For the past 2 weeks I didn't follow the diet, and ate whatever I want, whenever, and had no problems (i think because i'm not filled enough/may have a leak). Anyway.. Today I finally realized I paid $13, 000 for this and I had better get into healthy eating. After 2 weeks of eating footlong subs, mcdonalds, ice cream, what not.. I had my half cup of potatoes and chicken. I ate this, and then I had these LOUD gurgling noises coming up and slimey ness coming up.. it's still happening, and this is why I'm posting because it's driving me nuts.. i'm not liking the feeling. Anyway.. i've never had a problem with potatoes or chicken before and now i'm spitting up slime. Isn't this weird? that just yesterday I could tolerate ANYTHING? and today, I finally stick to it.. and this happens. Any explanation for this? Thanks

haha, thank you very much!!!!!! It's an experience that I definatley have learned from haha.

awww, there must be millions of funny stories like this with people who have been banded, I can totally picture myself in that situation. Here's the update, lol. I started spitting A LOT, so I knew I was going to puke. I felt sick all over, so I ran the the bathroom, bend over, CLOSED MY EYES, and sure enough, it came up. I didn't see it, but it was all slimy because I had to pull part of it out (sorry for the detail, very grosse, I know!). INSTANT RELIEF. Oh my goodness, i feel great now, I could ride a horse.

aww, thank you for the support. I'm home alone right now and I'm a wimp when it comes to stuff like this I am still sliming, lol.. sometimes it stops for a few mins, but then it kicks in gear and I have to spit every second! I'm actually dreadfully afraid of vomit, and i knew going into this I probably would vomit, a lot, actually, but now that's reality, it's a whole different ball park! *wipes slime from mouth* how pleasant! I'll just have to wait this one out I can't even imagine what would have happened if I were naughty again and got subway, lol.. it would be ten times worse! I'm happy this happened in a way because it's basically giving me a quick kick in the butt! Thanks again for your support

I had a fill of 3.5 cc June 27th, I felt nothing, so I went back the week after and got one more cc, so I'm at 4.5cc, I felt no restriction whatsoever... i could eat and drink at the same time, basically I could eat like I could before I got the band, A LOT at one time. So, my last fill was about July 4th, and even almost the next day I was eating bad stuff/tons of quantities. I could eat the footlong sub in maybe 10 mins, I just chowed down. Whatever it is that's stuck, will it always come up, or can it pass?

i was told liquids for 24 hours, then purree, mush the next and then ease it back into solids.
-
no problem! and thanks I got for my first fill on June 27th.

Any early 20's people getting/gotten banded?
Stacey1985 replied to Heather Joy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 20 and I was banded May 27th, 2005! -
I was told strickly to eat only 3 times a day and just half a teacup for now.. and slowly work my way up to 1 full teacup. NO SNACKS my dr. stresses. Why? Is it because if you snack you won't loose as much, or does it have something to do with the band? Do you snack? I'm curious!

band slippage is more occurent in the first month because it's so new in your body, your body isn't used to the foriegn object and usually it's kept open for a month. It's not common, but you don't want to risk it by eating solid foods.
-
i wouldn't go as far as solids, but purreed foods is ok at 2 weeks, and cream soups... but nothing solid. You don't want to risk your band shifting and having to get revision surgery.

I have the opposite effect, on day 4 and ever since (day 8 now) I have taken some pretty BAD poo's, sometimes up to 4 times a day. All i have is 2 apple juice boxes and water a day. Nothing else, where is it coming from? I think it may be from the antibiotics I'm on.
-
I was banded a day after you! that's awesome congrats on getting the surgery and lucky you for getting to go home the same day!
-
Good luck!!
-
so sorry to hear that Hope you aren't in a lot of pain and everything works out for you.

I'm allergic to penicilin, so I have to take this stuff called clindamycin for a week post-op. I'm telling you.. it's so grosse, it smells and tastes like POO. Is anyone else blessed with having to/had to take this? It's torture! I brush my teeth 5+ times a day and I still can't get the nasty taste out of my mouth. I'm only on day 3!! OMG.
-
i was the same way.. i had gotten down to a size 10 about 3-4 years ago from a size 26/28 and I still figured myself as fat. I look at pictures from back then now and i'm amazed I thought that way. It's a phsychological issue, being overweight your whole life you're accustomed to these thoughts, and it's hard to get them from popping up all the time.

this didn't happen to me, but my brother didn't like going poo in the toilet, instead he would crouch down in the corner and poo, lol anyway. my mom would tell my brother that the ghosts were coming to take him away and the only way to make the ghosts disappear was to poo in the toilet, and then my dad would be in the other room making noises to scare him. haha.

i just had my surgery a week ago, and there isn't any pain really.. it's most discomfort, it's hard to find a good position to stay in for a while, and sometimes it's hard to sleep because of that, but after my third night i sleep the whole night. There's some bruising where the incisions are but they don't hurt. For the first couple days it felt as if I may be stretching something inside, but that feeling goes away. Don't be worried, everything will be great

Has anyone been banded in the US that has paid for it out of pocket?
Stacey1985 replied to a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
In canada the surgery isn't covered, I had to pay nearly $14,000. -
First time eating after my fill...
Stacey1985 replied to thechatrooper's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
you and I were banded on the same day! I don't go for my first fill until Thursday, so I'm not sure if that's normal. But like KarenB said, you should call your doctor and inform him/her. -
I just had my surgery on the 27th of may, and since then I am only able to have some apple juice 3 times a day with the antibiotics i'm on (because I know I have to take them) even that's hard for me to take.. I just feel sick at the thought of anything, is this normal? I don't think i'm recovering well either, it still hurts to move and walk.. this could be because i'm 420 pounds, as i'm guessing, but I have heard people are up and back to work in 2 days. I can barely shower myself without needing to sit down right away. Am I over exaggerating?

unable to eat much! is something wrong?
Stacey1985 replied to Stacey1985's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
thanks everyone! you all helped me a lot. I'm not taking pills, i'm taking liquid clindamycin (sp?) since I'm allergic to penicillin. It leaves the nasiest taste in my mouth, and I brush my teeth and use scope at least 5 times a day and it's still there. Ah well, 5 more days of it, and then I'm free. I'm just taking it day by day. I did buy a heating pad, and I'm going to use it today. My doctor didn't prescribe me any pain medication because he said I was going well in recovery (but then again, I was on pain medication). The pain isn't that bad, I can tolerate it, just uncomfortable and sometimes I feel like if I move too suddenly, i'm stretching something and my wounds are going to open, but i'm just thinking crazy. haha. I'm just taking it one day at a time, and hopefully by the end of the week things will slowly be shifting back into normal. -
My name is Stacey, and i'm from BC, Canada. I just got banded 2 days ago. Everything was smooth sailing except for my nerves and a bit of breathing trouble afterwards, but everything else went perfect. Just wanted to say hi!
