Question Regarding Food after Surgery - Ramadan
striver replied to striver's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nil by mouth between sunrise and sunset but after sunset until the morning u can eat and drink as much as u like - it is a real discipline - teaches u to control the food and not let it control u.....why am i FAT LOL>???/

Needless to say it probably doesn't work for me the rest of the year - JOKE:) -
justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared
striver replied to justwaitin2b's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OK Karen Deal! I have 11 and half months to go and counting... Cant wait.....I am confused though - shall I do the Atkins diet for the next 11 months - or should i eat everything I want and sacrifice myself on the BAND........ OOOHH too many choices.........:help: Maybe the band will teach to be obsessive about ourselves - we mums always put ourselves last......wait til ur kids become teenagers and wont come out of their rooms.....lol:heh: Oh I think your just great - i like to help people too - and usually those people u help and support return the favour when u need it.... OK M stands for my very long name which is Mujahidah - quite a mouthful that is for sure. When I had my gallbladder out 10 years ago the surgeon couldn't pronounce my name so he said he would call me "M" and it stuck.I like to make things easier for people also. Lovely to hear from you and keep up the liquid stuff it will be good in the end. regards M:) -

hi All, Yes amongst the sun and surf in Australia we get fat and fattter.. I am here to find out more about Lap Band surgery. I have done some research and am pretty satisfied after 30 years of trying to lose weight that this is probably a last resort to save my life. I am giving myself one year - thats how long health care takes to pay for any pre existing health issues down here - that one year i hope to spend learning as much as I can about the surgery in order to make post op as successful as possible. I am looking forward to meeting all the success stories on the forums and also the people whp are trying. I hope it will be a productive experience for all. kind regards M:)

Hi All, You better all get used to me I think I will live in this forum for the next 12 months before surgery and for the rest of my life after it. lol Question !: Does the band nes. need replacement after a few years? Question 2: Is there anyway to avoid the large bags of skin where you lsoe weight and is there any particular reason why some people get them after weight loss? thanks all, kind regards M :help:

Newbie Here from Australia
striver replied to striver's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dear All, wow woke up this morning to lits of replies. Thank you all. I will buy the book and have a read. There are many centres down here charging way over what u have quoted in price the Sydney Obesity clinic are charging in excess of 15 thousand which is way more than chicken feed. I think I really have to look around as prices seem to vary enormously. I have had quite a few of my friends try to talk me out of it - they said they will pay for personal trainers and modifast if i just want to eat a liquid diet. I have explained to them that for me this is not a quick fix by any account and that it is going to be hard work I realise that. I am over 140 kilos and to lose the amount of weight I have to - well lets say no personal trainer or another diet I feel is going to fix it. I have community pressures family pressures - this is I feel the only choice. I have 2 teenage daughters who need their mum and a wonderful husband who just wants his wife around and will support anything I chose to do and that makes it way easier. I homeschool so my girls are atg home with me so they will be my carers for the most part - the next 12 months will mean many lessons on mursing and cooking skills needed post op. Nice to meet you all and I look forward to chatting with you over the next 12 months kind regards M -
