  1. I realize this was originally posted a year ago! But I just got some bloodwork back from my general practitioner, and she said my white blood cell count is low. I was just wondering what did your surgeon tell you? Did you have to postpone your surgery? Did they give you advice on how to increase it? I will make an appointment with my surgeon/nutritionist next week, I just wanted to be prepared. I am supposed to have my surgery in August, currently doing the 6 month medically supervised weight loss. Thanks and hope everything is well with you.
  2. Hi all, I'm new to the Bariatric Pal site. Hoping to some support and info. I haven't told anyone (except my parents and boyfriend) about my plan for surgery in August, so I'm feeling a little alone in terms of the experience. I'm currently in month 3 of my medically supervised weight loss. Hadn't lost much weight until now (+/- 3 lbs)...I watched "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" so I decided to try a juice fast and it's going well, down 5 lbs. I don't know how long I can fast, but I figured getting used to a liquid diet couldn't hurt, and hopefully get a head start on my weight loss. I'm 5'4, my BMI is 40 and I'd ultimately like to lose ~85 lbs to get down to 150. Anyone else have an August surgery? I'm 85% decided on the sleeve. Very hard to weigh all the pros and cons. Nice to meet you all. -L
  3. Oh Zumba is a good idea, I'd like to do that! I've just increased my walking to about 30 mins/day but I'll have to switch it up at some point. Good luck with everything
  4. Hi Patricia, that's what I liked about the sleeve too, it keeps your body close to normal functioning. I have a tiny voice in the back of my head wondering if the malabsorption component would help me be more successful, but my doctor says for someone at my BMI (and yours!) the sleeve and the bypass are equally effective, might as well opt for the least invasive. Good luck with everything.
  5. I have thank you. I don't lose eligibility if I go below 40 provided it was above 40 (or 35 with comorbities) at the time I applied with insurance.
