I am but I have had a few pretty big dirt bike injurys and alwasy seem to compair my pain levels to my seperated shoulder or rib seperation from my sternum and it makes the rest of pain I have had so far pail in compairson haha I do have a bit of pain when I try to sit up from bed but not to bad. Right now my left shoulder is smarts from the C02. Im gonna try a heating to see if that helps. I am also taking the liquid drugs the doc gave me so Im sure this is helping. I dont like being on dope but I tried to tuff guy my rib injury and learned real fast that somthings I can tuff out and others I better not try. Having surgery to your tummy is one I dont wana try to tuff out! hahah I have also been walking around alot! Everyone said walking helps with the gas and pain so I have been looping the house and a few loops around the block. It seems to help. I sure hope you feel better! -jes

Im still hung over and got a few gas pains kicking in. I would say I was up every 2 hours last night trying pee. I guess a side effect of the meds is that it makes it hard to pee. My left shoulder is where the most of the gas pain is. My tummy is a bit bloated but I think that might be from the GAX X strips I have been using to ease the gas pains. Im still pretty sleepy but I hope after today I can switch to the liquid tylonal I got rather then the other stuff the doc gave me. I think that stuff is vicoden or somthing but in liquid form and man do I feel stoned! I dont like it at all. Its better then hurting I guess. Anyway, Im in my 2nd day of post op and all in all felling OK! -jes

I think what keeps entering my mind the most is that I have altered my body for life! Its a thought that has come to mind a few times now. But, I ease that concern because I think, "Hey, you have tattoos that will never ever come off, atleast with the band I have have it removed if I have to." It helps me knowing its 100% reversable for some reason. -jes

Hey, I got banded today so IM still pretty out of it. I havent felt bad or depressed at all and hope I dont. But if it helps, please keep in mind that you are not alone. You made the right descion and givne time you will be back to your normal self. If you have a chance, maybe spoil yourself with a new pair of shoes or a funny DVD or somthing. A funny movie works for me most of the time when Im in a funk. Everythings going to be alright. -jes

Thats cool. I just started my chest and have about 9 hours into it so far. Thats 3 - 3 hours sessions. I have about 70 hours on my sleeves. You can see more photos of the progress and close ups on my myspace page if you wanna. Make sure you research the artist you pick for that tattoo. I dont know what state you live in but if your in CA or WA I would use Jason O. Let me know if you want his info and I can shoot it over! -jes

Hello All, I have Blue Cross PPO Prudent Buyer in California for my insurance. I’m trying to find out if anyone else in California has this insurance and what their experiences have been like with this insurance provider and the lap band. My concern is that they will approve the Bypass but reject the lap band. I am 5’ 9” and shy of 271 which would have my BMI at 40 but I will drink 4 gallons of Water if I have to! I thinks its BS to be rejected because we keep working out to keep from getting even fatter. That’s sooo lame! Anyway, I have completed my nutritionist appointment who said I was a good candidate for the procedure. I have also seen the psychologist who also approved me to have the procedure. I have attended 2 different seminars now and I have a consult today with Dr. Patrick Coates in Modesto, CA. I didn’t know this but Dr. Patrick Coates doesn’t do the Lap Band, he only does the Bypass. I have to see Dr. Antonio Coirin for the Lap Band but he is booked until November 2007 for just a consult! Maybe it’s time for him to bring in a partner? Well, my train of thought on this is that I can see Dr. Patrick Coates and he can submit for insurance approval for the Bypass and the Lap band. If not, then he can submit for the bypass and then Dr. Antonio Coirin can basically see me “pre approved” which may help speed up a process that has already taken 2 months. Anyway, if you have Blue Cross PPO Prudent Buyer in California as your insurance provider, please let me know if they approved you for the Lap band and what your BMI was/is and if you have any comorbities. Was it hard to get approved or pretty quick? Thanks all -jes

Well the center of excellence is true. I found that out today. I have been transferred to Fresno Dr. Higa will be doing the procedure. I wasn’t told anything about only 80% covered by my insurance so that is good. I hope to find out Monday what my date for the procedure is... woop! -jes -
I just got started with the whole process. I went to a Seminar on Tuesday but it wasnt from the ALSA office I am going to have do the procedure if approved. I hope I dont have to go to a seminar put on by them because thats atleast another month away. I went to the nutritionist yesterday. The nutritionist said I was a great candidate for the procedure and she is going to send over her blessing to ALSAMG, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Associates Medical Group Fresno in Clovis, CA. I called to set up the appt with the head shrinker today but she was in session so Im waiting for a call back to schedule an appt. Im 32 5' 9" 267lbs my BMI is just shy of the required 40 to be approved by my insurance but I dont think they will bother. If they do then Ill eat a few big macs and then go back! hahaha J/K hahah Im looking forward to getting this procedure done so I can get back my life. Im WAY WAY too fat! hahah It never occured to me how fat I was. I guess my self image is just off a bit but I think Im a very good looking fella. Sure I have alway had few extra pounds but it keeps me modest hahaha. Anyway, I just started the Lap band process but I have been chewing on it for a while now. I tried more diets and work outs then you can shake a stick at but always put on more fat then I started with! Its BS to work that hard then just put more back on... WTF? haha Im kinda freakin out that Im not going to get approved by my Insurance. I have Blue Cross Purdent Buyer PPO and I guess they are cool with the normal Bypass but I dont want that.. thats just WAY TOO MUCH! haha the Lap Band is perfect for me! I hope they approve it or its off to Mexico I go. How many peso's would I need south of the border anyway? ahah Ill post back or when I know more you can check out myspace.com/kingjes when I know if Im approved and I have a "chop/chop" date. -jes
