  2. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary mamawxfive!

  3. Hi Everyone, I posted here about 2 years ago that I was getting a band. Well, I didn't do it. Now 2 years older and 20 lbs heavier, I am back. I have sent for info from the surgeon and will begin again. I have been reading here a lot and feel that this is the thing to do. It was my husband this time that encouraged me to do it. I was cleaning my koi pond filters and he was watching me struggle to bend over. He told me he felt so sorry for me trying to do things. I have bad hips and that is a lot of my problem, but being overweight sure doesn't help. My doctor told me that I will be having hip replacement in the near future and I want to lose weight for that. I will be 59 the 16th of this month, will I be the oldest ever to get banded? :redface:Thanks for being here. Joyce

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Did anyone have to gain a little weight to qualify. I may have to gain (maybe 10 lbs) in order to qualify. According to the info I received from my Dr., the insurance companies want to see you lose weight over the 6 months you are on the “physician-supervised” diet. I just made it only because I have high blood pressure. I know gaining weight to lose weight sounds unhealthy, but I cannot pay for this myself. I am about 80 lbs overweight and for the life of me can’t understand why insurance companies picked 100 lbs, when being overweight a lot less than 100 lbs is unhealthy. Thanks.
  6. Hello everyone, I just received my acceptance letter from my surgeon Virginia McGrath. I have CIGNA so I guess I have six months of doctor visits. It will be early next year before I will be banded! I am 57 and have been fighting with my weight for about 40 years. I am so sick of buying books, cd's and special food, only to give up before I really get started. I want to feel good, live longer and look good (or better). I am a fast eater and I eat way past full. I think the band will help me with that. I also have high blood pressure, a form of gout in both hips (ouch), depression, high cholestrol and hiatal hernia (man I am a mess). I just made it over the required 35 BMI, but with my high blood pressure I was accepted. I have my first Dr.’s appointment next Thursday. I have to make an appointment for my psych evaluation, then I guess I am on my way. I have a question for those who had to see their doc for six months. Did you lose a lot of weight during the six months? I can’t afford to lose too much now.

Hello, I am just filling forms out for my doctor. I have cigna, so I think I have to see a doctor for six months for medically supervised weight loss. Will people with cigna let me know what they had to do. Did any of their doctors, just fill out the form or do you have to go for six months. I love this forum, I have learned so much. Thanks Joyce
