Lynne, I too have noticed that certain things do not taste the same. You did an awesome job coming home 5 pounds lighter....Congratulations! I loved Disney when we went there so many many many years ago. I've already told my husband I want to go back with the grandkids in a few years.

Try your cottage cheese with a little bit of cinnamon and splenda. It is really tasty.

Good morning Carol Cindy and Cora, I'm glad to say things are going well. I still do not have a time for my surgery on Tuesday. My husband's check-up went well. He still has a normal rhythm. Thank you God! Hope it lasts. Carol-what is the temperature by you. I know it has to be a bit warmer than here. It usually is 10-15 degrees warmer near my son. I haven't been keeping an eye on the weather since we are not going to be traveling to WV in the next few weeks. Hang tough Carol it won't be long until this diet is done and you can move on to the next phase. Cindy-Hope you are feeling better. 2 small children do make your travel plans more difficult. Hope that you get everything done and ready for the week before you leave. Cori-8 pounds is nothing to sneeze at, great job! My surgeon gave us a disc for our computer that is really a book about pre-op & post-op diet, exercise and nutrition. In there it says,"why high protein diet", because high protein promotes fast weight loss. We are not allowed carbs until we lose 75% of excess weght. Every surgeon seems to do things a little different. Must follow what your surgeon says. I hope everyone has a great day! I'm going for a walk before it begins to rain.

Hi Carol..The diet is going okay. I'm down 9.5# since March 26th. You said your hungry, can you have SF Jello, SF popsicles or beef/chicken broth in between your shakes? My doc allows 2 servings of each per day. I just came back from a nice long walk. It was cool, but when the sun was at my back I started feeling very warm. I too hope Cindy isn't getting sick. I am going with DH to the cardiologist today for a follow-up. I pray he still has a normal rhythm. It appears the April Avengers list is growing by leaps and bounds. Chat with you later...

Has anyone heard anything from our April 1st people? Hope everyone is doing well!

I hope your not getting sick, that would really suck. Keep in touch with us and let us know how you are doing. I'm trying very hard to get online more now that our date is getting closer. Good luck, I'll be thinking of you.

Don't get discouraged and stop weighing yourself! You are a woman and you retain water, stop weighing yourself so your not discouraged. Your body fluctuates constantly, you could weigh yourself every hour on the hour and it won't be exactly the same. Only weigh in once a week for better results. I only use the Dr's scale as my official weight.

Glad to see you are up and about! Remember: walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip! -
I too am on a high protein diet, the nurse told us to take benefiber,or fibercon, etc. because it will help with constipation. I take one fibercon pill a day and haven't had too much of a problem. Good luck.

What about a robe for when your walking in the halls?

I was told we can take Extra Strength Tylenol only

Hi ladies, it just seems we all have some kind of struggle to face before having our surgeries. Carol4784-I'm glad that you do not have any other setbacks and everything is a go. Cindy-I too can't believe how quickly the weight is coming off. Like you I haven't told a lot of people that I am having this surgery. Everyone knows I've been watching portions and all. My husband, children and two friends know about it. I didn't want negative feedback. When they all start to notice I'm losing a lot of weight then I may say something. So far I haven't lied to anyone...I have told them I see a Dr. once a month to wegh-in. Now I'll be telling them I'm trying another type of weight loss diet. 2 protein shakes a day and 4oz protein and 1/2 c non starchy vegetables.....it really is none of anyone elses business. Until your comfortable talking about it to everyone, then don't tell. Cori in Wa-how are you doing?

We had an education class. The bariatric nurse started it with pre- during hospital stay-post op diet, supplements and exercises. The nut also was there and went over all of the nutrtion stuff again. We must attend another class at 1,3,6,9,and 12 months and have a visit with the surgeon. We also must have blood work before all of these classes except at 1 month.

Hi ladies, Sorry I"m not a self pay, but the insurance makes you jump thru hoops. I had to do a 6 month supervised diet before they would approve. Luckily for me they approved on the first request. Some people are not that lucky and have to wait a lot longer than 6 months. How is your pre-op diet going? I've lost another 3.5 pounds. The weight just seems to be coming off easily, to bad it never stayed off. I thought I would really be hungry but I'm not. Kinda weird. I guess it sounded worse than it is. Have a great day!

What are your non-scale-related goals?
carol422 replied to LisaB411's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1) To get off blood pressure medicine. 2) Play with my grandchildren and not get winded and tired. 3) To purchase a normal size bracelet. 4) Not be embarressed to walk into a room and have to crawl over people to get into a seat. 5) Of course, a nicer wardrobe of clothes. -
I think that if we didn't have some of these thoughts, we would not be human. It seems unreal to be able to eat only 1/2 cup of food and be satisfied. But it can be done as we all have seen from reading the posts of the band veterans. They have done it and so can we! We have made a committment to ourselves to get healthy, get off medications and not live in the fear that we will have a heart attack,or a stroke, get diabetes or any other illness that is out there that the odds increase with being morbidly obese. Sometimes I too think "what the hell am I doing?" but I know that I can do this and we are in this together. I too have thought about all those get togethers with all that food....but I also think, what if I were not here to enjoy those get togethers with my family? Who cares about the food, it's my family that I'm doing this for. I have 4 adorable grandchildren and another one on the way and I WANT to be here to see them grow up. I want to enjoy them in the same way I've enjoyed my children. If we can keep coming here to support each other, we will all be able to do this for us! Let's keep together, share our fears, share our success, whatever helps to get each other over the rough times.
