    I feel so alone

My husband was exactly the same way! You are NOT alone! My husband talked behind my back to his mother, my mother, his sisters....his friends. He was told about every BAD thing that COULD happen, but nothing about all the GOOD things that would happen. I really think he was secretly hoping I'd decide against having the surgery all the way up until surgery day. But once I woke up, and I was my old ornery self, and nothing had changed, (still look the same, acted the same.....loved him the same) he became my cheerleader. He has started cooking!! He's trying new recipes and fixing them so I can eat it. (He is retired and I work fulltime). My advice is for you to do what is best for you. He will come around and support you, or he won't. If he won't it's his loss. Take care.
  2. I'll be 5 weeks post op on Thursday, and I noticed it hurting (pain level is about a 3 or maybe 2) again. Incisions look great, I feel great otherwise. I wonder if the jeans I was wearing the other day were too tight in the waist while I sat all day at work. The slight pain is where my waistband sits. No nausea, no fever, no redness. I'm blaming the healing process. Or my jeans.

    Post sleeve Constipation!

Thank Goodness I am not alone! I have had severe constipation twice since surgery. It was the most excruciating experience I can ever remember in my life! I thought I was going to have to go to the ER to have it removed from my body! I take MIralax every day now, at least until I can have some veggies and fruit. Lordy, I'd rather have loose stools than constipation. What a pain in the A........well, you know.

    When?

I am just like that. Once I decided on the sleeve, and did my research, I never once was worried or concerned. I Knew in my heart I would do great, and I did. No issues afterward at all, and I'm still doing great. I jumped through every hoop without falter, and never looked back. I never had second thoughts or feelings of regret. I was totally comfortable with it from the start. Never had "buyers remorse" either. I'm stoked that I did this, and some days I just can't hardly believe I actually did it. But I did, and I'm 40 pounds lighter already....and I just began! I can't wait for the future! It's hard to even sit still! I just want to get out there and do all the things I couldn't do for so long. Best of luck to you on your journey!
  5. It may seem like grazing at first, because it is necessary to have a snack or two in order to get in all the protein. I believe once you start solids, it gets easier, but a snack may still be needed for the protein requirement

    Surgery at 56?

53 here!! Had my surgery 4/23/15 and already feeling awesome! Doing things I couldn't do before! Not out of breath anymore, BP is normal, I can walk for miles, and I enjoy it!! Like others have said....wish I had done it sooner. I kept thinking I could do it with a "diet". I was wrong. Best of luck to you @
  10. I'm following this too. I hope others add to this. I am supposed to start "real" food in a couple weeks, and I won't lie, I'm a little scared.

    Trying to stay positive

@@laguerr13 best of luck to you on your upcoming surgery. Best decision I ever made, with the exception of marrying my husband. (he does rank a smidge higher).

    Had my drain removed today

@@Bluesea71 the bariatric center I went to puts a drain in every patient. Depending on the output in the drain when the patient is released from the hospital, the drain could be removed before they leave, or may have to stay in till nothing is draining into the little bulb. Then you'd have to go back to the hospital to have them pull it out. It really is relatively painless, as long as you follow their instructions to breathe out, while they YANK it out.

    Afraid to start solids

I have 3 more weeks before I go to solids. I know I'm scared, too.

    tension at home

@ My hubs was a little like that too, at first. I just decided to use my support from others instead of expecting support from him. BariatricPal was a huge help. I also have a huge support group at work. I did have the surgery. Once I had the date, and had all my pre-op appts done, he knew I wasn't kidding. (I think he thought he could change my mind) He is now my biggest supporter. He is a big help, in cooking and pureeing meat for me in the soft food stage, and helping me track my Protein, and Water. I hope yours comes around for you too. If not then, he's made his choice, hasn't he?

    Had my drain removed today

I believe the drain was the worst part, and mine was removed the next day before I left the hospital. But I think it bruised my diaphragm.

    It's all i think about

EVERYONE goes through this!! Of course you are not alone! I researched for a year before my surgery. I had to wait till the following year for open enrollment then wait till January when the insurance was in effect before I could even go to the bariatric center to see if I was even a candidate. It is so hard waiting. But, I read every single book ever written about the subject during that time. I got on BariatricPal.com every single day and I read everything I could. Then I started asking questions on the boards. Then I became acquainted with some of the other members here...who incidentally are an amazing support group! You may not always hear what you want to hear if you ask for advice, but you will get the truth, either with hearts and flowers or with a kick in the rear. Don't ever be offended, we just want to help, and sometimes we become a little emotional, because, afterall.......we are ALL doing this to better ourselves, and become mobile and healthy and extend our lifespan. So, don't feel like the Lone Ranger! If you have questions...by all means, ask them. And please do reach out when you need some support. We do that best. Wishing you well!! (edited: I forgot...YOU TUBE videos are also on the list of things to do while you are waiting)
  19. @@OneDollarBill EXACTLY! I used to drink my coffee with a little stevia and International Delight Stone Cold Creamery flavor. I never measured. I just want to have a cup of black with stevia. I'll take decaf.....just need the flavor and warmth. I'm staying away from the creamers.....they will make me fail!!! I guarantee it.
  20. @@Italian Gal I can always count on you!! I think I might just have 1/2 a cup at that!!

    Pain one month post op

I had it too. It went away after a couple of days. I was told it is part of the normal healing process. It's good you went to the doctor though, and didn't just rely on BP to diagnose you.
  22. wannaBthinsoon

Im new, sleeved 4/22/15 n stalling! Help

Call your doctor. That doesn't sound normal at all. You may be dehydrated. I had my surgery the day after you and I feel perfectly normal. (better than normal, actually)

    Refried Bea...OUCH!

could be too thick. I watered mind down so it was soupy, and I added some shredded cheddar and sour cream. I still love it. My hubs eats my leftovers for chip dip.

    Another Surgery

I also had a laparoscopic radical hysterectomy (everything was taken out vaginally) 25 years ago. 2nd easiest surgery in my life. The estrogen I had to take for 25 years (which I stopped before sleeve surgery, and I won't take it again) caused my boobs to hurt all the time, and kept weight on me. If you have to take estrogen, opt for the lowest possible dose.
