  1. I guess I just don't want or need those kinds of friends. No one needs to tell me I've put on some weight. Believe me....I got that all figured out. A good friend will love me for who I am, and support me in whatever I decide to do without judging me. (ok, done ranting) carry on.

I'm done telling folks. They don't get it

@@lose2winagain That is awesome that you have your sisters support. I just believe that since my sister has never, in her entire life, ever had a weight problem. I'm sure that when she sees me I probably disgust her. In her mind I am clearly a big fat nobody who has no self control and no drive to improve my health or appearance. Which is all untrue. These "diet" corporations have so much of my hard earned money! I have gotten thin a couple times in my life, it just never lasted long. My big clothes will be donated to the bariatric hospital for people in transitional sizes. I hope I will be able to help someone out in some way. This surgery just can't happen soon enough for me. I am ready for this to happen today, but dang insurance co! I must wait till 1-2-15 to enroll in the bariatric program to ensure everything is done by the book, so no reason to deny anything because I didn't follow a rule. Sorry, done ranting. (The waiting is tough, I agree!) Have a great day!

  6. well...I have no ex's to rub the weight loss in their faces. I've been married forever. But I do have a 35 year HS reunion coming up!! Now THAT could be FUN!!! It makes me giggle to think about it! HA!

    It's over

I'll be perfectly honest....if ever I'm having a bad day, I re-read this whole thread. and get such a great laugh out of it. I sure don't want anyone to think I am making fun of anyone, or laughing AT anyone. But the content of this thread is just hilarious and PRICELESS!!!

Required 3 years of medical records

hi @@darby0375 Doesn't look like too many folks have either read your question, or maybe don't know how to answer. I don't think you need to worry about that one year. From what I understand, it's just a hoop to jump through for insurance purposes. I had to gather 5 years of weight history. 5 years ago my BMI was 33, 4 years ago it was 35, 3 years go it was 37, 2 years ago it was 40, Now it's 42. I see a trend, what do you think?. Also, I'm sure the lower BMI can be explained by a diet or two you may have been on at the time. I wouldn't sweat it.
  11. @@Elizabeth21 Thank you! You nailed it. My OBGYN has been pressuring me to have a colonoscopy for years. My Grandpa on my Mom's side died from colon cancer.....he was 100 years old, about 50 years ago, I have no other blood relatives with this issue. I've been doing the poop test every year. If anything was ever found, then I would have the test. I prepped for it a couple years ago. Waited in a gown in the waiting room hooked up to an IV for 8 friggin hours, and finally pulled out all the needles got dressed and left, The Doc was walking in from the parking lot, he saw me and asked me where I was going. (some nerve!! Hubs was with me and told him off in spades!) He still billed my insurance as if he completed the colonoscopy!! I reported him. I don't believe he still practices in my city anymore. That just left a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to this test. If I need it, I'll get it done. otherwise, count me out. For now.

    Protein gel

I'm with Elode here.....never heard of Protein Gels. Are they like protein Jello shots?
  13. I had my appointment with my OBGYN last week, and told him my intentions of pursuing bariatric surgery after the first of the year. He asked me where I planned on having it done, and had I chosen surgeon? I told him, yes, the KC Bariatric Hospital Pavilion, and Dr Hoehn. His eyes LIT UP!! He said, well, I have no issues with this at all! He said I chose the best of the best! Made me feel so much more at ease. I already had heard from patients that he was awesome, and that the facility was amazing, but to hear it from my own OBGYN!! That sealed the deal for me. Anyone else have experience with this facility and surgeon?

    KC Bariatric Hospital

Oh WOW! I will be calling UHC on Jan 2nd to enroll in the bariatric program, them calling Connie at the Pavilion, she is expecting my call! lol
  15. Thank you! Sometimes we just need someone to hear us. Not to "fix" everything, but just to listen and to care, even just a little.
  16. So, I had my obgyn appt earlier this week, and had him provide me with the last 5 years of weight history. It didn't start out too bad. BMI was about 33 about 5 years ago, and went up every single year after that. oh! And they have my height incorrect on my records. They have my height were it was at in my 20's. I am in my 50's and gravity has shrunk me bit in height. I have high hopes I can explain the discrepancy to the bariatric hospital and insurance co, so they understand. My PCP measured my height when i began my 6 month supervised diet 7 months ago, and I was 5'6" not 5'8". I had the OBGYN office correct this years, which has my BMI correct, but they can't go back and correct previous years. What do you think? They should understand right? I didn't shrink overnight.

    5 years of weight history

@ Thank you. That eases my mind quite a bit. I worry so much that somehow I will be denied. I don't know why I worry so much. I'm clearly a candidate. BMI proves that. I am otherwise healthy, aside from sleep apnea, which is controlled now via c-pap. Plus I've had a weight problem all my life, and been dieting every day of my life for about 45 years. I think that should cinch it. lol Thanks again! Happy Holidays! Wish me luck. I'm calling to get all this started on January 2nd!
  18. my point exactly. Not sure what the purpose would be for this procedure in particular. I understand it is a "stand alone" preventative procedure, but not one that would be needed for this. I wouldn't think anyway.
