    Veggie Spaghetti

There are several manufacturers. The support group I attend test drove one last month. Since then I have purchased one and had zuccini and meat balls last night. Also great for making cucumber type salads. Speaking of califlower, Try branching it and add some red pepper to the water. Once its starting to get tender drain it that bake it until it turn golden brown. Serve with a low cal dipping sause of your choice. Good stuff.
  3. My Doc offeres BA, but says I can use other brands with the simular lableing. I have only tried the BA soup and a orange smoothe. The soup wasnt bad, but the smoothie was not so good. In my opinion, all the protien shakes / smoothies or what ever they lable them are terrible.

    EASY WAY OUT!

Ask them," is having a bypass the easy way out when one has heart disease"?

    Incisions

My Doc said I would have 5.
  6. Funny Story. Sounds like you have things under control. Being pre op I have to wonder how to react in a simular situation. Luckly , I am not a fan of sweets, so cinnabons wont bother me.
  7. Keep at it. Always have a Water bottle and a Protein shake near you. Force yourself to take sips often. You now have to think about how to eat each and every meal. I know this will be hard for me. My NUT says to take 20 to 30 minutes for each meal. No TV or reading so that one can concentrate on each and every bite. It’s my understanding that retraining yourself can take several years. My first reaction was 1.5 hours dedicate to eat everyday no way. But after reviewing what I spend my time doing, eating correctly is better time spent.

    Building muscle without heavy lifting

I highly suggest spending the money and hire a good PT for a month. They can train you how to lift using all the quipment without hurting yourself and get the most out of each workout. It was worth it for me. One thing many dont understand, during work outs numbers really dont matter. This means the amount of weight and numbers of reps is not important. Instead keep you heart rate up and do what you want just make sure the musles you're working burn out of fuel. Mix it up to avoid becoming bored. My trainer could make me cry using lite weights (7Lbs). A trainer can also point out others in the gym as examples of what not to do. Some people make me cringe watching them improperly lift weights. Its easy to hurt yourself. The 20 somethings can get away with poor form, but once your injured your out of the gym. Bottom line if it hurts, stop and go doing something that doesn't hurt.

    Too soon

If you havent work out for awhile your musles will hurt a few days later. I have learned the hard way many times to start out light and easy if you havent been to the gym for awhile. It takes several weeks to get to the point of not much pain after a work out. In my opinion, 150 Lbs is to much weight to start with. Its not a competition.
  10. It's unrealistsic to ask those that have concerns not to air them. Where wouold you want to have surgery in a place that has clean water and working sewers or one that doesnt like Mexico or other 2rd and 3rd world countries.

    North Seattle/ Lynnwood, WA

What clinic are your going to? I am preop and have chosen NWWLC in Everett. I highly recommend attending one of their monthly support groups. You will learn much from those that have already had the surgery. Most are back at work in one week. I plan on taking 2 weeks when I get to that point.
  12. Go back to the basics. Protien first, No water for an hour after eating. No sugar or high cal drinks.
  13. Am I the only one that that is so good my wife stays satisfied for 6 months at a time? I have to wonder will it grow to 12 months of satisfaction after surgery?
  14. The sleeve was developed as the first surgery for very large people, then to be followed with a bypass. As time went on, statistics showed that the sleeve was almost as effective as the bypass. Now the sleeve is the popular surgery. That being said a bypass does have advantages for some. As another poster said, you can always get a bypass after a sleeve. That would be the more conservitive move.

    50-70 years?

In my research, I have only found sleever who had surgery as far back as 2008, so 7 years. That being said I have personally meet a lady who had a band for 11 years and had it replaced with a sleeve about a year ago. She enjoys the sleeve compared to the band. Her feelings made it easier to choose the sleeve for me when its time for surgery.

    choosing a dr

I wanted a full service clinic that offered great after surgery support. The one I found had three Docs all have incredible records. The team has performed 500 VSG's in the last year with only one complication ( a leak). All the staff with the exception of the NUT has had weight loss surgery. Those things helped me choose.
  17. Wow! that is increditable. Keep up the good work.

    Protein help!

I know how you fell. Years ago I had my mouth wired shut for 6 weeks and had to rely on protein powder. It was horrible. All brands are sweet. Not sure how I will make it after surgery. One day at a time and try not to think about how awful they are.
  19. When you feel well enough. Just remember not to swallow:)
