    Holiday Challenge!

198.8 today. Doing a 5 mile walk/run on Thanksgiving day really helped stave off the weight gain! Didn't over-eat, but I did indulge a bit.
  7. I won't say I felt *great* on Tuesday, still sore that week. But I didn't need the pain meds after the hospital...and thankfully I have a desk job, so not a lot of movement needed. It went ok. I was glad to have taken such little time off work.
  8. I didn't tell my company, just said it was surgery. I took Friday off (surgery day)...was back at work on Tuesday. It's none of their business.

  12. A stall at week 2 or 3 happens to everyone. If you just keep following the instructions for Protein, exercise and Water, it will pass. I know how frustrated you feel, I was going crazy too. Keep your chin up! My doctor said a way to get over a stall is to increase your calories significantly for 2-3 days (say, 1100-1200) then drop them back down to 800.

August post op sleevers: Check in

I noticed a few of you, like me, are having the dreaded 2-week or 3-week stall. I just wanted to say there is light at the end of the tunnel!! My stall occurred 10 days after surgery, not even 2 weeks! And it just ended this week (down 1.4 lbs today). The stall lasted 17 days. I just wanted to let you know, what everyone says (and your Dr says) about just keep following your diet, Protein, fluids etc...is true. Your body eventually recovers from that initial shock of losing so much, and you start losing again at a slower pace. Other suggestions...my doctor recommended to make sure I'm getting my Vitamin B12 weekly, and to switch up the calorie intake and exercise from day to day, to keep my body guessing. So I focused on that this past week...700 calories one day, 1000 the next, 800 the next, and I tried yoga, elliptical, hiking and just normal walking (not cleared for heavy exercise yet). Good luck everybody, may your stalls be over ever so soon!

    Introduction

Congrats on your recent surgery! I was sleeved 8/22 and am also in Texas (I noticed your name?). I'm down 18 lbs, but have hit this dreaded 3 week plateau. Actually mine occurred around week 2. Just trying to get my protein, liquids and work outs in...and keep going on this journey! I'm sure you'll be able to get away from the small sips soon, I'm able to tolerate much more liquid than before. Good luck.

August post op sleevers: Check in

I had the sleeve surgery on 8/22. I'm on the full liquid diet. No pain, feel almost normal. I've lost 18 lbs, but that all happened in days 1 through 10. I've been stalled a week. I relate to some of you who feel it is frustrating to be doing everything right, but not seeing the scale go down. The nutritionist says the stall is due to my body not getting enough calories, so it's in starvation mode. I'm to switch to a more caloric Protein powder and start making heartier shakes, so I'll venture out to the shops today and get one. Other than the stall, everything is fine. Walking between 2 and 3 miles per day. Just ready to start losing weight again. Good luck to all.
  19. I just had my final appointment with the surgeon before the sleeve procedure on Friday morning. I'm just feeling deflated because I made really huge changes to my lifestyle and eating habits. For me it felt like I was moving mountains. Unfortunately the doctor said flatly he didn't think I did a good job because I hadn't lost weight. The thing is, my home scale showed a loss of 4 lbs...It's not much but it's something in the right direction. At his office, I weighed after two meals (bfast, lunch), lots of fluids, and with my shoes on. (Excuses? maybe...?) But I think that's enough to tip the scale up, naturally. The past two weeks, for the first time in my life I've managed to drink 64 oz of Water per day, I've successfully cut out all caffeine (ouch), alcohol and carbonated beverages, and I upped my Protein intake. The only place I fell short is that I'm not sure I got under 30g of carbs per day (I didn't track it so well)...but I wasn't eating any breads, pastas, cereals etc. Oh well. I'm going to try to not be so discouraged at his quick judgment. I wish someone would have looked at my food diary and said "hey, it's not perfect, but you've made really awesome improvements." These past two weeks, I felt like maybe I really CAN lose weight through diet and exercise, something I haven't felt in years. I'm nervous and anxious about the hospital. Anyone else getting sleeved this week? Maybe we can have a support system something I'm kind of lacking at the moment. Good luck to all. Thanks for letting me vent. Feel free to add me on My Fitness Pal: Leema7
  20. Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. I feel better after a night's sleep. And today is the all-liquid diet. I think it will be fine.

    Low White Blood Cell Count

Hi, I realize this was posted over a year ago but I was wondering what your surgeon told you about your WBC count being low? I have just gotten some blood work back from the doctor, and they told me the same (although I am pre-op)...just wondering what implications it might have for me before I contact my surgeon/nutritionist. Hope it was nothing serious for you. Thank you.
