Thanks everyone. You're right. Not sure how I got my self in such a mess yesterday. Today I am in a better state of mind and ready to do this the right way. Thanks for the wake up call. Checked with doctor and probably did not damage but my have delayed healing a little. It will NOT happen again and I will follow instructions to the tee.... .

Feeling defeated today. Surgery was May 1. I was on clear liquids with no protein drinks since April 21. Continued with clear liquids until next dr. Appt which is this Wed. At which he is supposed to add in full liquids. I haven't really had hunger problems until tonight. Went to dinner with my family for Mother's Day with intention of getting hot and sour soup and only eating broth. Anyway, I was starving!!!!! My family ordered pork dumplings and fried rice, some of my favorites. I took a dumpling, cut it into very small bites and chewed the heck out of it and swallowed it down. Then I allowed myself about 1/2 cup of fried rice, again chewing the heck out of it. Had not problems or discomfort! Glad I'm not having any issues with my poor choice but feeling terribly guilty. The last thing my doctor said to me was now don't cheat! How can anyone be expected to do clear liquids for 3 weeks?????

Not sure why he went all clear liquids for that long, just overly cautious I guess. No one else has been on clear liquids for as long as me.... I don't plan to allow this to happen again but Mayan I feel mad at myself right now....

I everyone. I am feeling pretty good although someone mentioned chewable children's Motrin for pain. You are a saint! I am a nurse and didn't even think of that. I am going to start that every 8 hours and see if I can get some of the inflammation down. I have been having a lot of back pain due to being on the operating table for more than an hour. I have had several surgeries, and anytime I am on the table any length of time, I pay with back pain. I had an issue trying to take my other meds (blood pressure meds, thyroid med and antidepressant. Trying to crush and consume them has been awful! Three days ago, within 30 minutes, I was very nauseated, lightheaded, and sweaty/clammy. I talked to my dr. who said it sounded like my blood pressure dropped too low. Anyway, I went off ALL of my meds and decided to monitor my blood pressure. My blood pressure is still at normal levels, praise God. I will continue monitoring things. Maybe I've already lost enough weight and no longer need them?!?!? The weight is pretty much falling off me right now because I have been on clear liquids only since April 21. I am REAL sick of jello.. Haven't been too hungry but have been craving foods the last couple of days. Just trying to keep busy... I have one more week of clear liquids. This did NOT include any protein drinks at all. Lastly, I have a question. I suffer a stabbing pain below my left breast when I take deep breaths, get jostled or move wrong way. I am assuming this is my bad trying to heal on my stomach, right?

A week post op tomorrow.
lecouch replied to lecouch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to know about NSAIDs. I will check into that.... -
Am post op 5 days and am feeling pretty good. I am sore, but understandably. Low energy, but again understandable. I am on all clear liquids for another week. So far I have been on clear liquids 2 1/2 weeks. I am excited for my progress!!! I lost 17 lbs pre-op. 5 more pounds down since surgery! I looked at upcoming goals for myself. 10 more pounds and I would no longer even qualify for the surgery! 35 more pounds down I will no longer be obese! 30 more pounds from there, I will no longer be overweight. 20 pounds beyond that, I will hit my goal! Life is good!!!!

Had my surgery a couple of days ago and feeling fair. Still battling gas pains from the gas they used and also having intestinal gas. I have to be careful when I pass gas because I have had a few accidents (liquids in, liquids out). Not real hungry. I had list 17 lbs on my pre-op diet but feeling pretty bloated so not even going to get on scales for a bit. Very encouraged though....

Did anyone have any problems with temperature regulation after surgery? 3 days post-op. Last night I was up half the night. I would break out in a horrible sweat (soaked the bed and my gown) then chill real bad. It repeated all night long! Thinking that it may be from having iv's in hospital and only urinating a couple of times.... My body trying to get rid of fluids...

My doctor wants me on a week long CLEAR liquid diet a week before surgery and two weeks after. That would not include protein shakes. I am concerned about excess hunger and what a lack of protein for that long will do to my body. Did anyone else have this same diet? Is it probable that I missed something at my last appointment and therefore need to call him? A little worried I'm going to screw this up....

Question about preop liquid diet
lecouch replied to lecouch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for inquiring about me Mikee57. I am doing ok. I am now on day 9 of my clear liquid pre op diet, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. My surgery is on Thursday! This clear liquid fast hasn't been as horrible as I imagined, but it hasn't been fun. I'm not a jello fan but have managed to choke it down every day. I'm about sick of it though. Haven't been a fan of broth either but was given a hint by the bariatric nurse to take like chicken noodle soup and strain out all of the food. That was a Godsend! Definitely more flavorful! On the upside, I am now 15.5 pounds down! Off to a good start!!!! I've decided that this fast has probably been a good thing because by the time I will be able to eat something, I will really appreciate anything I can eat. -
Question about preop liquid diet
lecouch replied to lecouch's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks a lot for the advise everyone. Day 1 clear liquid fast down with no problems. Before I went to bed last night I prayed and prayed for very little hunger with this fast and today was fine. Thank you God! Now 9 more days to go! Taking it one day (or moment if necessary) at a time.... Feeling positive at this point! -
Any may banders
lecouch replied to Tracy Learmonth Shaw's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get mine on May 1. Nervous but excited. I start my liver shrinking diet next week. My doctor says only clear liquids. Anyone else have that diet. Think I will be VERY hungry.... Also have to do a colon prep day before. Is that protocol?
