Newbie - How do I choose?

@ I've never heard that :"Studies suggest the sleeve is less effective for women". Where did you hear that or read that? I googled it and couldn't find evidence that it was an accurate statement. -
Newbie - How do I choose?
wannaBthinsoon replied to Shakti's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Shakti keep doing the research. I researched everything for a year......read everything I could. Talked with people on this site to get a good idea of what to expect. The surgeons do a ton of sleeves now days. My surgeon said....easy peasy! I had a very good experience. (again........so happy I did it!) -
@@Deanna66 they pumped you full of fluids while you were in the hospital. Don't be upset, it's the same for everyone. It will come off...along with the rest of it. Just keep sipping your Water and sticking with your doctors orders.

Newbie - How do I choose?
wannaBthinsoon replied to Shakti's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Shakti I had the sleeve due to the complications that could happen down the road with the lap band. I know many people who had the lap band, and had to have it revised to the gastric sleeve due to erosion, or other issues. (slippage, etc) I am super happy with my decision to have the sleeve. It is my new best friend, and I feel so awesome since my surgery. I am early on, but already have lost 35 pounds, and it is noticeable to me in how I feel and get around, as well as in my face, feet and ankles and how my clothes fit. I couldn't be happier with my sleeve. I am 53 in Kansas. -
Who's feeling/ felt starved during the liquids stage?
wannaBthinsoon replied to bringingsexyback1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today was my first day on soft foods, so I was really excited to have ANYTHING that wasn't pureed. I cooked chicken thighs. They were very moist and tender. I also cooked cauliflower ..also very tender. I only had about three teeny tiny bites of the chicken and chewed the crap out of it, and I got the slimes. It wanted to come back up. I won the battle, but it was very uncomfortable. Don't rush it, folks. The liquid and pureed phases are there for a reason. Learning to eat again, is the hard part.....I am finding. -
Pain in large incision area worsening
wannaBthinsoon replied to FlabbyNat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@erose321 I think it's muscle too. It's low...so nowhere near my stomach or anywhere they cut me and stapled me back up. I think it's from all the walking I've been doing. Cuz I feel fantastic otherwise. -
Pain in large incision area worsening
wannaBthinsoon replied to FlabbyNat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@FlabbyNat funny you should post this. I am post sleeve about the same time as you, and just started noticing the same thing a couple days ago. It's my lower left abdomen, and it doesn't feel like it's my "innards" hurting, it feels more like muscles pulled, or maybe it's just healing. It's below the bigger incision where the stomach was removed. I feel great otherwise, no other issues. I have been googling it, and it appears to be normal. -

if anyone is taking the pain meds just a word of warning....you will become super dooooper constipated! So use sparingly, and if you do use the pain meds, take miralax. I nearly had to go to the ER to remove the blockage. I don't want to get into too much TMI but please take my word for it. The constipation caused by the pain meds is unbearable.

Ok. color me confused.

the A1C test is for diabetes. They should cover that test. Actually, an annual physical should be running these same tests, and thus covered. Even if your insurance excludes bariatric surgery many of the tests should still be covered. Like the EGD. That should be covered, as a test to see if you have a hiatal hernia, etc. It's all in the CPT code your provider is submitting to the insurance co. (and ICD9 code)

Anyone NOT have gas pains?
wannaBthinsoon replied to tnkrrbl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Same here. no nausea, no slimes, no nothing. I've had a very uneventful recovery.....except.......constipation caused by the extremely wonderful pain meds they sent home with me. I loved them....till I didn't. The constipation almost sent me to the ER. So beware the pain meds!!!!! -
