you start feeling better fast.

Your body is going through lots of change and all of us are different. I experienced gout. I recommend drinking lots of Water and it will pass. Just wait until your about 10 weeks out. For me thats when the fun really starts and you begin to feel like superman.

Is sleeve good for SERIOUS sugar addicts?
par1959 replied to melissa160's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow the eating rules and in a couple of months you will awaken to feel life super man. Dumping the numbing effects of food and alcohol is fricking amazing. You will want to live life to the fullest. That is what is happening to me. -
The menopause thing has ruined the physical relationship with my wife years ago. Although she has supported me through the surgery the spark is no longer there. This surgery has made me feel like 20 years old. I don’t plan on letting this new found youth go to waste. Life is too short.

Vegans can eat sugar BUT refined white sugar is NOT vegan because it is processed and filtered through animal bone char. The best thing to get to substitute regular white sugar is raw sugar, organic sugar, agave nectar, natural sugar cane, evaporated cane juice, stevia, etc.

Is it me, or is it them?
par1959 replied to SandeeD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s funny how much people notice the weight loss and want to encourage us. Many people are not comfortable with the added attention , I have learned to enjoy it. Remember you are still the same wonderful person you have always been.I find it funny you used the word Mojo. The word Libedo better describes me. Damn, I feel like a 20 year old at 54. Its beginning to create problems on the home front. Now I know why there is a high divorce rate assosiated with this surgery. -
Weight Plataue
par1959 replied to bitter-sweetchameleon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 weeks out. I slowed down like you did and have now started losing at an incredible pace. Will blow right past last months record of 22 lbs. With a week to go to end the month I am 25 lbs down. 7.5 lbs in the last week. Wow. I dont know whether this is good or not. -
Who flip your switch? I think most of us could care less what anyone does or doesn't do. Like all addictions only the addict can choose to change. The majority of posts are only suggestions, that are shared to help others. As for weight loss itself it's all up to the individual and the majority on this site are highly motivated and have great input to help others..

Bariatricpal scared me shitless
par1959 replied to elpasovet's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
BP is a support group, NOT a scientific study on bariatric surgery. Most people that have this surgery do not have complications, but the ones that do are very vocal. Go do your homework using peer reviewed studies. Google Scholar is a good place to start. Your odds of dying are about the same as getting a tooth pulled. There are however risk that come with any surgery. That is why you do a thorough check on the surgeon. If you in the Seattle area I can put you in touch with an excellent group of Docs with a great record. They have had only one minor leak in many years and they do about 500 sleeves a year. Great odds in my book. -
Right out of surgery...what vitamins?
par1959 replied to Fox-E's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Dont worry about it until your Doc tells you too. Early on it time to heal and get your water in. The rest will come out a month out. -
May 28th surgery down 73 lbs as of this morning. Main complaint would be energy. Water seems to help. For some reason I am starting to eat less. Finally got over the gout from week two. What a strange trip this has been

MAke sure your honest with yourself when tracking. I actually will over estimate im not sure. I have found that a ratio of 33% across the board works very well. Make sure those carbs are of the complex variety. For example, I eat a 1/4 cantalope and a hand full of cherries or grapes everyday. With the changing seaeon of fruit I will have to switch it up soon. One has to watch it with fruit but it makes a good snack and there are many great choices. I have also found that a couple small servings a day keep with blood sugar in check. BEing hypoglycemic (Spelling) is no fun.

For my entire life the sun has made me sneeze twice when it hits my nose. After the sleeve it more like four times in a row. How does your stomach or lack of affect sneezing?

How do you handle the attention?
par1959 replied to ready2B's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I thought I would hate it, but I really like the complements. My most common responce is a simple "thank you" -
Here is how you do it. Subtract your current weight from your start weight. Divide that number by your start weight. 326-181=145. 145/326= .453. Round to 45%. If one was looking at in increase for example you bought a stcock at $40 and its now up to $45. You would work it this way 45-40=5. 5/40=.125 or an increase of 12.5%. Crux if your looking for a loss you divide the difference or the two number by the large number. If you are looking for a gain divide the difference by the smaller number. Works every time.

I asked those questions also, I think its all BS. I smell better than before.

Just because your old you cant state that you wont lose weight fast. I am 54 going on week 9 and today hit 70 lbs gone. This is my 1/2 way point to goal. The weight has come of in stages. There are times that I want to slow down to let my body catch up, however my brain wants to see those scale number go down. If you follow the Nuts directions the results will be amazing. The best advise I can give you is water , water and more water.

Dont ask others, do the math and see if a Vegan diet will meet your needs. Most Vegans I know substitute everything they cant eat with sugar. In my opinion, going vegitarian is a compromise that makes more sense since you get dairy and eggs.

AT Jersey Mikes you can your sandwich made into a salad. They are not bad. One small salad is 2 meals for me.

At this point of time you shouldnt need Protein shakes. Getting 60 grams of protiem in without shakes is easy unless your a Vegan. -
Not getting enough protein, calories, or liquid
par1959 replied to moneal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just make sure to get your water in. The rest will come in time.
