    Worried

@nprcowboy Thank you for the update. I am so sorry to hear about all the issues you have been dealing with. You sure don't need anyone private messaging you with negativity. All here were concerned, and looking for you. I checked your profile, and it showed "online", which could've just been your computer was up and logged into BP. I hope I am not the one who started the bad vibes. I wish you and your wife all the best, and pray for a complete recovery for her. All the best, Sherrie.

    Pixie cut?

it took me 3 years to grow out my pixie cut. But if you are into short hair...Pixie is the way to go! You've got the right facial features for it!
  5. I got the call today! Insurance has been verified, and my first appointment has been scheduled for January 26th!! The case manager at KC Bariatric asked me to check with my case manager with UHC Bariatric Resources to see if a supervised diet was a requirement. I told her, I'll ask, but whether it is or it isn't you have copies from my PCP of my 6 month supervised diet, along with copies from my OBGYN of my 5 years of weight history, and copies of my sleep study. She said.....well.......you were prepared, weren't you? lol Cross your fingers. I want to give this to myself for my birthday which is Feb 26th! Say some prayers!!

    It's the $*%$^%$ INTERNET!

I'm cracking up at work! Im practicing my flouncing but im just not prancing nearly as well as i will once i lose the weight. And personally i think this thread should last forever. The smiles and giggles are worth it!!
  7. well....the juice I use is No nicotine, candy flavoring and edible grade glycerin (like the stuff they use to make fondant). It makes a nice puff of vapor, but there are no chemicals or additives.
  8. e-cigs with zero nicotine ROCK! I do believe in those!
  9. That would be so totally painful! Could rip out some staples too, I bet.

    Newbie

Welcome! You're on a good supportive site!! read lots! Ask your questions. Everyone is so helpful. Oh, and don't take things personal. Everyone just wants everyone else to succeed. all the best!!
  11. Nicotine prohibits healing. If you are intending on a surgery soon, ,you need to give up the nicotine entirely. For me it was easy. I smoked 2 packs of cigs a day for 35 years. I decided I wanted WLS and to live a longer life, so I threw my "full" pack of cigarettes away and never looked back on the day I decided I wanted surgery (a year ago). I weighed the pros and cons. What is important to you? To be healthy enough for surgery and have the best outcome without complications? or continue to smoke and not have surgery, or lie about it, have the surgery, end up with a leak that can either be repaired or not. Live or die? I chose to live. Believe me, I loved smoking. But I want to live more. Smoking is my past. Living healthy is my future. I hope your choice has you living a long and healthy life as well. All the best, my friend.

    Let me introduce myself...

Welcome! WOW! You are moving right along! Be sure to let us all know how you're doing!!

Introducing myself. Two weeks till surgery.

morning! (It's 7:30am Sunday morning in KCK!!) as far as no support from the hubs...I was there. My hubs was NOT supportive at all.......until it gets closer to being a reality. He kept telling me..."just quit eating, and go to the gym". DUH!! As we all know, our issues are a little deeper than something as simple as that, and this tool can help us lengthen our lifespan, as well as improve our mobility. Some people just don't realize how difficult it can be to not be able to clip your own toenails, or tie your shoes, or (other things I won't bring up) Anyway........my hubs is now my BIGGEST cheerleader! He is researching recipes and trying them out (he recently retired, and has some time on is hands). He got rid of all the breads, white flour, sugary items. He is making plans for after my surgery. He's helping me find yummy Protein powders, he got me Popsicle molds so we can make protein Popsicles once I am home from surgery. He will be waiting for me everyday after work so we can go directly to the gym (or the park if the weather is nice) and walk or ride bikes. He did the research on his own once he determined I wasn't going to change my mind and quit. So, my advice to anyone who's significant other is unsupportive.......ignore them. Continue on your path to good health, and if they truly love you, they'll hop on your bandwagon. (Those are just my thoughts this early Sunday morning). Take care everyone. Sherrie
  14. ZERO cigs, you could be denied if you have nicotine in your system at all.
  15. Not crazy at all. I believe you are one smart woman to extend your life and want to give life to a baby. All the best to you and your future family.

    Out of pocket expense?

My OOP is $1500.....not too bad for a life saving procedure!

Introducing myself. Two weeks till surgery.

HI Eli! Welcome! I'm Sherrie. I have my 1st appt with my surgeon in about 10 days! I have most of my pre-op stuff already done. So, Hoping to speed this along. I understand your feelings of loneliness. I'm married almost 30 years, and gained so much weight, I may as well be single. (my hubs and I still adore each other, it's just not as physical as it used to be) But that is all about to change with this life saving/changing surgery. I believe great things will happen for you as well. There are some great folks on this site with some great stories to tell, and advice to give. I've been lurking around this site since April. I've gotten acquainted with several folks here (still only via the site), but all good people. Best of luck to you, and keep us all posted on your recovery and results!
  18. Maybe it's like Krypton in Superman movies. Crap-ton, Krypton.....could be. Some people just were not born with "filters".

@ it's a "wish" date. I just liked the ticker. I'll update it once I know an actual date, or maybe I'll do a weight lost ticker instead or as well.
