hi, The bars are yum. I am not fond of sweets and prior to mu operation I made a broth of chicken necks and veges on the list - it just kept me going. Just have patience - when u look back after your op. u will understand how it just makes things easier. I lost 6 kilos after doing one week opti-yuk haven't weighed myself for almost 2 weeks now but I am sure I have lost more - it is motivating me now after the surgery. You go girl and just don't look back.. regards and all the best M:thumbup:

Dear Chickie, I am sending u cyber hugs and smiles of admiration and pleasure. I am so proud of you and hope to be where u are very soon. You have done well and I respect the fact that u really got your head around the banding and realised that the band is a means to an end not an ends to a means. I too really want to utilise the band to reach goal weight so I can get on with my life - I don't expect everyday to be a "good day" by any extant - but the fact that I am now banded - I am sure will make every day a better one...... I get sick of seeing people who don't take the lapband seriously. The operation is just the beginning an ongoing commitment is what is needed - that is for sure. I met a woman recently who had the band put in 2 years ago. She had only lost 20 kilos in that time and she admitted that it was because of neglect of appointments for fills etc. She had a "couldn't care" attitude - and I couldn't believe someone would go through surgery and 2 years down the track with only 30 kilos total to lose would be so blatantly forgetful of the whole point of the "Band" to achieve weight loss. i have a wonderful friend who is having it done next week. and we are hoping to support and encourage each other in our new found lifestyle choice. I think I always need to remember that I chose the lapband - it didn't choose me!!! Congrats on a great job - May have u have a healthy life full of purpose. regards M

Dear Chickie, I am so proud of what u have done and hope to do as well. I have some question for you regarding your achievement. 1. Did u diet after Lapband to achieve goal weight that quickly. 2. How many fills did u have before goal weight reached? 3. After reaching goal weight - how did u maintain goal weight . e.g with fills or without fills. thank you so much, regards M

hi all, I went to pre-op consult with surgeon today - I have been on Optifast for 1 week and I have lost 5 kilos.:scared2: My surgery is Monday 18th February and the surgeon is very pleased. I must also admit that i didn't stick to it absolutely - but when i did pick it was on a piece of carrot or extra salad or broccoli so it was that I went way off. All the best with ur operation - I am sure u will be fine. regards M:thumbup:

Hi, I am due to pay for mine 15,377.00 which I am self paying for. I am having the op done thru Sios in Sydney - Dr Taylor will slice and dice. This covers everything including fills for ever, and 8 dietitian appointments, I am due to be banded 19th feb 2008 - Bring it On I say! I can't wait..
-
Yes u can. my op is on feb 18th and i am optifasting. I had the berry bar for lunch followed by a large Water chaser. I was stuffed. go for it - but stop at one per meal. regards M:thumbup:

why don"t u take her aside and have a wee talk with her. Sometimes, people are really insensitive - and they really dont get it unless u take them aside and tell them that it is not the appropriate thing to do. And then if she still doesnt get it - threaten to kidnap her and feed her macdonalds for a month and see how she feels (joking) Of course we fat people don't do that kind of think right (wink) Either that or u could pray for her to blow up like a balloon... I agree it is harassment. but then again u wont be in the fat club for much longer - u are doing so well. Dont worry about it - she will get hers. Sounds like she needs a reality check big time!! regards M
-
That is great news - Im so glad and hope all will go well for u. I also have alot of weight to lose and a high BMI. regards M (Mrs. also)

I prefer the deserts myself. They seem to feel more like a meal and are very tasty. They taste much better really chilled as well. I think I still may have 1 last bash b4 the surgery though - i am after all human. regards M

hi all the best with your surgery, I am sure you will be fine.... I am due for the surgery end of Feb had all my consults today didnt see the pysc. The dietitian was really informative though. Went home with a headache lots of information that is for sure. Have to go on 2 weeks of Optifast so will enjoy the next 1 week of normal eating I guess for a while. Ask lots of questions thats the key the only dumb question is the one u dont ask that is for sure. best regards M

Dear All, I went off to my 4 consults in 1 at Sios centre in Ashfield. I'm booked in for surgery 27th February, 2008 and I am really excited.:frown: My friend came with me - she is awaiting the kick in of her health care fund in December this year but was hoping for some miracle chance of a finance option with this centre so she could have it done earlier. We were informed by the nurse at SIOS that Concord hospital is allowing them to select suitable patients who fit their criterion to have lapband surgery in there hospital for a total cost (including surgeon, hospital stay, follow up visits for fills (bulk billed etc) for a cost of just over 8 thousand dollars. Concord hospital is allowing SIOS to perform 2 lapband surgeries ONLY per fortnight. The criterion includes such thing as weighing less than 150 kgs and the patient not having too many obesity related illnesses and a few others. My friend is subsequently going for her initial consultation this Friday and has been told she seems to meet the criterion and could expect to go for surgery within the next 3 weeks. Obviously, she is wrapped. This is alot cheaper than 15, thousand which I am paying, or even the 10 thousand even with health care - that of course already includes 12 months of health insurance fees. This will certainly make it a little easier for many who want the surgery but are put off by the 15 thousand price. Just thought I would let u know in the hope that someone may be able to benefit. More power to lab bandits I say. regards M:redface:
