Hello all, I was sleeved 09/30 and the first two days while in the hospital sucked for a better term, for a short time I had serious regret. I decided just like when I had a total thyroidectomy several years ago that it would be the new me not a reflection of what I used to be. Fast forward six days and I am doing great. Moving and feeling better than before the surgery. Walking everyday doing normal things, even bowled league with my doctors approval. Down 14 pounds since surgery and only problem is gas x became my closest friend. In addition the dumping when I drink certain things to fast is an eye opener, self correcting mistake. Thank you to everyone for the information. For those that are having trouble keep your head up and make life happen.

I had my thyroid and para thyroids removed three years ago and just had a sleeve done with no issues. I only take 175 with no thyroid at all. My tsh, t3, and t4 have been good for a long time. I am fortunate enough to have a very recognized endo. The hardest part was getting dialed in, he said it takes over a year and it did. The biggest help was taking the meds at the same time everyday on an empty stomach and not consuming anything for at least a half hour. And he will not let me take generic, said most people will not be steady on generic. Because different manufacturers have different fillers.

You have to press your insurance, I have a super long story but I'll make it short. I have a BMI of 38 and only 39 years old. My first surgeon got me approved for the band after I said I wanted the sleeve, said it was cheaper. My co pay was the same for both, he wanted me to pay for his co surgeon at the tune of four grand extra. I filed a complaint and insurance agreed but had to switch surgeons. Three weeks after approving me with the first doctor they denied the second. Two weeks of appeals and they denied it again for a missing signature by my PCP. I finally escalated the issue and had everything documented and when I informed them I was going public with my story they approved it. I personally think they figure most will give up and go away. You have to stay vigilant. My two cents. There is hope.

I had my sleeve done 9/30 as well. First two days I wondered what had I done and had serious regret. Fast forward a couple day and I feel awesome. Even bowled yesterday in my league. I was in extreme pain till I got up and walked it off, in addition gas x is a life saver. Already 12 pounds down since surgery and no problems drinking at all. Best decision of my life, you just have to believe.
