Have you had your first fill?

I've had two fills. Surgery was on Sept. 6. First fill on 10.15 of 3 cc (I have a VG band). No restriction at all. Second fill on 10.29 of 1.5 cc. I have a little restriction, but I can certainly eat more than I should be able to. I am on Prednisone, though, and as it causes innate hunger and cravings, my doc is working with me to help me get through it. Cathy

    Scale question

I don't have a scale at home (I dropped it and it shattered about six weeks ago). I'm choosing not to replace it, as I don't want to get so fixated on my weight that it's controlling my life. I figure I'll update as I see my surgeon...and when that dwindles down, then I'll weigh at the gym about once a week.
  3. I had six. I'm not a man and I'm not considerably larger (BMI 40) than most. However, I had a lot of scar tissue from four previous abdominal surgeries and that may be why I had the extra one. It really didn't matter to me, though, as my tummy is already scarred up so much from the other surgeries.
  4. Now wait a minute...he may be trying to help here. If he doesn't understand the process of digestion, he may be helping you get through your liquid stage by chewing, swallowing the liquid, and spitting the solid. I can TOTALLY see why he would think that may help you. Let's not move to the assumption that he's trying to sabotage you. He may be unsure and feeling completely helpless that he can't "fix" your pain (which, right now is NOT eating). Our hubbys need to feel they can take care of us (darn that testosterone), and when they can't, they get a little creative in their means to do so. I think it's a sweet gesture. I wouldn't be upset with him at all. If he were truly trying to sabotage you, he'd say "big whoop...eat the damn steak and quit whining about being hungry" Just my 2 cents. Cathy

    Clear liquids - list

Gina, I was told that taking in more than 25 g. of Protein at one time is dangerous for your kidneys and that it should be spread throughout the day (3-4 hours between doses of protein). Are you taking in 84 grams all at once in the morning? Have you checked with your doc about this? Cathy

    shoulder pain

I was banded on 09.06 and my shoulder still hurts. But, as Shelli stated, it appears to be okay until I overdo it and then it really starts killing me again. Cathy

    Hungry and weak

My surgery was also on Sept. 6, and I, too, am struggling with lack of food. However, I know I just have 6 days left before I can eat Mushies...and when that day comes, I'll start a count down to "soft foods". It's one day at a time around here. And often...one HOUR at a time. Hang in there. You don't want to be banished from your surgeon for being non-compliant and from what I understand, some surgeon's will do that.
