    Kansas city area sleevers?

Oh, I know Dr Hamilton, too. Very nice man! And from what my friends have told me, an excellent surgeon. Good luck to you on the 30th! Give a shout out when you are coherent and up and about! See you on the losers bench!

    Kansas city area sleevers?

I'm in KC. I went to the Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Dr Hoehn in Lenexa Kansas.

    United Healthcare - Just Beginning

Same here as @@lorralei . It was easy peasy. UHC has recently dropped a lot of the requirements other than BMI now. You had to have discussed weight loss with your PCP, but not for any specific time. And the psych eval was for the Bariatric center of excellence, not for insurance.

    Overnight Bag

chapstick, toothbrush and clean undies. Wore home the same sweats I wore in. The less you take the less you could lose. Plus you won't use anything. When you aren't sleeping you are up walking, then you go home.

    Time off work

I took almost all I was allowed. I was allowed 5 weeks short term disability (100% pay) But I only took 4, cuz I promised i'd work Memorial Day. Take all they will allow you to take. You need this time to take care of YOU! Relearn how to eat, get out and walk, figure out a menu, and what you can tolerate, and what you can't. You need to take this time for YOU. REALLY. These peep who went back so early missed out on some awesome ME time.

    Psych appointment

@ it would be unethical, but that doesn't stop it. My psych is tied to my bariatric hospital. I think you see where I'm going here. No one at my hospital has ever been denied by the psych. He told me so.

    Psych appointment

my psych told me he never did not approve anyone (or, without the double negative...he always approves everybody). Think about it, if they don't approve you, they don't make any money. It's all about the money. If they catch it that you may be slightly depressed, then they will schedule appointments for you to see the psych after the surgery to make sure you are doing ok. I suppose some people wouldn't pass the psych eval, if they were, maybe, sociopaths, or something. But most likely if you are generally in normal mental health, you have nothing to worry about.
  10. Maybe they will push it up. People chicken out, and appointments open up. Mine got moved up. Have faith, and keep your phone on!
  11. All I can say is YIKES! Why in the world does anyone believe it is their entitlement to comment about a persons weight? Would this same person make the same sort of comment to someone's face if they had gained weight? Would she say something about how FAT that person is getting? I mean, really! She is TOTALLY jealous of you, My favorite word begins with F. So F her!!! She doesn't F-ing get a vote. (as others have said...you look wonderful!)

    Sad about missing food

    Constipation!

The constipation has been my only issue since my surgery in April. Now I take stool softeners every day, without fail. I have exlax for emergencies, but haven't had to use it since I began the stool softeners. I am hoping that being able to eat veggies will help me with becoming a little more "regular". Good luck.

    WLS Water Bottle

I have the Eddy! Love it. But wish it didn't sweat. I put ice and Water in it at work, and it drenches my desk with it's sweat. I have an insulated carry bag that I got from AARP that the bottle fits in nicely though. I can carry my Eddy in it like a purse.

    Chewing gum

I think the fear of swallowing it is enough for me to stay away from gum. Gum isn't really a deal breaker for me.

    Constipation

Miralax is the first thing I drink every morning in my first bottle of Water, without fail. I had constipation twice since surgery. I never want it ever again....EVER!

    Any Regrets?

No regrets whatsoever! Not even when I woke up from the surgery. Not when I first got up from the hospital bed to walk the halls. Not when I got home and had to sleep on my back. Not when the drain was pulled out. Not when I had to give myself injections to prevent blood clots. This is been the most wonderful journey I could ever imagine. I had a really easy recovery, and I truly believe being totally educated on what you will be facing and experiencing during this time is key. I knew what to expect, and I enjoyed every second of it. Attitude is truly everything!!

    Sad about missing food

It gets better. Pretty soon you will be able to eat food, and not just drink it. When I was on liquids, and full liquids, even purees, I was HUNGRY ALL THE TIME! lol Now I can eat just a tiny bit of food, and have to stop. I have lost interest in eating. It is too uncomfortable to over eat. I have to eat Protein first....well nothing else fits after I eat the protein, so..... I'm not venturing out to try new things, because I fill up so dang fast. I said this on someone elses page who is missing food too. The all consuming thought of food will leave you, and you will eat to live, and not live to eat. Even the tempting aromas of steak houses and restaurants, etc do not affect me now, because I figure...what's the use? I don't have room for squat, so why bother. I eat my little bit of protein, and I'm done. If I over eat, I get really uncomfortable. I don't like that feeling. Hang in there! (I regret nothing! I dreamed of being able to be this way all my life! Food does not rule me anymore!)

    I miss real food

My surgery was 4/23/15, and just starting "real" foods. I can only eat a tiny bit on soft foods. I am supposed to be able to have raw veges if I want, and I just can't imagine it. I eat a table spoon of refried Beans with a little cheese, and I'm full. Once I hate a piece of deli ham wrapped around a cheese stick, and got in a hurry (we had to be somewhere) and I didn't chew it enough, and I wolfed it down. OMG!! don't do that!! Be mindful once you are allowed off liquids. Really!! When they say chew chew chew....they mean it. and take the whole 20 minutes to eat even the smallest amount. Otherwise, you will get uncomfortable, get the watery mouth and want to upchuck. I just can't imagine how anyone could gain after having this surgery, but they do. I swear I will not!! Protein is my friend!
  25. @@Alex Brecher Was that The Cambridge Diet? Those shakes were the worst! You may be too young to remember The Cambridge Diet. Nothing but shakes, and it cost close to a fortune! I wonder if that stuff is still around. Probably somewhere with the Aydes candies. lol
