    Liquid diet suggestions

@@Kindle I tried the unjury Proteins. I ordered the sample pack, and I did not like them. I found the GENEPRO to really be unflavored. I put a scoop in my Water with crystal lite lemonaid. Love it! When I mix it up with lots of ice in my vitamixer, it's like a sorbet. Can't even taste the Protein.

    Liquid diet suggestions

PB2 is also yummy to add to the vanilla (or chocolate) shakes. Syntrax Matrix flavors I have tried, and LOVED are fuzzy navel and strawberry cream. Also I use the GENEPRO unflavored, and I can add to anything and it really is unflavored. You won't go wrong with the Syntrax Matrix, though. REALLY.

    Endoscopy question

They are also looking for H-pylori, which you would need to start antibiotics and be on them a couple of weeks prior to your surgery. Again, not a show stopper. EGD is no big deal! Blink and it's done.
  6. I have vaped zero nicotine since I quit smoking analogs one year ago April 1!!! I am proud to say I have been free of nicotine for one full year!
  7. Wooo hoooo!! two more weeks after tomorrow. What are they looking for with the labwork?? I had labs done 5 months ago, and everything was ok. So, I'm not too worried. Also, I meet with the surgeon. Any tips on what to ask him? Anything I should tell him? Would this be a good time to let him know I need him to approve 4 weeks off? That is how much time my employer's Short term disability insurance will approve for this surgery. I have a sedentary job, but I have to lug a 25 pound laptop bag in and out of my truck. I've also been told by friends to take as much time as I can, because they came back too soon, and ended up having to use up all their PTO. I have someone covering my desk for me, so no worries there. I would like to know when the best time to ask that particular question is. I don't want to wait till post op. help!

Pre op and labs tomorrow...and a question

Got work covered. I have to take the first week as pto, then STD kicks in at 100% for 25 weeks. I know I am allowed up to 4 weeks for this procedure. I have someone covering my desk, that my boss approved. I want that time to get well, and get acclimated to my new tummy and new way of eating before I go back to the job of meetings every other hour, "help me with this", write up this memo and meet with this person, be available to assist in terminating this person, be available to do interviews all day on this day and that day......no breaks, no lunch breaks. I am an abused supervisor. I am not "important" enough to be able to take my breaks. I am salaried, so no one gets in trouble for that. Nor for expecting me to work 60+ hours per week. I want this 4 weeks. I'm going to ask for it. Sure hope he understands.

    Annoying little rant

@@Okinawa girl That happened to me. I had everything done, just needed the class. My Case mgr at the bariatric hospital told me it was on 2-11. I took the day off work. I called the day before, just to be sure, and NOPE, she didn't get me into the 2-11 class, she got me into the 2-26 class. THEN she couldn't figure out why I thought I was in the 2-11 class. Well...how did I even KNOW there was a 2-11 class, if she didn't tell me to be at it?? Anyway, Once it was submitted and approved, it has been a whirlwind. My date is 4/23. Not long now.

    Back in the hospital.

Any advice for something as serious as this needs to be from someone with a medical degree. Good luck. Hope you're ok.

Nervous - Does Anyone Else Feel This Way

I also have the same fears. My surgery is 4/23. I've been going through the process for a year, preparing for 4/23. Learning everything about VSG I possibly could. I watched every You Tube video, I read every book, I joined BP, and made some friends along the way. But I am down to 2 pair of jeans that I can wear, and only a couple more weeks to go. I saw my family at Easter, and not everyone knew about the surgery, so I came clean. My nephew shouted at me..."NO!! Don't do it!! It'll RUIN your life, or you will DIE. Just eat less and exercise more....come on, lets take a walk right now and get started today!! ". To say I was ticked off, is an understatement. He is too young to remember by struggles with maintaining my million losses. I know I've probably lost a million pounds in my lifetime. I just am so afraid of failure. I am a total rule follower, so I know I will lose. I just need this time to be different. This time when I get to goal.....I need to stay at goal! That is MY GOAL!! (get it!)
  12. @@Stevehud While this is a serious discussion, your response was totally entertaining. I would HOPE if the skin was in the way of sex, it would be considered medically necessary.....for heaven's sake! Insurance companies are not in business (and rich) for approving claims.

@@LipstickLady OMG! You are lovely! Happy Easter!! (praying I do as well as you)
  14. 2 weeks and 4 days. OMG. It's finally almost here. I can't believe my heart actually did a little "skip" when I saw my own ticker. Preop with the surgeon on Wednesday, then 1 week of liquids, then BAM! Surgery Day! WOW. As hard as I have worked to jump through all the hoops, and read everything in the world that has been written about VSG, and watch all the you tube videos (some more than once), it's nearly here. Holy cra@p! It's ok, though. I'm ready. I need this. I will have the utmost respect for my sleeve, and I will lose this weight and get healthy. I am down to only 2 pair of jeans that fit. I will just have to handle them with care, cuz I refuse to buy anything in the size I am today. I have closets full of clothes in step down sizes in jeans (and everything else) that are still practically new. Deep breath, and keep on keeping on. 4/23 is going to be here before I know it. It might be time for me to start gathering some of the necessities I'm going to need once I'm home. No sense in rushing out the day before, and risk forgetting something. Like Gas-x. I hear I'll need that. Biotene mouth spray, I've heard that comes in handy in the hospital. I have the Protein shakes and powders I like....plus my (really) unflavored GENEPRO I can mix into anything to get my protein in on liquids only. What else? What have I forgotten?
  15. @@CanyonBaby JC Penneys have a sale on Nioxin (2 kits for the price of 1-full sized kits) So, I bought them! I have been growing out a pixie cut for 3 years. It is to the top of my bra strap in the back, and bangs are at my collar bone. I really don't want to have to cut it off. I have been looking at some pretty cute layered styles that help with the volume issue (plus my hair is very wavy-so it appears really FULL even though it is FINE) No bangs now. Bangs just look silly on a round fat face, but I may consider it once the weight is gone. I have a heating pad, so don't need to buy one of those. I have a vitamixer, so anything can be baby food. I have tiny rubbermaid containers for portion control. I don't need a teddy bear for sad times. I have a silly and loving hubs, plus a couple of really silly pups that keep me laughing. I have been looking for SF popsicles. I think I'll pick those up next week before the liquid diet starts. Ok, then. I think I'm about set. It's EASTER!! Happy EASTER!!
  16. @@CanyonBaby Just how did you know I am a sucker for puppies?! Thank you for the tips! And Happy Easter to you as well!

    Shoes without backs

I bought 2 pair. A pair of Skechers and a pair of Easy Spirits. Narrow felt best, even though my feet swell, and I've been wearing 9's for a couple of years, but 8.5 actually fit better. I got them at a good price at Off Broadway Shoes plus $10 off each pair, so I didn't spend all that much. I haven't worn any of my old shoes (heels and such) in years. I bet they'll fit nice once the weight is gone. Thanks for the input.
  18. Hi all! I have about 2 weeks (or a little more) before my surgery. I have issues with tying my shoes. I have to prop my foot on the stairs to tie them. I am going to go shoe shopping today and buy some of those cute sneaker-like shoes that don't have backs, so I can just slide my feet into them for a bit after surgery. (Easy Spirit has some awesome reviews) What are your thoughts? A waste or money or a good investment (so I don't have to bend over and strain to tie my shoes)??
  19. I'm going to guzzle it before surgery. I love my bottled water!
  20. log in and post on the 22nd (day before my surgery) and tell me if you're doing better. I bet you will be feeling great, and dropping pounds like melted butter, and wishing you had done it sooner. So, I may need to hear that the day before my surgery. I'll be checking, of course, what else would I be doing the day before my surgery??
  21. @@x0CheekzVSG Thank you!! I'm going to need you all!
  22. Wow! I love reading your stories, and so relieved you are all ok, done, and on the other side. My date is the 23rd, so the countdown app is running! I can tell you to the millisecond how far away (or close) my surgery is. I'll be checking on you all. I'll be happy when I'm not an outsider anymore!
