That's great @ksoslo and @@nerms! So happy for you both!! I'm just logging in today after being off this site for a couple of months. I've been doing good but staying same for this past month. I'm down 23 lbs. I am getting better focused on what I'm eating and getting in walking to get back on track. I probably need another fill soon as well. Let's all keep in touch here. I need it!!

July 2014 banders where ya at and how is it going?
Aliciafl2014 replied to blacktxbelle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded July 22nd and am also down about 12 lbs since day of surgery. I've had one fill of 1.5ccs. I'm calling next week to get in for second fill I can use it now. I'm exercising more and getting more hungry. I have to stick with the basics. It's easy to get off track. Nice to have these forums as a reminder of what I need to be doing. -
Hi all, 59 years and starting a new life!
Aliciafl2014 replied to Darlyn Dwan Rottkamp DeVoe's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wishing you all the very best of luck and blessings! I'm 51 myself and just banded last month. Good for you for taking the step to improve your life. So many people out there suffering. I'm so glad I took this step. I'm down about 15 lbs and already feel such a difference. I too always went to WW without lasting success. -
Sliming question...
Aliciafl2014 replied to GRE110's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll know sliming when it happens! Very scary. If I eat thick bread or too fast it happens. I guess it's the bands way of teaching you -
This morning I had first adjustment. 1.5ccs added to what was my empty band. Dr did under ultrasound and I was able to watch. Very cool. I had to drink something kind of nasty and watch it go down and through the band. I'll go back in six weeks just to his office to check adjustments from there. Loving this band so far. Hope to have some more weight off before my next visit. I can start doing some weight lifting exercises now so that should help too!

Two weeks out and down 7 lbs from day of surgery at my post op visit today! I feel really good and getting in about two miles a day walking and bike riding. I don't have the food obsessions or ravenous hunger. I'm sure I'll have challenging days in my future, but I'm so happy I took a leap of faith and moved forward with this. I'll have my first fill in two weeks at the hospital under ultrasound. I met a woman on the way out of the office who has lost 150 lbs over the past two years on the band and she's getting married this weekend. She says having this surgery changed her life. We both walked out of the office smiling and floating on cloud 9

5 days post op and so bloated :(
Aliciafl2014 replied to newlife14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 10 days post op and it's finally today that I feel much less bloated and swollen. Getting in the walking is making the difference. -
No I didn't racer---x (love the handle by the way). They are kind of mushy to begin with, and good source of protein. I think I'm going to buy a good scale and food processor to help in whipping stuff up.

What are some good mushy foods?
Aliciafl2014 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Scrambles eggs, mashed potatoes and yogurt are getting old. Looking for some good vegetarian choices. -
I've been having soft scrambled eggs- one egg and one serving egg beaters with cheese mixed in. I've had some mashed potatoes, tuna fish and some crab cake. I'm vegetarian so I've mixed some refried beans, hummus and salsa for lunch. I'm staying full and my strength is starting to grow. I'm looking for some more options to start adding. I'm getting about 850 calories a day. I hope I'm doing the right thing. My Dr has monthly meetings at his office with a nutritionist. I'm def going to take advantage of those!

Got it right @racerx. I was banded a week before you. Looking forward to the journey. Right now I have to remind myself to eat or I go too long between meals.

Congratulations nerms! The third day was the worst for me but each day since has gotten progressively better. 8 days out feeling really good

A Few Questions - 1 week post-op
Aliciafl2014 replied to redhead87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still new myself. Just 6 days out from surgery. Just to mention on the legs rubbing if you go to a store that is for runners there is actually a rub they have that you can put on your thighs to avoid the pain of the friction. Also get a good pair of shorts or capris that are tight but breathable will help. I get danskins at Walmart that works well. -

Death and sadness.

My mom last year. My ex husband at a young 55 last week. Have to make the most of everyday. Having this surgery will help w that. I've wasted so much time avoiding life because of my weight. -
Happy to be home resting on meds. Got the clear liquids I need. Had to stop at 7-11 and bombarded with donuts and cupcakes and junk at every turn. So happy to have this ability to start a new life. Like a re-boot.

Recovering in hospital room after morning surgery. Everything went well. Feel pretty good. Have that left shoulder pain I've heard so much about so happy to finally have the band in. Now for sleep.
-
Thanks everyone for sharing your experience! It's really helpful in preparing for surgery. I had to switch surgeons (long story) but on plus side my surgery is moved up two days to the 22nd finally!!! I am so looking forward to moving on with this area in my life. Please continue to keep us updated. So happy to see everyone making out so well!

I thought I wouldn't have to endure Bandsters Hell...I was wrong!
Aliciafl2014 replied to Jenn Cooper's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah Jenn. I would have done the same especially as I'm close to his office. I am able to get in to surgery with another physician Tuesday. I wrote to oband this morning telling them I'm going with someone else and that I need my medical records and return of my deposit. Funny this email they responded to. They apologized but it's too late for me to continue to work with them. Either he has too many patients or their customer service stinks. I think it's a little of both. I'm just happy to finally move forward. I've been in a holding pattern so long with this. -

I have Dr Wizman and due for surgery next week. I'm nervous as I've been trying to get confirm on date as he was switching surgical centers. My 'patient advocate' doesn't return emails and when I just called they said computers were down and they'd call me back. I put down $6,000 last week and they were able to cash check but I'm without answers. I like the Dr but customer service is a real concern for me. I feel I may need to look for a new physician and get my money back. Anyone know of a good physician in South Florida? -
