How Many Calories @ Day?
menjaz replied to lapnicky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks out. I eat between 500 - 700 calories per day. (This includes one premier protein shake, a half of an Isopure protein drink, and 1 1/2 - 3 ounces of baked salmon almost every day.) -
I felt like my swelling went down at about 7 weeks. Hopefully it's still a bit swollen, because that means I'm going be even smaller soon.

SURGERY TODAY - ON MY WAY TO HOSPITAL....

Congrats! Welcome to the club. -
So frustrating! Keep the faith.

I was not looking forward to my pre op diet, but....it helped me prepare for after the surgery. I'd definitely cut down in the next couple of weeks.

I was only able to walk, pre surgery. But what really helped with my pre surgery weight loss was keeping track of everything I put in my mouth. The app My Fitness Pal is invaluable. (I lost 25lbs in about 14 weeks prior to surgery.)

One week post op and I am hungry, all the time.
menjaz replied to Lynnheb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree about the head hunger. I'm still having trouble telling the difference between real hunger and head hunger. -
Two new milestones this morning!
menjaz replied to menjaz's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I actually lost 25 pounds of it presurgery. i'm concentrating on eating protein protein and more protein. -
I'm so proud of myself! I hit two milestones this morning. I was Sleeved on 3/04/14. My starting weight was 299, my starting BMI was over 50. Today, 9 weeks later, I hit the half-way point to my goal and my BMI is now just under 40. (Down 64.5lbs, and BMI down over 10.) Good job me!

Anyone not tell family?
menjaz replied to MIMamaof2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I shared with my family members that I also consider to be friends, and that's it. -
My doc told me to have a protein and a bit of veggies, and that's pretty much it. Very little pasta, bread, etc.

Friend said she's disappointed
menjaz replied to beme2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Her reaction has nothing to do with you. It's about her own fear and insecurities. This is not cheating by any means. But if is was, so what! -
Very inspiring!

medical bracelets for Sleevers?
menjaz replied to skinnygirlwithin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
(I probably sound stupid) Why would we need a medical alert? -
I use Premier Protein Shakes, which come ready to drink and Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla. They are 11 oz, 160 calories, 30 grams of protein, 3 grams of fat, and 4 grams carbohydrates. I add a few ounces of decaf to cut the sweetness a bit. They cost about $24 for 18. (They sometimes go on coupon for $4 off.) Good luck!

Any advise would be nice
menjaz replied to claudiad213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not good progress, I'd say GREAT progress! Keep it up. -
I felt lousy and weak for the first 6 weeks. At almost exactly 6 weeks, I started feeling better. I had more energy and felt more in control of my body.

How soon can i go back to work, post sleeve?
menjaz replied to stephne42's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took 8 weeks off. I'm so glad I did. (I also had the lap band removed and a hernia repair.) But now that I'm back to work, I do have more of a regular routine, which helps my eating program.
