SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

This is really something. That's all I got. But, at least I do have some drama to come home to since they took my soaps off the air. Carry on.

    Not supportive

My husband of 28 years isn't supportive either. Soon you will learn to ignore him. Most generally if it isn't about HIM, or it isn't HIS idea, it's wrong, so, I just ignore him. But that isn't stopping me from taking care of me. If he really loves you he will come along for the ride, and stick around just like the vows say! He is probably just worried about the risks, which, these days there are fewer than there used to be. Maybe he should have a discussion with the surgeon and voice his concerns. The surgeon can provide him with real statistics that are eye opening.

    One month to surgery

I am exactly 1 month from my surgery today! I have 3 weeks till my pre-op liquid diet. It still seems far away somehow.
  9. yep. Check with your bariatric coordinator with your insurance co. My requirements via UHC were to meet with my PCP monthly to discuss diet, and weight management, but there were no specific amount of months to do this (I did 6 before knowing that) and there were no stipulations that I had to lose. Thank goodness. But I knew that going in. My insurance prior to this year was BCBS of Kansas City, which excludes WLS for any reason. So, I took insurance out this year with my employer for the first time since I was hired 15 years ago, and on January 2nd I applied for the bariatric program, and was approved. Psych clearance is required, meet with your PCP about weight management for no required time, and use a COE and Dr in their COE program. Luckily UHC is easy peasy! Good luck to you with BCBS. Many people have great experiences with BCBS. Call them. They'll tell you what you need to do.

    Surgery in 7 hours

glad to hear you are recovering! You were number 5? My surgery is at 11am, told to be there at 9:45. I wonder what number I am. hmmm ......take it easy!!

    Made me chuckle...

    awesome!
  12. I bought a body pillow (because someone recommended I get a body pillow) I'm hoping it helps with the stomach sleeping issue once I get home from the hospital. I'm not really even sure how to use this body pillow, but I expect I'll figure it out!

    Out of pocket cost

I will not know how much it costs here in Kansas City till after 4/23. Once I see that bill I'll put it out there. Luckily for me I have UHC PPO and only have to meet $1,500 OOP for the year. I already met that with the EGD, and other side visits, CPAP monthly charges, etc. So my surgery will cost me $0.(and so will everything else this year!!!) But, I am really curious, myself, on how much the final cost will be.

SERIOUSLY? REALLY? YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!

@@gal friday not sure why you are no longer a therapist, but in my opinion, if someone is that thin skinned, then they really have no business in a public forum such as this. While some folks are super sweet, and sappy, many are just human, and flawed, and entitled to their opinion. Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing. If someone has issues with the messages they have received on the site, they can certainly move on to another site (which will be no different.....or may be worse) or stay off public forums altogether and do the in person support groups, or see their own practicing therapist. my 2 cents.

    Here's my story... A to W

All the best to you! And welcome to BP! I'm 53, and also have had a steady gain throughout the years. I was thin, though, a few times in my life, but not really for very long. My VSG date is 4/23/15, and it seems like time has stood still. It just can't get here soon enough. I have some of the same "wants" OH! To cross my legs, trim my toenails and polish them by myself. See you around the forums!! Best of luck to you on your journey to great health and long life!
  17. I would also think cottonmouth would be really tough when you can only sip, sip, sip......

    Cold Medicine

I bet your Surgeon could answer that question for you. Although, there are probably some doctors, nurses and veteran bariatric patients who could answer it as well. For sure not Alka seltzer! I work with someone just back from sleeve surgery and she has a really bad head cold. But I don't know if she's taking anything for it.
  19. I promise I will try it after my surgery and I'll give a shout out about my experience. (some of these responses truly had me laughing out loud!! folks need to "lighten up"!)
  20. um...pot=munchies. I'm voting no for now.

How to Pack a Weight Loss Surgery Friendly Lunch

@@Stevehud Thank you, you saved me a google search! Good article!
  22. One thing for sure, once you are done completing all the requirements, and jumping through all the insurance hoops, you will know that this is the right step for you (or that it is not the right step for you) Some people give up. Those people probably wouldn't do well with the surgery, because once you have the procedure done, there's no going back. There's no saying, "I don't like this afterall, This is too hard, it's taking too long, I think I'll just eat the way I did before". Once you have the surgery, you're committed to this lifestyle change!
  23. yep! luckily for me, I had coworkers who went through the process, and warned me. I started monthly weigh in visits with my PCP prior to the first of the year when I took out the insurance, so I had the hard part done.
